What we found
My friend recently moved into a home that had previously been inhabited by an elderly polish couple. It is assumed they lived in that house for 30+ years. Last week we rummaged through an outdoor shed and found a number of interesting objects including a box full of old art & office supplies.

[FRIEND WITH THE BOX]

[INDEX TABS & GUMMED REINFORCEMENTS]

[NU METAL TAPE]

[CLICKER QUICK CHEK]

[DARTBOARD BASEBALL?]

[HOMEMADE THREE IN ONE BOARD]

The clicker is great. My grandfather had one of those and I had forgotten all about it. Nice find.

I don´t know, exactly. Something with accounts, I suppose. He was a poultry/egg farmer, but by the time I can remember the thing it was just an object.

My grandma had one of those too, I used to drive her crazy clicking it incessantly-- no idea what its practical application was though.

What are the applications? Are they
used just as washers?

You stick those on to looseleaf notebook paper that has had a tear in the hole that goes into the binder.

I wonder if kids even use those kinds of notebooks anymore. Looking at school supplies gets me so nostaligic.

I'm 21 and when I was in middle school they were like all the rage for the cool-nerdy types. I swear. How dorky, right? Like every single page of my notebooks would have them.

I still use them. As a practical application but also to decorate stuff. You can get them in all sorts of colours! (My friend even has some metallic ones.)

I have a dart board that also has baseball on the back... not exactly sure how to play. the "pot board" looks like a home-made michigan rummy/royal rummy board, with the kitty, and the pot, etc... check it out.

I believe they can be used for several things, like
adding up groceries while strolling through the
store AND counting out change. Now we just
use calculators.

The last one looks like a homemade Tripoli game - we played that incessantly growing up, and we're now teaching it to my nephew, who loves to bet with his pennies. ;)

I love finds from a past era. Can I use the Slipknot picture for an icon? If not, it's cool. Don't hesitate to say no just cause you're a nice person or anything. :D

Go for it. I don't mind users cropping my images for
icons, its when they steal the full image and
post in in their lj/site that I don't
approve.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your perspective, I'm all too much of a collector to actually SELL any good finds. I'll probably still be displaying the index tabs on a bookshelf in 20 years.

Why's everyone so confused by the dartboard? hahaha.. God you just.. throw darts at it! haha.. And then you do what your dart lands on.. when you get 3 outs.. it's the other team's turn..

You can either mark it down.. or just get some thumbtacks maybe.. for marking bases.
