| I found a kitty, she lives in the little "garden" in the front of my building on the Lower East Side. She's small, young, extremely friendly to me since i've started feeding her three days ago (sensible enough to run away from strangers who pass by on the street), playful, looves to be petted, even let me comb her with no objections at all. Eats well. In short, a lovely kitty. You can't tell from the pictures, because they were just taken with a flash at night, but her eyes are bright orange. She's way pretty and has a fluffy tail. Wish I could take her...but i live in a studio apt and have two cats of my own.
Can we find her a good home? She seems to love human interaction. She practically followed me home, but i told her she better stay in the garden if she knows what's good for her. :)

| Hi, guys.
I'm a Hoboken n00b - I'll be here for about two months while I intern at a nonprofit in Manhattan.
How can I meet people (besides going to bars, because I won't be 21 for two weeks and would rather avoid underage . . . issues) and what places should I know about? I've been wandering around and trying to find cool things, but you guys are the experts.
Have a lovely day. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Hey Guys :)
...can anyone recommend any great coffee shops where the coffee or tea is decent, the lighting is good, and there's room to just read/work/study for hours? (Wireless internet and/or a cozy feel a plus). I haven't hung out in Hoboken in a while, if you know of any good places it would be thoroughly appreciated :D | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| | Subject: | I Hate Emanuel's Salon | | Time: | 09:20 pm | | Current Mood: | annoyed |

| Don't go to Emanuel's Salon (on Washington).
Here's why: Basically, if you make an appointment at Emanuel’s, don’t expect them to honor it.
On Friday afternoon around 1pm I called and booked an apt for a bikini wax. They told me they had an opening at 8:45. While 8:45 was not my preferred time, it was the only opening, so I decided to take it.
I walk to the salon on a freezing cold night and arrive to be met by the freezing cold eyes of the receptionist. She rudely asked me what I wanted. I told her I had an apt and she rolled her eyes. She couldn't find me at first and called me by the wrong name twice. Finally after getting my name correct she said, in an annoyed tone, "Oh here you are. [insert sigh] hold on."
A stylist came out from the back with the receptionist in tow and abruptly said to me in a harsh voice, "We don't have time for you. You need to come back tomorrow. There are no appointments." I told her I had an appointment and she said, "That is not possible we are closing. You need to come back tomorrow. OK?" I said, "But I have an appointment for 8:45, and it is 8:40 now." She was being very flip with me as though I made up the fact I had an appointment. Stunned at the rude treatment I received I left because she was clearly not going to honor my appointment.
I will never go back to such a disrespectful place. I can not believe the treatment I received.
Emanuel, if you make an appointment, keep it. How rude!!!! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| Hey all!
My 21st birthday is on Thanksgiving.. groan. So I'm looking for a nice bar in Bergen County/North Jersey that's actually open to celebrate with my cousins, my father and maybe one or two friends.
I'd like a sports bar setting, preferably with a pool table but I can also take one without! Nothing too dive/townie-ish, but nothing too Houlihans/Friday's/Bennigans-ish either.
But even so.. all suggestions are still accepted!!!
I don't know many bars in NYC, since I've spent the past few years away at school in NYC...
Thanks guys!

Record 1 of 1 COI: VBIED Threat to Entrances to New Jersey and Tall Buildings
Date: 8/15/2005
Title: VBIED Threat to Entrances to New Jersey and Tall Buildings (https://premier.fsisac.com/?requestUrl=..%2fcontent%2fview.aspx%3fPageID%3di5758%26Id%3d396603)
Document Type: DHS (Other)
Description:
The US Government has released information concerning a threat to entrances to the state of New Jersey, specifically roads, highways and railway stations. Tall buildings may also be targeted. The attack would be carried out via a truck bomb (Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device or VBIED). The explosives used would require sophisticated equipment or trained dogs to detect. The attack would be carried out at night by Muslim Arabs who are US nationals and by additional participants from abroad. We cannot verify the credibility of the source at this time, and no information is available on the time frame for the attack(s).
At this point this reporting cannot be viewed as corroboration for earlier reporting of a threat from fuel/tanker trucks to certain cities in the US, as the two pieces of reporting emanated from different sources. However, both pieces of information are part of a continuing stream of reporting indicating terrorist interest in carrying out VBIED attacks in the US.
Recipients are asked to follow the guidance issued by the Office of Counter-Terrorism on Friday, August 12, 2005, concerning the threat from VBIEDs to New Jersey's transportation infrastructure. This guidance included a list of countermeasures to adopt at targeted sites (rail stations, bridges, tunnels, major highway crossings) and a list of VBIED indicators.
Sector Specific:
Document Contents: Text of Threat Information Released by the US Government
(U/FOUO) A prominent figure in a Middle Eastern country who has held high government positions contacted a senior US Embassy official to report a threat against the US. The prominent figure said the threat information came to him from a source who he considered credible and who appears to have direct or indirect access to the group responsible for the threat. The US Embassy has no further information on the source so cannot judge his/her credibility.
(U/FOUO) The source said the plan involved attacks on roads, highways, and railway stations, during the night time, at entrances to the state of New Jersey. Tall buildings may also be targeted. The attack would be carried out by the use of explosives transported on trucks and disguised in a way that would require sophisticated detection instruments or trained dogs to detect. Those conducting the attacks would be Muslim Arabs with US nationality. Additional participants in the attacks would come in from abroad. Preparation for the attacks has included coded e-mails sent from the Netherlands and Denmark. | comments: Leave a comment |

| | I'm looking for a gym and i don't know where to go. I spent about a year at Club Ko but the only kickboxing classes stopped working for me. i don't want to spend an outrageous amount of money so NYSC and Club H are out of the question for sure. I took a look around Empire Fitness today and its good except they don't have any classes and they only have 2 showers in the ladies locker room. Anyone like this club? What other gyms are good? I have this documentary about the Hoboken Mounted Police Force that I just did for a non-profit organization dedicated to saving horses from slaughter. . . This is just a rough edit, and voice-over work still needs to be done to replace the current narration. What I need is music to also replace the introduction and ending tracks. Preferably something a little depressing at the end, and uplifting in the beginning. If anyone knows anyone, or has made music themselves that the'd be willing to grant permission for me to use with this production please contact me. Thanks a lot.
