an announcement from sean! (we are just full of news lately) [27 Sep 2008|04:57pm]

lizenthusiasm
Hey gang, I'm proud to announce my collaboration with Adobe on their new Photoshop Express site.

Our friends at The Barbarian Group (see "Less Talk More Rokk" video and Fancy Ultra Fresh interactive content) put this team together and we are really pleased with the results. I had a great time working with Adobe's team and Douglas McDermott, my good friend and the copy writer on this project for
TBG.

Adobe came to us wanting different songs in different genres to use with the slideshows etc on the Photoshop Express site and we really had a good time dreaming up different bands and genres to poke a little fun at.

A nationwide campaign including posters with different lyrics from the songs has just been launched and you might see them around your town if you're eagle-eyed enough.

While stylistically very different from our work in Freezepop, we thought you guys might enjoy these fun tracks."

Check 'em out at the Photoshop Express Songs site).

Thank you guys for giving me, simply, the BEST concert I've ever been to. I saw you guys at El Corazón after we met you guys at PAX and we were right up front! I wish we could have stayed to finish, but we had to catch the bus, but it was great because the last song we got to hear was Freezepop Forever (and after that concert, totally, Forever!) so we felt content that we left when we did. But I hope you guys didn't freak out or anything if you saw us leave, our exit wasn't exactly graceful.

We were going to see you guys the night before at PAX but we got into a car accident and went back to my place, we were totally bummed. So when you told us yo were at El Corazón the next day we made sure we were going to be there, even though the fates seemed to look down on us. After we left PAX we had a ride from a friend, and when we got to his car he had a flat tire ... really flat. So we thought we'd take the bus, but we almost got on the wrong one and he gave us horrible directions. Luckily a Taxi Driver was nearby so we took him, and of course we realized after we got there we could've walked >.<

Anyways, I just felt like you guys should know that you really made our ordeals (and whiplash) melt away the instant you were all on stage! I will always look back on this concert and look forward to more Freezepop!

- Fan Forever

PS
Quick question, though you probably get asked this quite often DX
Do any of you actually speak French or Japanese? I really enjoy Parlez-vous Freezepop and I have to say that even with the american accent Liz does a great job!

speaking of Brain Power and Rock Band [12 Aug 2008|07:57pm]

shawno19
[ music | +44 - No, it isn't ]

Did you write Brain Power specifically for RB, or did you just pick it from FFFP and if the later, why Brain Power? was there another song you guys were thinking about using?

Lastly are you guys going to be in RB2 and have you decided what song it's going to be?

so, two releases that we'd thought we had sold out of several years ago, are now restocked in very limited quantities! some copies of the limited edition squishy-pack version of fancy ultra•fresh made their way back to us from our distributor, and i found a box of bike thief vinyls in the basement! aged like a fine wine. or something like that. they're now available from our store, get 'em while they last!

i also put some new photos up on our website too, from our most recent show...

woot, freezepop on the radio [06 Aug 2008|11:48pm]

[ music | Thou Shalt Not - new world ]

So, after 8 years of listening to Freezepop I finally heard them on the radio for the first time.

I was listening to loveline on FNX (if you live around Boston you know the station) on my way home from work tonight and the first song they played after the show was 'Brain Power', which is actually probably one of my least favorite freezepop songs, but it was still awesome to hear Freezepop on the radio.

Woot, Go Freezepop!

I was watching a BBC programme called Click! which is about technology and the Internet. One section was about Pandora and I noticed something in the list of stations they showed:

No mention of Freezepop specifically, I just spotted the screenshot, but if you're in the UK and want to watch the episode you can do so here:

lizenthusiasm
first off, we finally got ahold of some copies of the import version of Future Future Future Perfect, and they're available on our site! (that's http://www.freezepop.net, duh)
it has a slightly different track listing from the US version: we swapped out "do you like my wang" for "get drunk with milk" and "i think best in wire" and added a bonus track, "smoke machine (storslagen mix)"

we also have new shirts featuring the bloody keytar design available from our site as well!

and, as you may know, we are scheduling a west coast tour following our show at PAX. the first date has been confirmed:
Thursday, Sept 4 - Knitting Factory, front stage, 7021 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles. More details TBA. Doors at 8, tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show. All-ages!

more to come, stay tuned!!

some shows, some news [24 Jun 2008|02:53pm]

lizenthusiasm
hey all!

time for a few updates and reminders. first of all, we have two shows this weekend, for you nyc/nj folks:

Friday, June 27 - The Annex, 152 Orchard Street, Lower East Side, NYC. With Macaque and Velvet Code. Doors at 7, we're on at 9:15. $10, 21+.

Saturday, June 28 - The Totally Normal Event at the Hanover Marriot Hotel, 1401 State Route 10, Whippany, NJ. A benefit for SPARC Summer Experience. With Voltaire, Brian Viglione from the Dresden Dolls, and Luminescent Orchestrii. Doors at noon, we're on at 8 p.m. $20 in advance or with student ID, $30 at the door, mostly 16+ (under 16 can contact the promoter to make arrangements). http://www.wickedfaire.com/ for more info.

we just added a local show in july:
Friday, July 18 - ArtBeat, 7 Hills Park, Davis Square in Somerville. We're on around 8 p.m. More details TBA. Free and all-ages! http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/programs/artbeat/index.html for more info.

finally, an announcement from the Duke, as well as a clarification of some messageboard rumors...
"Freezepop is very excited to announce our involvement with the new Guitar Hero: On Tour videogame for the Nintendo DS. Our song “I am not your GameBoy” which originally appeared on our album Fancy Ultra*Fresh seemed a perfect fit for the DS platform so we amp’d it up a bit to play well in the game! Freezepop has now released songs in 8 different games, from a variety of Harmonix titles to other games like DDR, FFR, and Downhill Domination. We are of course truly the most excited to be involved with Harmonix and the amazing music games that they create (we’re sure you can understand the bias ;-) ) but we are also interested in reaching new fans from around the world and want to be open to many different opportunities as they arise. In terms of “selling out” to GH or any other game, we were kindly paid, but have made no more money on GH:OT than we did for Amplitude which was published by Sony way back in 2003. FWIW, we didn’t get paid at all for our tracks in GH1, GH2, and RB1. For us, we just love being involved with videogames. Involving all of you fans and gamers with our music and letting you interact with our songs in the new and innovative ways that these games provide is extremely gratifying for us. See you at PAX!"

Hello from the upcoming Freezepop show in Jersey! [07 May 2008|03:01am]

transversecity
Hello, folks!

This is Jeff, the fellow who's promoting the Freezepop show in Jersey in June (That is, the Totally Normal Event.) That's June 28th, the Hanover Marriott, in Whippany, NJ.

It's going to be a great show - with, among other things, Voltaire, Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls, and Luminescent Orchestrii, plus plenty of other entertainment. The whole event, which is over sixteen hours, is a benefit for SPARC, a nonprofit summer camp for gifted kids, and the whole event is just $20 - with a discount if you get tickets online.

I'll probably be posting more about it later, but I wanted to say hello, and meet folks, and talk to other Freezepop fans.

Hi, all! How are you?

-Jeff M.

Oh, and of course, the obligatory online poster is here. :) )

Thanks for the fantastic concert guys. It was a lot of fun even if it took the crowd a bit too long to get into it. I really hope you guys will think of us again. Whether it be UMD or another venue. We'd love to have you back.

A special thanks to Sean for the conversation we had. Thanks for taking so much time to talk to a long time fan.
