[ADMIN] Important stuff...slightly borrowed. :D
Okay, not borrowed, shamelessly stolen from [info]kielle's post on [info]marysues

Please keep your story excerpts SHORT and never, ever quote an entire story.

Why? Because the LJ admins are starting to breathe down our necks about "copyright violation," which applies if the entire story (or most of it) is reprinted without permission. Excerpts are perfectly legal if credited and unaltered.

In short: we've put a ton of effort into this community, so don't let the Suvians win -- pick only the gems, don't paste in the entire bloody thing!

Okay, but seriously, this isn't a legal issue so don't whine about "fair use"...this is a LIVEJOURNAL TOS ISSUE, and given that it's their site, they don't have to be fair about it.

But, FWIW, if we do end up going the way of Fandom Wank on LJ, I do have a few Journalfen codes squirreled away and we can restart over there. ^_^

They got TOSed (I think someone reported them for harassment), tried to come back, didn't make it, went to Blurty, got TOSed, and then someone friendly to them offered them space (or maybe made them space) on www.journalfen.net, where they will not get TOSed. *grins happily*

I was planning on making a comm somewhat like this specifically for MST , but according to the TOS , I can't make a community MST'ing whole stories because of their copyright? Wouldn't it be more true to say admins are sick of suethors whining at them and it's the only thing they can think of to comprimise? They HAVE no copyright...right it's fanfiction!

Fictionpress ( an off shoot of ff.net as I'm sure you know) has copyrights on ALL stories submited but it's not ff.net . They require you to say you don't own any of it ( legally they don't own their sues and shouldn't say so in their "claimers") when you post... I don't actually understand what reason they're giving...and no :P I'm not complaining because this means if I want to MST ( instead of spork) I'll have to make my own site.

Why exactly can't you (or me [ I?]) mae a community dedicated to mockingt he "creative" efforts of others?

Oh wait, harassment? I'm sorry I'm only looking at some fo the posts but how can somebody be harassed if they don't know you're doing it? I mean MST'ers( sporkers too) don't typically ask for permission, do they?
