Ages survey
For all questions, answer the closest available to the actual number. I'm limited to 20 options per scale, and it doesn't accept numeric text-entry, so I've given what I think to be the best ranges practicable.

So if I'm 22, do I select 21 or 23?

Whichever's closest.

I would've picked "14 years before" (i.e., at birth) had the option existed, mainly in accordance with my view that empathy is a universal trait and not a special power.

How about "I grew up with being how I am, and discovered it on the way, but didn't label or identify it as anything for a long time because I didn't have that concept?"

I understand that. It's an ambiguous one, honestly. I'd call it whenever you came to terms with it, or became aware of what you were doing in an explicit way - not necessarily when you labeled it.

Breckan says it beautifully! Trying to answer "I learned about my empathy when I was __ " was a tough call.

The ages being in increments of two makes this hard to answer.

what about a link to a biological age calculator?

http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com/forum/health-age-calculator.php

yes, the ages being done with increments of two make it hard to answer, but that was within the parameters of the quiz.

Some people have less empathy or are less affected by it, and some of us feel that it has profound influence on our lives. As a universal human trait, some people choose to show more empathy than others. To some of us empathy is or can be, a spiritual base to keep from hurting other people as we are keenly aware of emotion, we treat others the way we would like to be treated.
met other empaths= age 12, instant friendship, almost a sister, we didn't have one ourselves. how soon does empathy begin then?

I will be leaving the proposed facts or in this case, freely admitted questions, open to mature debate rather than insensitive attacks on purported lapses in logic that can be refrained from in the strictest professional sense, since these are theories open to discussion, not a need to get offended, on the Internet of all places.

I'm writing out of prewriting and wanting to explore more the scientific nature of empathy although this board also serves its purpose to house people who also have spiritual beliefs regarding empathy that stating it is a natural human trait and nothing more, to them can be simply another opinion stated as it is, viewed without bias other than that of the person with the conflicting opinion.

It is a proposition then which can otherwise be disproven, that some people are affected by emotional impressions more severely than others, in heightened and various levels of sensitivity, dependent on the situation.

All this conjecture is also mostly dependent, on the physiology of the subject in question, or for that matter, their self-control of baselines once known, can allow for better control that arises out of age, knowledge, skills, even proper instruction.

Silly, I faound out about my empathy when my sister was born, two years after me. Hence how I have the lowest answer on this.
