Hobbit_Marked: FAQ // Affiliates
Journal organization has come, and as such, time for the regular FAQ and Affiliates list.
Are your icons for grabs?
Of course, why else would I post them? If they were requested by someone (and it is stated in the post), you have to ask the requestie if you can use it. Besides that, things are free.
Do I have to credit you?/How do I?
A) Yes, credit is a must.
B) Crediting is simple. When you upload the image into your 'Your Pictures', place whatever keywords you want and add "hobbit_hunter" or "hobbit_marked". A tutorial can be found here.
B1) If you can't remember who made your icon, I found a simple idea. When you save the avatar onto your harddrive, put "username_nameofimage.whateverformatitis" . Its very handy.
C) For banners (friends only and banner tops) please put either my personal OR my icon journal user name.
D) For wallpapers, I post a little notice in the corner of each picture. Made by me, who the original creator was, ect.
Why do I have to credit?
Its called 'give credit where credit is due'. Taking credit for something that someone put a lot of time on isn't friendly, and it down right rude. All icon makers ask for credit, it's not just me. There are also those out there that hunt down people who don't credit and then notify the original maker. So please be curtious and give credit. People don't have to make their avatars public, its a gift really - from us to you.
Can I submit your icons into a challenge?
If it is a nomination community, then yes. Otherwise no.
What program(s) do you use?
Adobe Photoshop Elements, and Animation Shop Pro 3 for my moving icons.
Can I request an avatar/wallpaper/gaphic/friends only banner/banner?
Always check. Depending on time is if I accept requests - which is mainly during the holidays or on summer vacation.
You say you have done requested avatars for [insert username]! Why won't you for me?
Because they are close friends, and I ask if I can put those avatars up before I do. :)
Can I request a tutorial?
Sure! Just remember that tutorials take time to write out, so be paticent. Also, I may not have the exact .PSD for a certain icon, so I'll try to repilcate the effect for you. :)
Will you make me a layout?
I can make you a banner header or background, but beyond that you'll need some form of knowledge on S1 styles. I only really know Generator well.
If I do make you a layout: Tell me color, size of bg/banner, fandom (supply pictures if needed) and any other effects you want.
Where do you get your brushes?
Check my resources.
I've seen your avatar somewhere before! Why?
Mainly because 80% of my icons I do for challenge communities. If you are a member at one of these places, that is why :)
Where did you learn to do your journal layouts?
I use S1 Styles, and learned many overrides from
howto.
Why don't you accept requests? I want one!
If my request post is disabled this means that I have no time to do extra icons. I write fanfiction, operate three communities (
tennant_love,
atlantisfaceoff,
ygo_chorus). This includes running, making graphics, and moderation. That, fanfiction/fanart, and my life take up loads of time.
