Oh my oh my. I was at Hot Topic today when I noticed that they are selling house ties. I picked up the Slytherin one out of excitement and got it for $8 and took it home only to find out:

1. The stripes are UGLY.
2. WRONG COLORS.

The last time I checked the Slyterin colors werent green and YELLOW. Ugh. So I'm going to go out and buy a fabric pen and color over the ugly yellow with silver. I'm STILL going to buy a nice tie though for my costume. Ugh. I'm discusted.

Though I did buy the Slyterin track jacket and am very pleased with that purchase.




Just not the tie.

Why does my store carry the crappy ties and not the cool jacket? Life is so unfair. I'm going to write two poems about it and post them in my liveJournal, along with some awesome pictures of my wrists smeared in ketchup. Then I'm going to re-read all all of my copies of JtHM.

Hot Topic irritates me to no end.

by any chance they've got ravenclaw? i've noticed hot topic has been more towards gryffindor and slytherin then ravenclaw and hufflepuff...at least where i'm at anyway >.>

Nah, they just have Slytherin and Gryffindor...very unfair, but they market to what sells (or what they think will sell anyway). They do have Ravenclaw shirts though, and they're not bad looking. I talked to the girl at the register the other day and she said sometime next month they were going to get in the robes for Slytherin and Gryffindor for Halloween costumes and such. I'm sure they'll be bright spring green and fire engine red and fall apart when you look at them...*rolls eyes*

Last time I was at Hot Topic I do remember the girl saying they would be getting a lot of new Potter stuff in at the end of this month or the begining of next. Wonder what else they'll be getting in...

see jenn, if you had just waited and gone with me like you usually do, then i could have saved you the pain and suffering. because i saw that post about the ugly ties. l0l. and i wouldnt have let you spend $8 on an ugly tie. l0l.

usually hot topics hp stuff is really great. jenns jacket is really nice, though you cant tell in the picture that its a very vibrant green. she also has a green slyth shirt in a girls size thats really pretty. and you all have seen my draco shirt. she has one too. l0l. oh, and i just bought the ron shirt that looks like the malfoy shirt. sooo nice. and really comfy. i love it.

the ties however seem to suck. :D

I had no idea Hot Topic was selling this stuff.
I mean, I knew they had the cheesy plastic matrix coats that were over priced and wouldnt fit me.

I always thought the ties WERE yellow and green, while Ravenclaw was silver and blue. They keep changin it, grrr.

So how much were the jackets and how large do they come?

They cost $39.95 at the Hot Topic's near me (Columbus, OH) and come up to 2XL (I think those were $5 more) I'm going to get one this payday (Gryffindor of course) even though I can't wear it for another 2 months...who knows how long they'll actually have my size, they run out of mediums in EVERYTHING there. They also have black Hogwarts crest jackets in the same style.

They are silver and green. Ravenclaw's are bronze and blue (but in the movies it's silver and blue.)

I got my jacket about a month ago and aside from the crest, I'm pleased with it, my gf wanted the gryffindor one for her b-day so when that comes in we shall be pleased with it too.

I worked for hot topic last year and I must say that when they get merchandise, they over-kill it. Like when Pirates of the Caribbean was popular there was loads of merch. And half of all that merch, like in the hp case, is crap.

Then again, they make stuff like the jackets and house t-shirts, which imo are well done. So their products are really a hit or miss.

On the brighter side, if you're keeping the tie you can always use it as a belt.
