Hello peoples. I was hoping I'd find a community like this.

I have known I was attuned to other people's emotions for years now, moreso than my own even (but that's another story). I have a specific topic I'd like to discuss with those that have had similar experiences. Empathy is a very broad and general term for a wide range of abilities, many of which I've discovered I had to a certain extent. This all deals with metaphysical and paranormal, even supernatural things. If some of you are thinking I'm nuts after reading this, skip the rest. ;)



The thing I'm curious about is specifically spiritual communication. Yeah, talking to the people on the other side of the coin of life, to put it one way. I have recently discovered I can communicate with a specific few people (spirits/souls/whatever you want to call them) and was wondering if anyone else here had any experience with this.

These people I communicate with are not anyone I've known personally (in this life, as far as I recall). They are, however, individuals I know of, who a few of my friends can also talk to. I believe this newfound ability started because of my connection to "the other side" for lack of a better term to explain the other plane of existance, and my empathetic ability to sense their emotions. Then I found out I could actually speak with them, not just sense what they felt and where they were.

To get to the point of this, I was just interested about whether anyone in this community has ever had any encounters with "friendly spirits" and any suggestions on how they get a clearer mental communication. I've found that lighting candles and drawing energy from the flame sometimes helps replenish my energies, but it's not always enough.

I've found it can be very mentally draining to carry on a conversation after a while and often because of my mental fatigue, I cannot always hear what they say or even sense where they are, though I know they're around.

So, in closing, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Since you say some of your friends can talk to the same spirits, have you tried passing a message to one of your friends through the spirits to see if the friend can receive it?

Yes, and it's worked. :D It's not that I have doubts about that, I was more concerned with how I can focus my energies better because I don't always get a clear mental connection to communicate. I have a very short attention span, which contributes to some of the problems I have I'm sure.

They'd probably give you a message to relay in one room while a friend in another would need to receive it. If you can do that, hey easy money, plus fame.

Making money and gaining fame from my abilities and also my friendship with these people goes against my morals and ethics. :/ I'd never use any spirit as my personal messenger to make a few bucks. I respect them too much to do that, and could give a rat's @$$ what the entertainment business thinks of what I and others can do. It is not entertainment, it's a special connection.

I don't mean to sound cranky, as you probably didn't intend to get this reaction with your comment, but on a personal opinion level, I was a bit put off. Nothing personal however, as it is just my own views on the subject.

Sorry, no intent to offend. I just thought you'd want to know. It's not the entertainment industry, it's the scientific one. And if I were a spirit, I'd want someone to prove my existence. But the choice is, of course, yours.

Now that I read a bit on the site, I can understand what you were trying to say more. Sorry if I came off badly. ;)

To a certain extent, just talking with living people is enough for spirits to prove they're around. Some might agree to this scientific test, but the one's I know, as well as myself, would not want to be so public about it. I have little doubt I could pass the test with a friend, however, neither of us wants the fame (though the money would be nice I suppose) and we also think that it'd be breaking a few unspoken rules that exist between our different planes. Communication is allowed, but proving it to the scientific community and others who don't share this ability seems to be not only difficult, but not allowed for the most part. I believe the reason it's failed in many cases is because it isn't supposed to be proven, it just is. I know this causes skeptics to feel they're right about doubting the existance of such abilities, but what they don't understand is pretty much the same thing I don't - why it's not allowed to be proven without a doubt. I have a few theories, most concerning the fact some spirits think it's either not worth the effort to, or consider it beneath them or some similar thing.

has anyone tried shamanism/drumming group? or celctic journying or something of the sort? i have, and it's not just for empaths ;) just requires someone with an "open" mind

This sounds familiar =P There's a spirit that hangs out in my bedroom that I communicate with from time to time. Though he's a bit of a jackass and likes pulling things he thinks are funny but that usually just piss me off -_- like moving my stuff without telling me and then I can't find it... We never really speak with words, well I do but he doesn't talk back in that manner. It's his emotional changes that indicate his responses, usually. So if you're crazy, you're no crazier than I ^_^ Though you seem to be far better at it than I am~
