The first time Doumeki gives him something, it is a broken arrow from his tournament. Watanuki remembers yelling and throwing a fit as the other boy stuffs the arrow into his bag, ignoring him.

Doumeki’s bad habit of giving him left over things hasn’t stopped since then. Watanuki recalls when Doumeki hands him a broken half of a gum eraser that fell apart sometime during his morning class. There is also that piece of scratch paper from a math test Doumeki took (and aced, that bastard), the pen that ran out of ink three Fridays ago, a love letter from Class 2-D’s beauty (which made him completely green), and an old pair of shoe laces that was replaced by newer laces.

This time Doumeki hands him the second button of his school uniform that fell off after his club activities.

“For you,” he says.

Watanuki frowns. He starts to go on about how he should stop giving his leftovers until he realizes that Doumeki has long not been paying attention to him. Defeated, Watanuki sighs and sticks the button into his pocket with a huff.

Doumeki tells him that he wants to eat eel and rice tomorrow and possibly some sausage cut up to look like octupi as well.

Watanuki tells him to go to hell.

Short Drabble for Mkish. If I remember correctly, top buttons are usually given/asked for by the person that people like. So that’s why it was so significant.
