It has been an incredible first month. We have had hundreds of unique listeners
tune in from as far away as Finland, Canada, Hong Kong and dozens from our home
base in Tampa, FL.  We are particularly happy to welcome out German visitors
which have made up almost 20% of our listenership. Now that we have stablized
some of the technical launch issues, we will continue to add to our library of albums
so that there will new music in rotation everyday including some smaller, but very
interesting regional talent.

We also have new sets from DJ Devious, Maus and DJ Xanthus set to premiere
next week. In the next few months, we'll continue this trend with the programming
shifting towards more Djs, more often. You'll hear club sets from England, Germany
and all over the US.

Thanks for your continuous support!!

A fantastic new outfit from Nightshade modelled by the ever lovely [info]fracture242. We have permission from 'Gill' who promised to open up the carousel for us at 10am.... 11.20 they finally arrived, and we discovered they had gotten they days wrong. So by the time we were able to take our photographs, Covent Garden was heaving with people, (for those here in the UK know how manic it can get. [info]fracture242 was so professional, and bam bam bam ... not missing a beat ... pulled of the pose ... even though we managed to attract quite a crowd who were in turn taking their own photos. .

WDS Sream train ride sun wgw 10/2006 [Oct. 19th, 2006|03:50 pm]

There have been a couple of issues regarding the details or this, and I am sorry that it has taken me so long, but......

The cost is £20 each, and we are leaving Grosmont at 10:45, which means that everyone who wants to can get to the footie afterwards.
The 24 places reserved on the salloon are full, but there are other carriages on the same train.

If you think you have a place - you probably do! I will confirm this if you email me on rebeccalucy1@yahoo.com

WDS Masquerade ball 01/07 [Jul. 6th, 2006|09:49 am]

bexylu
Whitby Dracula Society's third annual masquerade ball will be on the last weekend in january, as usual. The date is January 27th, and the theme this time is dreams and nightmares.
As past winners, the best mask, king and queen of the ball etc will be judged by Bry@ngst and Waylander. As usual, the room will be transformed into soimething really spectaular, the tables will be laden with goodies and the music will be fabulous. If there is enough demand we may have a soiree the night before too, but this would be much more intimate - great for newbies, and for old friends to meet up.
Tickets are £10 members, £12.50 non members.

The last two January balls have been just fabulous, and now that the tickets are available, they look set to fly out - pre-sale enquiries have been excellent!

Whitby Dracula Society Poetry contest - X posted

Press Release 18/5/2006

Whitby Dracula Society presents

The Harker Prize for Original Poetry and Verse

Whitby Dracula Society is proud to announce the launch of The Harker Prize for Original Poetry and Verse. This is a new, annual poetry prize intended to encourage and promote the creation of new poetry in the tradition of Gothic Literature which has so long been associated with Whitby, owing to the patronage of one of its most celebrated guests, Bram Stoker.

The theme for this year’s contest is simple. The title, or subtitle, must be one of the following fragments from the novel, Dracula.

A Stone Passage to a Circular Stairway
The Phantom Shapes
Sleepwalking on the Cliff at Whitby
Over Kettleness
Dark Figures are on the Beach

The first prize is £100 and there will be runner-up prizes of £25 each. Entry costs £3.00 per poem, and there is no restriction on how many entries an individual may make.
Each poem will be considered by a panel of judges, and subject to suitability will appear in a compendium of the poetry entered into the contest. This will be published by Whitby Dracula Society in the autumn of 2006.

The cut off date for all entries is 31st May 2006, and the winners will be announced at the Whitby Dracula Society AGM weekend, on the 30th June/1st July. 2006.
