| All cops--real or whimsical--need backup, right? Well, if you're too late to join the team you were interested in, or you'd rather just be a backup for the challenge in any case, you've come to the right place. Up to three backup writers will be assigned to each team to begin with. Backups will join the team comms and get to participate in all the team-building shenanigans, and are encouraged to start writing their fics early (either incorporating any necessary prompts later or hedging their bets by incorporating a few prompts in the same story). If all of the regularly-scheduled writers deliver their fics on time--as we hope they will!--any already-written backup fics will be posted to ds_flashfiction as "dessert" fics for everyone to enjoy during the interminable waiting period between when voting closes and when the results are announced. :) Sound like your type of thing? YAY! We glomp you gratefully! All you need to do to sign up is leave your LJ name and a contact email address (not your default LJ one, please) here. Please also indicate your team preference: Reality, Whimsy, or either. And if you'd like to sign up and all the initial slots are already taken, please feel free to leave your information anyway--in the event that the bus carrying everyone's creative juices goes over a cliff somehow, it's always good to have a few backups for the backups, too. Thank you!! :D | |

| Welcome to the DS Match Challenge SIGN UPS! Read this first! This is a TEAM challenge. You are signing up to be on either Team Whimsy or Team Reality. You CANNOT sign up for both! Each Team will have 14 members including Team Captains -- nos4a2no9 for Reality and zabira for Whimsy. There are 14 prompts and we'll assign each prompt to one person from each team. Fics will be posted anonymously by Sage (Team Reality) or China (Team Whimsy), along with a poll. Readers will vote on how well the story meets the genre (whimsy or reality) and the quality of the story. At the end of the challenge, we'll tally up all the story totals and name one team the winner! Individual story totals are top secret and will never be revealed. Fic requirements- 1000 words minimum (no max limit)
- must fit the team genre (reality or whimsy)
- must use the assigned dialogue prompt; a character may either say or think the prompt.
- must include any Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio combo (F/K, F/V, K/V, F/K/V).
Each team must produce at least one fic for each of the above pairings. Team players will be expected to beta at least one of their team-mates' fics. You will have 5 weeks between prompt assignment and first-draft deadline, and then another week to beta and rewrite. For more details about DS Match, including rules concerning last year's defaulters, see the DS Match Fine Print. At 1pm Chicago time today, we'll make a separate post here on ds_flashfiction where people can put forward their names to be backup writers. Each team has 13 open spots for regular team players. These will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Ready to sign up? Okay!! Click Me to Sign Up for Team Whimsy!!Click Me to Sign Up for Team Reality!! | |

|
| troyswann and brynnmck took a road trip and got inspired: We saw this sign which we promptly named "Compulsory bondage!" and we thought that maybe a road/traffic sign challenge could be good. "Dead end," "Yield," "Construction zone," "Beaver crossing" (okay, that last one isn't real, but you'd be amazed what you can find in the way of traffic signs on the internetz). To which I say \o/!! It's July 1 (Happy Canada Day!) -- stories are due by midnight, July 15, Chicago time. | |

| Title: Travelled on his looks (2200 words) Author: petronelleFandom: due South/DCU Summary: For reasons that do not need exploring at this juncture, Benton Fraser is on a rooftop in Blüdhaven, New Jersey, a city which Ray describes as having "all the charm of a pig farm in July without the damn bacon." Characters: Fraser, Ray K., Dick Grayson, Tim Drake Rating: All ages (some cursing) Notes: For Jack, because there are only so many characters who crossdress for justice, and they ought to have a chance to commiserate now and then -- although this is not one of those chances either. Thanks to sageness for beta reading. ( Benton Fraser, unlike some people, is not a superhero. ) | |
