11:24 am [turdoken]	I have a somewhat geeky fanboy question about the characters in this series. What if the powers and otherworldly religious "experiences" of teh Deryni are merely an abberant, recessive geen whose effects are delusional to the carrier and only suggestive to others, dependent upon whether they BELIEVE in the power, but has no effects on any doubters. 10:23 pm [lilithschilde]	Dragon*Con, anyone? Anyone else except elegaer and I going to Dragon*Con this year? Katherine Kurtz is going to be a guest and I'm very excited to see what she's up to lately. Scott MacMillan will also be there. Any questions you'd like to ask her if you had a chance? I'll do my best to get the courage to ask them, or maybe elegaer can if I can't find my voice. I'll try to make a full report when I get home on anything interesting that came up. 10:49 pm [helgi_darn]	Hello, Now I'm reading "In the King's Service". It's wonderful, brilliant and so on. I have just read the 6th chapter and one question disturbs me. The question about ladies who travelled with the Queen to her mother. There were ladies and ladies... and Jessamy. Queen spends a lot of time with Jessamy. And she says to Jessamy... she doesn't want anybody else to hear. So, my questions are: 1. Were the Queen's ladies subjected to the Queen or directly to the King? 2. Is it possible that there were 2 "parties" among the Queen's ladies: "King's party" and "Queen's party"? How do you think? (Comment on this)

Hi, I just found out that in their infinite wisdom JoAnn Fabrics has decided to remove all of their stores from the Northeast, due to lack of sales because of the suposed purchasing at Walmart of fabric and craft supplies. I Am Pissed!!!!!!!! I've done shoping at JoAnn Fabrics for most of my fabric for my costuming projects, because that's all I have for a place to get decent fabric supplies. I have a Walmart...it sucks for supplies. Target doesn't have fabric for sale.... AC Moore doesn't carry fabric...and neither does Michaels..... And Rag Shop ran with it's tail between it's legs when they found out that Michaels was moving into the same shopping complex as them. This really does piss me off... Because except on line, I have no place to get fabric.... and once JoAnn's closes, I will have no place to get my Viking Sewing Machine repaired as well. I don't buy fabric on line....and the quality of fabric at Walmart is so limited, it's laughable. So, the point of this post is this, maybe the costumers of the Northeast should make a Large Letter of protest about the fact that JoAnn fabrics has decided to shoot themselves in the foot by removing the only decent fabric store in the northeast from us. Now I don't know how the rest of the costumers buy their stuff for their costumes, but still, it's wrong of them to deprive us of one of our few resources that is available to us. The best I've been able to find states that she was advised simply... Well: This occurrence has had two effects. It has brought fan fiction abruptly into a more serious arena, and it led directly to the refusal of authors to allow fan fiction. Anne MacCaffrey 20 and Katherine Kurtz 21 have both been advised by their agents never to read any fan fiction, nor even to look at the relevant fan groups on Usenet. This gives them the defence of never having seen the fan fiction, and so any similarities can be dealt with as cases of simultaneous copyright. Which really amounts to don't ask, don't tell. Is there something either more current or specific I'm unaware of? Inspite of my defense of slash in general I really don't want to go blundering like a bull in a china shop with deryni_fic - the literal fiction OR the community. (20 Comments |Comment on this)

7:01 pm [lilithschilde]	Codex and Easton Limited Edition Hi everyone! Just saw on Amazon that The Codex Derynianus is open for pre-orders. Looks like it's finally going to get published, for those of us not lucky enough to have gotten the original publication of it (even those of us who pre-ordered it *cough*). I also have to share my joy at the book I picked up, that I didn't know existed! My rent had to be late so I could have this one! It's from Easton Press and is a limited edition, leather-bound copy. Mmmm. I know you guys will appreciate it as much as I do. What else to share? I finally read Two Crowns for America, and really enjoyed it. Today, however, I saw someone with more fan power than myself... (so if you're that guy who drives a car with Illinois plates, DERYNI 1, I was the maniac passenger in the silver ford 500 waving like a FIEND at you). 4:00 pm [gypsymichaella]	I got this off of the deryni news group I was tooling around the genealogy site last night and found something interesting. (BTW, I love this site - thanks to Rebecca and her crew) Sometimes I just start following links from one generation to the next and last night I found a family that went unbroken from Camber time to Kelson time and to my amazement Sean O'Flynn, Lord Derry is a direct descendant of Murdoch of Carthane. Now the questions to discuss: Derry has been a kind of hard luck guy -- are the sins of the fathers being visited on the sons? OR Are his ancestors spinning in their dark but well-appointed regent graves, because of his association with Deryni?
