Happy Fairy Day! I forgot to do anything but the day is still young! What have you all done for Fairy Day or have done in the past?

My first attempt! [25 Jun 2008|07:55pm]

I've been meaning to do something like this since I saw Amelie about 3 years ago. I never knew it actually had a name! Glamour bombing... I think I'll like it here.

What I did was took a piece of paper and decorated it a bit, then wrote a message. I wrote down a recipe for fairy cakes (or mini-cakes, call them what you wish.) and then drew some designs around the letter. I folded it and wrote "Open Me" (a la Alice in Wonderland) then rolled it up and taped a ring of paper around it (if that makes sense at all...) and stuck a few flowers under the paper ring... thing.
I waited until there were no witnesses and put it on the sidewalk a little ways down from my own house. I hope someone finds it before it rains again.

Beltane [30 Apr 2008|07:57pm]

_xela_
Tomorrow is Beltane, and I have decided to Glamour Bomb the children of some friends in my village.

I've made these little... danglies! They're long bits of metallic rainbow coloured thread, on which I've strung beads and origami butterflies, and little bells at the very ends. I've also wrote a little note from the faeries that explains May Day/Beltane and what they can do to celebrate it with the faeries (sitting in their garden, wearing ribbons and flowers). I'm going to sneak over after dark and hang them from their front doors, so they can find them in the morning on their way to school.

I'm sealing the notes with wax to boot =)

Here is something to think about: [23 Apr 2008|02:50pm]

atropanocturna
Doing lovely beautiful things for Yourself can end up being a glamourbomb for someone else.

For example, there is a house in my downtown area, that when the city was repaving the sidewalk in front of their house they went out and pressed coloured glass stones in pretty designs into the wet cement. Now, they were doing this as a decoration to their house....but when I walked down the side walk in the middle of the night, unaware of the designs,  suddenly coming upon them I felt as if I had been glamourbombed.

So don't hesitate to take the time to:
*hang windchimes \ garden mirrors \ or bits of loveliness around your yard
*spruce up your garden
*paint glittery faerie stepping stones up to your front door
*COVER a tree with twinklelights and keep it lit all year
*hang a handmade welcome sign on your door
*etc...

Because visitors and passersby will feel like they have stumbled onto a wee bit of faerieland when they notice.

sharpies/nail polish & new / first of type bomb! [23 Mar 2008|01:51pm]

What do you all use sharpies or nail polish for? I draw on bathroom stalls, hearts, with nail polish and fairy stick people, with sharpies. What do you guys think the best colors for this and similar things are? I paint pennies and painted hearts but the custodial staff found a really really good cleaner so I stopped bugging them.

What do you guys do with the painted pennies? I just hide them inbetween books in the bookstore. What do you guys do?

I also did a build-little-mysterious-structures-bomb. I put 9 sticks in a circle and a bigger and taller stick in the middle. I also transplanted a big green weed and built a little half-of-a-house around it. On the circle I also tied pieces of dried yellow stringy plant thing around it and made the ties face out. I put some flower weeds at the base of the big stick. I put it in a dry side of a hill. I put the plant in a simmilar spot but it is frequently flooded, and get the bests water in the area.

I also, wow lots of alsos and dashes, did some chalking! I chalked the sidewalk at my school. It was made of 5 big squares and I did a theme for each one. The first one was body parts, like lips, eyes, nose, hands ect. The second square was 4 diffrent things, a teacup, a flower, a sad face with braces, and something else I can't remember. Square number 3 was a bunch of Ss, because I go to Shoemaker High. The fourth square was easter eggs and the last was books. In the books I wrote things like, "once upon a time there was a girl. She liked..." or "There once was a girl who liked books" or "When I wished upon a star I wished upon a pickle because pickles are real."

Sorry for the long post and thanks for your ideas.

I am hoping to try to make my own fairy wings soon. I am planning on using some coat hangers and panty hose or knee highs. I will most likely decorate with glitter and paint. What I need help on is the finer points, like how to get the knots in very back to not show, how to get nice holes with out them being too nasty looking, and any and I mean ANY thing that is even a little difficult (tips for that part). This is my first pair of wings, that I am making my self. Any and all tips would be apreciated. If someone could give me very very very very, every little tiny step, detailed instructions on this meathod or another, I would be soooo greatful. Please help me!

Chinese New Year orbs [08 Feb 2008|04:19pm]

greychild
Didn't think about until just now, but every year a sooper-sekrit organization called Monkeyshines distributes blown glass balls emblazoned with the animal depiction of the current Chinese Astrological year. These orbs, hidden on the eve of the lunar new year, are hidden throughout the city of Tacoma, WA. Anyone lucky enough to find one, gets to keep them!

Not sure if this is allowed or not. If not, I completely understand.

This is a fictional story that I wrote about a fictional glamourbomb, but it would be so awesome to make it a reality. :-)

Why not start with 'One, Two, Buckle My Shoe'? )

An evil idea [01 Feb 2008|11:16pm]

fayanora
[ mood | amused ]

Evil idea for a glamour bomb: I want to wear a pope's costume and do one or more of the following:

1. Play Marilyn Manson or something else satanic on a CD player.

2. Preach Discordianism in street-preacher format. ("Listen, my brothers and sisters, to these words I say! The only authority is YOU! No one can tell you what to think but YOU, and you shouldn't even accept your OWN authority! Every man, woman, and child ever is a genuine and certified Pope of the church of Discordia, please treat them right! Don't believe what you read! Don't believe what you hear! Don't believe what you think! For ideas you can change, but beliefs are THE DEVIL! For verily do people kill for beliefs, die for beliefs! All paths lead to the same source, don't listen to anyone but yourself! Hell, don't listen to ME if what I say doesn't align with your inner truth! In fact, don't listen to me at all! Pay me no heed! I'm sorry to have bothered you! Have a good day, and may your path be right for you!")

(Other ideas in that vein include "The end is a long way off! In fact, don't think about the end! Get your head out of your end! Stop worrying about the future or lamenting for the past! You are worried about meals you have not eaten, or enjoyed in the past, while the sumptuous meal of your life before you rots into nothing!")

3. Just do the Robot dance or the moonwalk.

4. If my girlfriend felt comfortable with it, she could dress as a nun while I'm in my pope costume and either dance with me, preach with me, or we could make out in public, pope and nun. *Wicked grin*

If anyone in this group lives in either the San Francisco Bay Area, or Santa Cruz California, check this out:

A Love of Art )

It has an event page on Facebook, and is being spread across Tribe. We're hoping this will be a big one, because lots of people need cheering up (and something good to do) on Valentine's Day, whether they're single or taken.

This isn't so much reporting a glamour bomb, but planning one [08 Jan 2008|02:27pm]
rachelrayns
Hey... I am an artist from Norfolk, UK.  Today I received a box full of new art material goodies.  I am inspired.

I wont drag it out, and clog up your community all the details are in my journal, this entry.

I am interested in creating a piece, made by as many different artists as possible, whilst none of them know what they are creating, they just know they are working with people they may never meet on something that will be displayed together..

if this works, I plan to do a whole series of these pieces

... interested?  check out the entry and comment/vote in the poll... so when it is all sorted out I can contact you. There is enough interest for me to go ahead already! (but more are still welcome!) You can still vote, but also please email me your house address to be put on the list.

Thanks for reading.

'Bombs in the dark? [25 Dec 2007|06:27pm]

Has anyone heard of LED throwies? Basicly, light up magnets. I found this http://graffitiresearchlab.com/?page_id=71#video and thought it would be neat, especially for this time of year in the northern hemisphere when it's dark most of the time. I think there are instructions on how to make your own LED throwies somewhere....
