Indonesia Earthquake Relief [29 May 2006|11:47am] zgirl714 Hi! I'd love to write fics or make graphics in exchange for donations to the Indonesia Quake relief. Icons/Wallpapers/Banners Send me images, text that you would like, and what color scheme that you want or just tell me the pairing and fandom and I'll just run with it. The going rate seems to be a $1 for icons (I can't do animated) and $5 for wallpapers and banners. Here are some examples of my work Wallpapers and Icons. Fanfiction I write in the following fandoms; BtVS, AtS, Harry Potter, Charmed, Tru Calling, Veronica Mars, Supernatural, Narnia, and The Mummy. I'm very flexible in pairings, I only decline to write sibling/parent incest and chan. Threesome are fine. Crack!fics are cool, too as well as crossovers. If you want me to have Darla and Angelus meet up with the first Halliwell women before having a threesome with young Dumbledore then that is super. Or if you just want me to turn Dean into a cat and Sam into a girl then way to go, I'll write it. Both of those would be fun. Slash, femslash, het, and gen are all spectacular. Any genre is good, I like adventure fics a lot. I've written Oz/Ethan, Eve/Dawn, Ardeth/Evie, The Seer/Leo, Tru/Jack, and Ginny/Oliver so I can write non-canon pairings. I've been fiddling with websites since 1999! I like using PHP (but if you have Geocities or the like PHP won't work) and I can make graphics. I'd like to suggest $1 per 100 words to the Red Cross or UNICEF specifically targeted toward the Indonesia relief efforts. Possible fandoms: Veronica Mars, Buffyverse, Bones. Example fanfic. Alternately, I offer one vid (Angel, Buffy S1-S3, or Veronica Mars S1) made to request (although I reserve the right to turn you down if I really truly cannot work with the song). Examples of vids; "Fighting It" and "Sunset Boulevard" were created for this community in response to Hurricane Katrina, so you may want to look at those in particular. writing offer in exchange for/support of your relief donation [27 May 2006|11:39pm] entrenous88 I will write Buffyverse drabbles (100 words) or short fics (1,000 to 2,000 words) in exchange/support of donations made to the relief efforts helping the victims of the earthquake in Indonesia. I'd ask that you donate $1 per 100 words. So that's $1 per drabble, $10 per 1,000 words, $20 per 2,000 words. The drabble request is flexible -- if you'd like to donate $5, I could write you 5 drabbles with a variety of themes of your choice, or all with a shared pairing or character focus or theme. $10 would get you 10 drabbles, and so on. Make a request including character-focus and/or pairing, rating, and preferred elements/scenarios. Depending on requests, it may take several weeks for me to complete your fic. One caveat -- no Xander-in-Africa fics. It's a worthwhile subject; I just can't write it. Earthquake In Indonesia [27 May 2006|02:36pm] entrenous88 A massive earthquake struck Indonesia earlier this morning, leaving as many as 3,000 people dead and over 2,500 people wounded. Basic information regarding the disaster can be found at CNN's initial report: Indonesia Struck By Catastrophic Quake, and at the BBC's coverage here: Indonesia Quake Toll Passes 3,000 Some countries have already committed to aid packages, but of course more money will be needed as survivors continue to be discovered, field hospitals become filled with patients, and the after-effects of the calamity go into motion (food, shelter, need for medical supplies and upkeep of safe havens for displaced persons). Medical care teams are already swamped by demand, and patients are being treated and kept outside because there is no bedspace. Additionally, it is possible that volcanic activity may be set into motion by the quake, and if that occurs inevitably there will be more property damage, more victims, more need for care and comfort. Even without that potential outcome, a number of buildings are threatening to partially collapse or crumble because structures have been severely damaged by the quake. Please consider some ways you might help: Offer to donate with a request for particular fannish or other output: i.e., you will donate some set amount for every fic written with a request given by you, etc. This encourages your contribution, and allows fans who cannot offer money themselves to help in the relief efforts. Offer fannish creations in exchange for donations -- fic, icons, graphics, mood-themes, essays, drabbles, etc. Offer other materials/contributions in exchange for donations: crafts projects, fan materials like comics or DVDs to people who will donate for them, non-fandom icons and graphics, etc. Make a donation directly to charitable organizations: Among other relief organizations, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and other NGO are already helping or rushing to be part of the relief efforts. Urge politicial response by contacting representatives in your countries and areas and ask them to increase aid to this region -- right now the United States has pledged only $100,000, but may be persuaded to donate more as news continues to be updated. If needed, a master-list of offers to donate as well as offers to create/give in response to donation will be created. Please watch this community for a chance to help. E.T.A. Fic in exchange for for Pakistan earthquake relief [11 Oct 2005|07:16pm] bookishwench [ mood | hopeful ] I made a post during the Hurricane Katrina push offering fics/screencaps in exchange for donations to the Red Cross for aid in the Southern U.S. I'd like to repost that offer, broadening that offer for aid to go to Pakistan as well. Here is what I can do, slightly reworded. I generally write in the BtVS and AtS fandoms, but I'm also open to doing Firefly, Harry Potter, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Beauty and the Beast (the Linda Hamilton/Ron Perlman one), and Quantum Leap. Heck, if you want I'll do Doctor Quinn: Medicine Woman, Little House on the Prairie, whatever; if you have something you want that ain't listed, give me query and I'll let you know if I can do it. You can see examples of my work here. I write comedy, drama, character study pieces, missing scenes, parody, and the like. I also have an extensive collection of drabbles and will write them in a series if you wish. I'm entirely open to either het or slash, but no incest, rape, or non-con. I'm rotten at explicit smut or BtVS's Kennedy. The charge would be $1 per 100 words. Just let me know what you'd like. Tsunami's, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Fires. Maybe there have been years just as bad as this for deaths and damage by natural disaster - maybe I wasn't paying attention then - but 18,000 people in India and Pakistan, deadly mudslides in Guatemala - and that's just in the last 48 hours. Then you take in Katrina and Rita, and then go back to the Tsunami, and wow, I'm just in shock. Another kick in the butt to make donations.
