Unicorn and Lyon Face-Off in Mist Shrouded Forest Oct. 14th, 2005 @ 01:42 am
[info]animagusurreal
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Hello, haven't been on here in a while.

Here we have Rumplestiltskin (a.k.a. "Rumples") the unicorn and Sequiel, the former magical creature hunter, who has been transformed into a lyon, which is, of course, the unicorns' legendary enemy, facing off in a mist-shrouded forest.

These are characters from "Escapia", one of my many back-burner novel projects, which could possibly become another graphic novel project. It takes place in a medieval-ish land where magical cratures are being integrated into human society.

Rumples and Sequiel are friends who are on a quest to find the legendary land of Escapia, but at this point in the story the unicorn has been talked into luring the human into a trap by some vengeful fellow unicorns, and the "lyon" transformation is to encourage Rumples to finish him off (and also because I'd rather draw a lyon than a person :) )

BTW, about the name "Rumplestiltskin" - in the story, unicorns don't have names so as to be more mysterious, so Sequiel gives his unicorn friend a "mysterious" name.

Thought I'd tell you all that but I don't think it's neccicary to know to enjoy the picture - it could just be some unicorn and some lyon :) .

And about the fact that there's no room for the other unicorns' bodies behind those trees - it's a magical unicorn forest thing ;) .

The preview function isn't working so I hope this post looks okay.

It's designed for people to go on and recommend a favourite artist, or a new talent they've found. Mainly geared to anthro art.

So yeah...go have a look, join up, post and so on!

Looking for Custom Mood Icons, Emoticons Jun. 30th, 2005 @ 06:35 pm
[info]crypticvitality
Id like to have a set of mood icons made for my Live Journal account. Iv tried myself in Photoshop to alter images to make the colors unique but I can never get them to look as nice. So I figure the next best idea is to find someone else to do some for me. Of course I’m willing to commission for them, or a possible artistic trade. I would appreciate it if anyone that knows of anyone else that makes these can please give me a referral, unless of course you are a person that does them yourself :)

I’m looking for something along the lines of a wolf or a gryphon.
Thanks In Advance

Here's my new pic of Imelda "Pratfall" Cruz, my fun-loving anthro albatross Hollywood stuntwoman superhero character, soaring up through the clouds.

I may add some "zooms" or motion lines (or smudges), I'm not sure yet.

The last (and first) time I drew Pratfall was over a year ago! Finally, she gets a new pic.

Decided to keep this one really basic, no wacky textures, just pencil and solid-colored Photoshop paint, and just 3 clouds and a sky for background. When I was done, it kind of reminded me a little of "Yellow Submarine"-style art (especially the clouds), so thus the "1960's-style" in the header.

I'm not sure what she's looking at yet, either. I may merge this with another picture, to show it.

What do you all think so far? :)

Freaks!: How to Draw Fantastic Fantasy Creatures by Steve Miller

It's a good reference book, as it covers most animals, including insects.

Teaching-wise, it's kinda lacking, execpt for the first section dedicated to human anatomy. (We can't forget that now, can we?).

Overall, it's kinda worth checking out.

Foxy Lady - Need Anatomy Check Nov. 19th, 2004 @ 08:17 pm
[info]jakkal
This is a painting I want to work on for a calendar project I'm doing. This character is a female werefox, obviously in her foxen form at the moment. This pose is rather boring, and somewhat stiff, but I've got it stuck in my head and I thought I'd make a quick painting of it for the calendar anyway. (For August, it's a nice boring month).

In any case, I need to tell you a little bit about this character. #1 she's very skinny, like she looks like she's starving (Very little insulation there). At the same time she's got some pretty good muscles on her. Don't ask me how that works exactly. Her build is very similar to mine. So I sort of use myself as a guide. Unfortunately I can't see my back and I'm sure not going to ask my roomie to take a pic of me naked. Some extra info: She's a "Raekartan grey fox" which is a species similar to our grey fox from a world I developed for my comic, but she does have some differences. She also is what is called a "Kaetif" not just an anthro, so she has her own evolutionary traits that normal foxes would not have. For example, her nose and ears are larger than what a grey fox should have as far as proportions go. I do this for evolutionary reasons, heat loss and better breathing mostly. She also has a very long tail, which you can kinda see in the picture, but I wanted to make sure I got the core anatomy right before I added in the other stuff.

Other notes: She will be wearing clothes, but I want to make sure the underlying anatomy is right before I add them. She also has humanlike hair. The scene, I want to have her stretching on the beach at "suns set," as her world has two suns. I haven't thought much about the BG other than that, so suggestions would be appreciated.

Overall, I'd like an anatomy check. I've been staring at it so long that it looks right to me, but I want a second opinion. I know the pose is stale, but I'd like to keep it that way. I've also tried flipping it horizontally but that didn't do me much good other than the childish entertainment of watching her "dance" on the screen. :)

So have at it.

Hi all, just wanted to say hello :-D I have been lurking here for a little while. I haven't had anything really anthro-related to post until now...alas, I'm preoccupied with painting homework at the moment, so it will be a while before I can do any "fun stuff". Anyhow, my latest picture was done for a friend of mine, Fledchen.
