Hello and welcome to ellinika_mp3, the first Greek mp3 sharing community. Brought to you by Terr and Ria, this is where you can post, exchange and request mp3s by Greek artists or in Greek. Sometimes random video files can be posted or requested, but they either have to be by Greek artists or using the Greek language. Otherwise, there've got to be other communities more related to your upload. Of course, this community has been made with a view of getting more people to know Greek music. However, the mp3s are NOT meant to substitute for the original CDs. If you really like what you're listening to, don't forget to support the artist and team who worked to make the CD and purchase it.

1. This community is members only, so you have to join if you wish to have access to the music.
2. All uploads should only be done in sites yousendit.com, rapidshare.de or megaupload.com unless you have your own website.
3. Please comment! Uploaders spend a whole lot of time uploading 40 or 50MB files for you, so you should at least boost their morale.
4. I'm repeating. The mp3s are only meant to be samples and not substitutes for the real works. SUPPORT THE ARTISTS by purchasing the albums if you like them.
5. Last but not least, treat others the way you want to be treated. Nobody minds if you're not feeling yourself. It's not our fault that you're not in your mood, so we don't have to suffer the consequences. Flaming and insulting is totally FORBIDDEN.

| 10 Greek Songs You Should Listen To |

Hi! I just joined this community and I hope people start uploading more often. This is a great way to share greek music, which is so hard to come by these days. I know I have a tough time finding what I want!
This idea just came to me a little while ago while I was listening to one of my favorite songs of late, "To Fili Tis Zois", which means "The Kiss Of Life" in greek, by Helena Paparizou. I thought I should share my current top 10 with the community, along with short descriptions and translations I wrote for the songs. (Not placed in any particular order of preference.)
Giorgos Perris - Paizei O Erotas (=Love Is Playing)
This is a song that's used as the theme of a very successful The Bold And The Beautiful-type soap series here in Greece called "Erotas" (=Love). I'll be honest here and say I've never watched it before. I only chanced upon it one afternoon I had nothing better to do, and when I heard this song I flipped. Literally. It's very pretty and heart-warming. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside. XP
Alkistis Protopsalti - O Aggelos Mou (=My Angel)
Although she's kinda old now, her voice is still very beautiful. This is a simple, yet elegant song. I like it very much. Despite it having double meanings. XP
Foteini Darra - Fevga (=Leave)
This is a recent song I discovered, and it sounds ethereal and magical. The lyrics are strange, even in Greek. There seem to be double meanings everywhere. But it's still very beautiful. If you listen to it once, its melody will haunt you.
Helena Paparizou - To Fili Tis Zois (=The Kiss Of Life)
Now leaving the sappy romantic love songs and going on to something more up-beat and dynamic. Helena Paparizou won us first place in the Eurovision contest of 2005 with the song "My Number One" and since then has had nothing but success. This specific song is awesome. Guitars, rhythm, style. It's all there. XD
Dimitris Korgialas - Horis Esena (=Without You)
I like this guy a lot, even though he dresses like a goth put plays techno-pop music. This is actually the first song of his I heard, and remains one of my favorite to this day. He wrote the music and the lyrics himself, too. Now that's what I call a musician!
Giorgos Tsalikis - Sta Pliktra Tou Kormious Sou (=On The Keys Of Your Body)
"Keys" here meaning the keys of a piano. XP Sometimes, we Greeks have one word for a phrase other people use while sometimes we have long translations of a single word (like in French, I've noticed). Another sappy love song. Yes, I tend to be a sucker for them.
Giannis Kotsiras - Se Erotevomai (=I'm Falling In Love With You)
The whole word-thing I mentioned before is proved here, too. For one word we have, in English it's one long phrase. Ah, well. Kotsiras is a favorite of mine, and this song was one of the songs that made my heart flutter. Yes. I AM A HOPELESS ROMANTIC SO SUE ME.
Thanos Petrelis - Anifora (=Uphill Climb)
Don't judge this song by the title. It's really good. Although Petrelis's music is kind of traditional (the so-called "laika" as we call them here), he's not as horrible-sounding as everyone else. I mean, who wants to listen to that high-strung Greek guitar/lute thingy all the time? I don't! I abhor it! But this song is actually pop-rock sounding. Go figure!
C:REAL - Meine Dipla Mou (=Stay By My Side)
C:REAL is a Greek band that has finally found the success they deserve. This specific song is, in my opinion, their most heart-felt and beautiful. I adore it to pieces.
Mihalis Hatzigiannis - Horis Anapnoi (=Without Breath)
And here, we reach the last song in my top 10 list (remember, they weren't put in any specific order because I love all of these songs equally). Mihalis Hatzigiannis is a hunk! Really! And he writes the music for the majority of his songs. What more do you want? XDDD
I hope you don't mind I uploaded these files on Mediafire. It's really much easier for me as I've been using it to upload everything else. If it's a bother I can just upload all these songs in a zip and upload it on Rapidshare or Megaupload. Please comment if you download!

Welcome to the first Greek mp3 sharing community in lj. This is our first post here. ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) razthebunny and I are the maintainers and flame_butterfly will make us a layout featuring Niko Verti when she gets home.
Some extra stuff for you to remember:
1) You HAVE to be a registered member of the community.
2) Accepted file extensions are .mp3, .m4a, .mp4, .wav. Nobody likes protected .wma files.
3) Post at least once every two months. I understand people are busy, but why be a sharer if you're too busy?
