| | accomplished | ] | I'm getting Kazam Keys. Which is slightly annoying in Giddeus because of the yagudo. I actually claimed Hoo Mjuu the Torrent, my first notorious monster. Then because I was at half life and aggro'd four other yagudo, I died. Live and learn, eh? ((Didn't get the drop me and my boyfriend wanted though.)) Instead we got Deodorize.
So far, I've been leveling whm because I'm stuck in San d' Oria ((???? you chocobo grow up faster!)) Currently my jobs are as follow: war: 23 mnk: 20 whm: 9 blm: 5
Hooray for being a newb! ;_____; I think I've made sufficient progress considering I've only accumulated a total of five days play time. ^w^ 2 keys left to get and then I'll be set.
In the mean time though, I think I'm going to get my rank up. Since veterans won't touch rank 2's. :P If you're on Alexander and don't mind doing the San d' Oria 2-3 Quest send me a tell/message, or just comment here. ((user name Zfoot)) Since everyone in my LS are usually busy doing something. Any help would be appreciated! ^w^ |

So i contacted POL today early on. Gogo 50 min wait on phone -_-
Anyways, the rep was pretty strict on what he needed. Seeing as i couldn't provide POL keys, i have to go through the whole format of handing in the compromised account form.
Meh who knows how long this will take.
On a positive note, i asked the rep about data restoration, and he said it covers everything to the point of restoration. Gil, Quests, items, everything that you had at the point they restore you to, the char will have. So thats a bit off my mind.
Mailed the form today, should arrive Wednesday. Its a waiting game now ;
While the rep told me theres no ETA on when it could be done, has anyone whos account has been recently compromised have any experiences to tell on how long i should expect to wait for the return of my account? |

| | E Nomine - Schwarze Sonne | ] | Hiyo! :D This is my first post here so be gentle. :P
I'm a former FFXI-addict. I had a 75 black mage back in the day, and I stopped playing about 2 years ago. With the recent addition of the new expansion pack, my interest has been piqued to rejoin. I mainly miss the community, as the MMO I play now is WoW. While I have a nice guild, the community isn't as strong as I remember from FFXI.
So! I have a few questions before I plunk down some monies on this.
First: have they made it any easier to solo?
Second: given the age of the game, is it hard for someone new to find parties and level in the lower end areas?
Third: are the content and jobs added with the two newest expansions really all that great?
Finally: are the new missions added as freakishly impossible as the Promyvions? *seethe*
Thank you for any information. :D

| May 9th between 7:15PM and 7:45PM 2008, Darte was successfully hacked |
[May. 10th, 2008|12:36 am] |
So yea, while i'm doing Campaign, i suddenly get a logged in from another terminal error. I thought it was a fluke at first but as soon as i logged in i got Disconnected again.
After a 15 minute of what i thought was a stalemate battle of logging into the account, i lost as the hacker took control by changing the password.
God knows what s/he did during these 5 hours.
I just managed to get my account locked, 5 hours after it was compromised by placing a GM call with a friends inactive account. I'll have to contact the information center to get access back on monday.
Bloody hackers timed it right as the POL centers closed down for the weekend.
How did this come to pass? I don't know. They did run an article on POL about hackers infecting around 10K sites just to steal online MMO accounts, i'm guessing i'm victim #god knows how many.
I remember earlier in the week, my Anti Virus (McAfee) was disabled completely for a while for some reason (i didn't touch it). I'm guessing it had to have been some advanced virus to have been able to do that. I keep my PCs up-to-date with security updates and what not. I even used FireFox. Heck i used Vista (maybe its easier to get hacked on vista? :S i dunno). But anyways, next time i'm installing ScriptBlock or NoScript or w/e that thing is called for firefox.
Hope that fucker hasn't damaged my account too badly -_- so much in equipment worth $$$ but only 200Kish in cash. Wouldn't be bad if i got my items back and lost the cash and whatnot.
God damn what a fucked up day.
Anyone has stories about recent account retrieval procedures? |

So I was running through East Ronfaure [S] towards Southern San d'Oria [S] last night on my way to take my second ever Campaign evaluation, when I saw a dead mithra on the ground. I started to cast Raise I, but realized she had summoner AF pants on, stopped the spell, and cast Raise III instead. The first thing she said when she popped up was, "Hey Glorielle, want to kill the sandworm???!?! :D" followed a second later by, "You will be FAMOUS!"
Well, how could I reasonably refuse an offer to make me famous. So she invited me to party, and I got to view the Sandworm. Woah. We fought it right outside the Southern San d'Oria [S] zone. We were two summoners 75, me (white mage 75), Ranger/Nin 75, and a BLU 75 to start with. The Ranger/Nin did a LOT of kiting, around and around and around the fence. We formed an alliance with a bunch of people from their linkshell, but they left after about 20 minutes and 2 deaths to go do something in Nyzul Isle. We got a Black Mage, who would buff, nuke, and then zone to erase hate. He (I think it was a he?) eventually had to go to bed, but not before dealing about 10k damage to the thing. After being R3ed by me about 6 times, the summoner who had invited me in the first place mysteriously DCed. We picked up a BST 75 about halfway through the fight, and finished out with the 5 of us: SMN, BLU, WHM, RNG/NIN, and BST.
After about 2 hours we killed it. So, now I'm a Sandworm Wrangler. :) (Still not famous...)

Whee, Warrior is almost done at level 34~
After having another bad party leader I decided to put my money where my mouth was hehe. So I decided to set out and try my hand at party leading ^^
The first party I made was kinda bad. I think we were too low level for the area by 1 or 2 levels ; ;
Second party was also bad, I didn't invite a proper tank... I thought me and another warrior could "juggle" the monsters together. But we at least got a lot of exp, everyone was nice.
Third party was the best so far, but not as good as others I have been in. However I had lots of fun in it. I used a leveling guide to find a good hunting spot for our level, which was "Behemoth's Dominion". It's a little hard to get to, but maybe that is part of its charm ^^. We had to replace one member after an hour, which took a while because we had to clear the cave in Qufim for her. During that our ranger fell asleep so we had to get yet another replacement, etc. Once we FINALLY got everyone in position it was very nice and I hope everyone was happy ;-)
But I still need work on which jobs go well with eachother. Does anyone have any good tips for knowing what jobs to invite? Maybe a guide that summarizes what each job's role is, and some of their key abilities?
Something like:
Warrior = Provides heavy damage, can briefly assist in tanking during emergency White Mage = Heals everybody and fixes ailments \o/ Black Mage = Heavy magic damage and ability to sleep monsters Scholar = Mix of healing and black magic Red Mage = Mix of healing, black magic, enfeebling magic, and melee Paladin = Nothing you throw at them will kill them! ;-)
and so on ;-P |

So I have a quick question for PS2 people? Or anyone for that matter. My wireless internet died, so I'm having my friend set it up through the cable modem as we speak, since it doubles as both; since we can't find the IP address to the router. But my PS2 is connected to the router and works fine. Is there anyway to find out the router's IP address on PS2 while playing FF? Long shot, stupid question prolly; but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

| | optimistic | ] | I've been aggressively getting Warrior higher, since it's fun and I can't wait to start Dark Knight when it's done ;-)
There were some really great parties in Qufim and Delkfut's Tower. In one, I gained 3 levels in 2 hours! I think the setup was Bard, Dancer, Dancer, Scholar, Dragoon, and me! I had lots of fun in that one, but there was one really bad party in Delkfut's Tower. It was late at night so I was probably grumpy and that maybe clouded my opinions, but the leader rarely ever said a word and went afk often. He was the puller so it was somewhat frustrating not knowing what he was bringing to the camp. Then sometimes he would suddenly rest for a few minutes, and suddenly get back up and pull something, all without a word. So we spent about 30-40 minutes during the 2 hour party waiting for him to get back (I assume when he rested it was him afk). At the end he said "afk 10 minutes" and I just disbanded and went to sleep. But, I need to stop complaining because I've had lots of other great parties!
I tried my hand at fishing again yesterday to get some time to myself ;-)
A lot of people loathe it but I think it's fun ^^. It's fun not knowing exactly what is going to come up out of the water, and you have to be careful or you can break your rod ;-O
I fished up around 11 stacks of Moat Carp, and got level 8 fishing skill out of it! That's about 33,000 gil if it all sells. I threw out dozens of Crayfish before I found out you can use them in cooking... so I got level 5 cooking from the Crayfish I didn't throw out (and now using the cooked crayfish on Warrior ^^).
Also it seemed I caught lots of Crayfish at night, and lots of Moat Carp during the day. I wonder if it was just chance, or if there's actually an effect of the sun or time? |

| | My Arms Your Hearse - Opeth | ] | (1) I partied for the first time ever in Valkurm Dunes yesterday morning, at first duoing with a 12WAR/06WHM as a 13BLM. For some reason, later claiming to be a lack of funds, this chap decided to only have an Inferno Axe and Chocobo Vest with him while acting as some sort of tank. Since this was my second time partying since 2007 I thought, 'eh, let's see what happens.' You know what happens, right: death. After getting a raise from Esoul (Pandemonium server), who kicks much ass by the way, I informed him NOT to pull Goblin Butchers who checked VT (I think), run directly at me and stop in front of me. After my second death and raise I noticed something...he was disengaging from the mob and zoning to remove the aggro then coming back. This is what happens when you party with a n00b...or a retard.
(2) I've had a grudge against Crawlers for a little while now, namely because Poison Breath lasted forever when I was level 10. Now I have a grudge against Lizards and their Plague Breath. For some reason, as a 14BLM, Poison spells and Dia wear off very quickly yet that damn Plague Breath has taken at least 133hp and at most 154hp out of my 166hp total. The rub: the mist lizard checks at EP. That's right, an EP mob that is able to practically if not definately kill you one spell: Plague Breath. If it was a DC mob I wouldn't have an issue, I'd be irritated for sure but I would say, 'that's why they call it a Decent Challange. Suck it up, tough guy.' But I'm not a fan of cheapness -this is why I loathe every Mortal Kombat game except the first, those damn combos go on forever!- and this really pissed me off. I ended up wasting 680exp that I earned with my Emperor band dying four times because I refused to pay attention to the fact that Plague Breath equals dead. Now, of course, I could buy Antidotes or sub a job that can use Poisona, but that isn't the issue...it's a damn EP mob taking me out with basically one spell, that's just not right.
Eventually I stopped being an idiot, got back all of the lost exp on other mobs, took my revenge against a lizard and logged off for the night. But before I logged I changed my bazaar comment: 'Nothing is fair here. Accept it.' FFXI is definately an appreciable representation of the real world, where nothing is fair and people intent on destroying the world for their own gain (Server/RMTs anyone?) get about with relative ease. Things that you think would not harm you can and, sometimes, will kill you. Some snakes that are just out of the shell carry enough venom to kill a man, it makes sense that an EP lizard in FFXI should have enough poison in Plague Breath to take out a player 3-6 levels above it...even though the players don't seem to have that sort of option until much higher in level.
(3)Now I can look at things with a sort of amused cynicism while enjoying the game, even if some mobs are incredibly cheap and RMTs never go away. Strange as it seems, I think I can actually enjoy the game more for it. |

| Silver Gryphons RP LS on Siren Server |
[Apr. 27th, 2008|04:34 pm] |
For those of you who are interested in roleplaying, The Silver Gryphons is a roleplaying linkshell on Siren server. The only RP LS on our server, as far as I know.
We do events together (CoP, RoZ, ToAU stuff). We finished doing the entire ToAU storyline together as a linkshell, and we have our own characters' storylines running on the side. We do Campaign together, we go on "camping trips" to different zones every few days, hunt NMs, and that sort of thing. We're also trying to do the WotG storyline together as well.
We do a bit of out-of-game RP on our forums as well for those of us who cannot make it on the game regularly who don't want to miss out on things. We've also gotten quite a few of our members up through the ranks in Assault since we also like to do those as well, time provided. We are an active LS with a handful of regular players who are always looking for more good RPers to interact with.
For those of you unfamiliar with roleplaying, it's acting. You play a character. You create a history for them, react in-game how they'd react, as long as it's within the bounds of the game. What this means is you cannot have a character with wings, your Elvaan cannot have a Mithran tail, your character cannot have armour you .dat modded in from ffxidats (ie, if you .dat mod in an Ares cuirass for a haubergeon, your character does not have an Ares cuirass in RP; they only have a haubergeon).
Roleplaying in this game is really a lot of fun and adds a whole new dimension to the game.
If you're interested in this -- or even if you aren't and you're just curious to see what RP is like -- please check out our forums at http://silvergryphons.forumcircle.com and join us! Registration is required to view the forums. Writing up a character profiles and having it approved by the mods is a prerequisite for getting a pearl -- we're generally open to all players, though. Be respectful and follow the rules and you should be all right.
If you want to know how NOT to RP, please check out the bad_rpers_suck community.
See you in game! |

So as of yet I haven't changed over servers. Over the last 3 days I have unlocked dancer and leveled it to 25. It's a great job. It was very easy to solo EP to Toughs. A RDM and I duoed VT gigas in Qufim. I pretty much soloed my way through the Valkurm levels by playing in La Thiene and Korroloka. Last night was my first party in Kazham in over a year. The puller THF was a bit on the awful side with links, deaths and spending 20 minutes trying to melee pull. We also could have used some damage spikes from another BLM or full on melee but I still got a level and a half with the party. It was NIN/WAR, DNC/NIN, DNC/NIN, THF/WAR, MNK/WAR and WHM/BLM. THF/WAR couldn't use sneak attack worth a damn and MNK/WAR was a whiff fest. Quickstep helped a little bit and with 2 Dancers it stacked to Lv. 5 lethargic daze fairly quickly. Divine Waltz would have been great to wake up the party when we were AOE slept but the WHM always seemed to send a cure to one of the Dancers last. It seems to generate very little hate for a "Curaga" style spell. 12 more levels with it and I can move back to my MNK main.. I think I may be transferring to Asura server. One of my coworkers plays there with a very social linkshell that will help out their members quite a bit. CoP Promy-Holla {Can I have it?} |

| | lazy | ] | Let's see, I haven't posted much lately mostly due to being very busy. And when I'm not busy, I've rather felt like playing than writing X-D But, I was able to finish my Thief job to 37 (towards the end I wasn't really enjoying it, glad it's over). After I did that, I decided to go do the dark knight quest finally, and work towards my goal! That was really long though, it took me about 3 days off and on to get the job, and maybe 3 more to upgrade Chaosbringer to Deathbringer :-O I haven't had a chance to play Dark Knight yet though since I got addicted to Warrior hehe. With Thief I mostly just stood by with lots of 0 damage hits, and once in a while I'd get to do a big 200-400 damage weaponskill. Warrior is a lot more consistent. I can hit for 20-70 damage every swing of the axe, but the downside is my weaponskills don't seem to be anything special. Another added bonus is the job ability Provoke, which lets me DO SOMETHING when I see something bad happening hehe. With Thief I always had to just sit and watch as people got beat up, I like saving people ;-P I had some free time on Wednesday and noticed there were some more Outpost Supply quests I had access to now, so I accepted them. After some death and adventure with Broodryu, I can now teleport to Li Telor, Fauregandi, and Valdeunia ^^ Also thanks Dot for saving me from killer sheep!!! |

|
Does anyone send greeting cards through PlayOnline e-mail? Childish as it may sound, greeting cards were something that I really enjoyed in the .hack//G.U. series because you were able to learn more about other 'players'. Likewise, since people cannot always be on and may not know each other outside of the game, I think it is a fun and amusing way to learn more about the people you play with. (The greeting cards are downloadable attachments so you would send them with a e-mail message.) I know that damn near everyone uses the flash mail or Message system in FFXI but I think that e-mail with greeting cards gives the person receiving the message a little something more...or maybe I am just trying to relive a childhood I never experience, maybe it's both. I don't know, I've been known to be mildly retarded on some days. |
