is this community dead?

I imagine the answer is yes, judging from the dates of the last posts here, and that's a shame, because from the user-info this group actually looks cool. I mean, there are so many unhealthy thinspo/crazy groups around and lots of people who want to just drop a couple pounds and get healthy are sucked into "analulzomg" because they operate under the guise of "losing weight"

Anyway, I used to weight train quite rigorously when I was younger and though general malaise/stupidness quit that when I went to University. I guess I might as well post and introduction, what the hell.

+Reason for joining:
+ I seriously enjoy working out. Cycling and lifting make me feel GOOD. Endorphins are my favorite high, and I know that I am way to young to allow myself to let go. I've taken too many bio and chem classes to believe fad diets, and I want my metabolism to stay just as strong as my heart and lungs. That being said, I lost most of my upper-body tone over the year and want to regain my figure. Skinnyfat is pointless.
+Current fitness/health goal:
+ I'm 5'4" and at my prime, was less than 18% body fat and could bench press 90 lbs for my 3rm, I could run a mile in 7 minutes and could actually do bar dips/pull-ups without spotters. I've since let myself go and at my highest weight was 140 lbs. That's still a "healthy" BMI, but at the high range of average. Basically, I want to get that toned body back, I miss having cut arms and not looking like a failure with the girlie bar. So my goals are as follows:
arms: at least 3 unspotted pull ups and chin ups. need to do 30 nose-to-floor push-ups without stopping. and general weight-training with free weights and machines. Bench, incline, decline, curls and military press for starters.
legs: the consequence for gaining so much weight came in the form of cellulite in my thighs. I have since killed that, but I'd like to cut as much fatty tissue from my legs and tone them. Need to start doing squats and wall-sits again.
core and back: should be obvious- tone up. Lat pulls and situps omg!
weight: this is kind of tricky, because I want muscle tone more than anything. I want to kill excess fat in my gut and arms and try for a body fat around 19-ish% Currently, I am 120 after four months of working out and refining my diet choices. I anything below 110 would be unhealthy for me.
+ I've discovered cycling, and love my road bike. Smoking was shit for my lungs and I've quit that for good (it's been over 6 months!) So I want to start training for big group rides, like in the 100 mile range. I want endurance and long, lean muscles.
+Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?:
Hell no, and people who pretend to just so the can join ana/mia communities for "weight loss tips" are only screwing themselves. But that being said, I'm more than willing and in fact would love to help people with EDs make healthy fitness choices.
+What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?:
+ I know I'm weak, and that makes me ashamed to use the weight room at the gym. I attend a small university and often see friends/ex-boyfriends there and it just makes me awkward. Yeah.... that's pretty lame of me to chicken out like that. Also, as a full-time student with a job/boyfriend/and parties to juggle, I have a hard time picking a regular gym time.
+What are you doing or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?:
+ I've cut out red meat, excess beer (still love the whiskey) and no longer eat heavily-processed foods. I have a fitday profile which is pretty silly (those things never get the calories right, anyway and you just feel good about yourself). I go to the gym when I have the time and do short/intense cardio like stairmaster and then a little of this and that- sit ups, push ups, the usual.
+YOUR Fitspiration(A picture of a model, yourself, a quote, anything that keeps you going:
+ OMG, this video is sexy sexy love. And silly as hell :D

uh anyway, I guess this was a bit long, but what's the point, huh? If you read this on your friends list, add me because that would be awesome. I have tons of questions about training for endurance cycling and nutritional supplements/etc. Buddies are lots of fun and inspiring!

My plans [Jun. 11th, 2006|09:10 pm]

INTRO
I suppose I should introduce myself. I’m Amy Finally. No, Finally isn’t my last name. It’s more of a statement. I’ve had several blogs and online journals that were under a different name. I’ve decided now, to just be me.

I used to be over 200 pounds. I also suffered from anorexia and bulimia and was 106 pounds. I’ve been here, there, and everywhere when it comes to weight and eating disorders. I struggle with the eating disorders in my head sometimes. That might come out here. I have been focusing on fitness. I’m doing quite well in the fitness area. It’s the diet part that has not been going so well. I’m 133 pounds at the moment. I have some quality muscle in that weight. I’m 4’11. I’m overweight, but I’m no longer morbidly obese. I can clearly remember a doctor telling me if I wanted to see my first baby graduate (she was 1), I’d lose the weight. I will never get back to that point. I can say that with confidence now. I’ve come a long way.

The philosophies I follow are Jillian Michaels’. My userpic is her book. She inspires me. My three children do as well.

I want to set a healthy example for my children. My oldest is eight. My middle daughter is 3. My youngest is 2. I’m not setting the healthy example I want to at the moment. I let stress get the best of me, and I have taken up smoking again. I had quit for over a year. My middle daughter is autistic and mentally retarded. My youngest needs to be evaluated.

My husband and I are both seeking full-time employment. We are out of money, and grocery shopping is about to suffer.

My goals:

Up my workout intensity. Not necessarily time working out.
Get a job, well, a better job.
Get my eating habits under better control.
Quit smoking.

Here are some more details…

Monday: Abs, Upper Body, Cardio, Stretch
Tuesday: Cardio Only
Wednesday: Abs, Lower Body, Stretch
Thursday: Upper Body, Cardio, Stretch
Friday: Cardio Only
Saturday: Abs, Lower Body, Stretch
Sunday: REST DAY

Goal micronutrient percentages:

FAT: 15
CARBS: 60
and PROTEIN: 25

Calories: Between 1200 and 1500

So, here I am. Amy, FINALLY!

Introductions [Jun. 11th, 2006|10:15 pm]

Hi everyone,

I thought it'd probably be a good idea to introduce myself :
+Reason for joining:
To find the support of other people living healthy and finding a virtual partner for my exercise goals.
+Current fitness/health goal: (include your height if you mention specific weights)
I'd like to get out 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes at a time to get some exercise and to lose around 20 lbs in the next 10 weeks.

+Fitness/Health weakness:
Being too tired / lazy after work and not having the self discipline to go exercise.
+Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?:
  No
+What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?:
Time constraints at work doesn't really allow for lunch, which means that I either eat too early or too late and end up snacking more than I should inbetween.  There's also aways some kind of snack (always unhealthy) available for everyone at work and since I tend to walk past that bowl so many times a day... at times it becomes hard to resist.
+What are you doin or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?:
I'm trying to be more disciplined about what I eat, trying to get out early in the morning for some exercise (at least 4 days a week) and drinking more water than coffee.

+YOUR Fitspiration(A picture of a model, yourself, a quote, anything that keeps you going
Paula Radcliffe is a great inspiration to me.

+Fitness/Health weakness: I think I eat too little; I am not good at tracking calories

+What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?: I am blind, so reading food labels is difficult. This limits me in countain calories and making sure I am eating enough.

+If applicable, who referred you?: no one.
+Current fitness/health goal: (include your height if you mention specific weights) right now, i work out about 2-3 times a week and im trying to change my eating habits from anorexic to healthy. but its hard. i want to be 100 pounds down from 112. i know it sounds like i dont weigh that much, but i have a small body frame so it looks like im flatout fat, you know?
+Fitness/Health weakness: i tend to give up easily/binge.
+Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?: kind of an ed.
+What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?: i hate the thought of eating, i feel like it will just make me fat, when really it may help me loose weight, and not slow down my metabilism.
+What are you doing or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?:working out i guess?
+YOUR Fitspiration(A picture of a model, yourself, a quote, anything that keeps you going: welllll. the victorias secret models in those bikinis. thats the best fitspiration i think.

+Reason for joining: I want to become more fit and have support doing so.
+If applicable, who referred you?: [info]grrly
+Current fitness/health goal: although I'd love to lose the last few pounds, what I'd really like is to lower my body fat percentage to a more acceptable level. I was 260lbs, I'm 155 now but I still have a fairly high body fat % according to most online calculations. (I'm 5'6")
+Fitness/Health weakness: I tend to dislike the gym because it's crowded so I try to find things to do at home, also I have problems with eating a little too much at night.
+Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?: Nope
+What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?: money. I'm a struggling student and my loan just doesn't cover the cost of eating entirely healthy foods. Mac and cheese and pasta and rice are usually the most expensive things I can afford.
+What are you doing or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?: I'm taking multivitamins and when I can afford veggies I get them. I buy canned/frozen veggies as well because they are less expensive
+YOUR Fitspiration: What keeps me going is that I have made it this far, so I know that I can really do this.

Hey everyone I'm new. This community seems very active with very friendly/helpful people... so here's my application.

Reason for joining: I've gained a few pounds over summer/early holiday season and I'm trying to find motivation for getting back in shape.
Current fitness/health goal: I'm 5'4" and 120, and trying to loose those 5 pounds I gained. But more importantly getting in shape for tennis season in the spring.
Fitness/Health weakness: Honestly, i love junk food and anything chocolate. On the weekdays it's not too bad, but the weekends when I'm home, i tend to binge eat :( Also, i love starbucks which is a killer.
luckily I love to exercise though.
Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?: Nope
What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?: My cravings.
What are you doing or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?: I've been working out (30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weightlifting) 5 days a week.

Reason for joining: I don't have people in my life who find fitness inspiring. Either they love ULTRA THIN or think super obese is OK. I've had family die of obesity related illnesses.

Current fitness/health goal: My back and shoulders need some more strength.

Fitness/Health weakness: My middle daughter has multiple disorders..one is a sleep disorder. It's hard to keep reminding myself sometimes that working out GIVES me energy when I'm exhausted.

Do you have an ED/Fitness Disorder?: I have had bulimia, anorexia, and compulsive overeating at different points throughout my life. I am 4'11 and have been between 106 and 214 lbs.

What do you think limits you the most in making healthy choices?: The anorexia screams easy fix and fast results. It's hard for me to remind myself to be patient sometimes.

What are you doing or have you done to make the best of a situation barring you from a healthy lifestyle?: I'm trying to get my kids involved. I also work at a supplement store...the discount is nice. I've done away with my subscriptions to fashion mags and have fitness mags all around my house.

YOUR Fitspiration(A picture of a model, yourself, a quote, anything that keeps you going: When I'm cleaning house...I have music on or whatever. You know those times when there's nothing on tv but it's still on? I keep it on FITTV. Even the commercials are motivational. :)
