[Ichigo] The Inquisition Awaits!
The look from Momo was really all he needed to squelch his urge to join the three shinigami. It was the "Mom Look." It had been so long since he'd seen such a stern glance from a woman of authority that he'd forgotten how instantaneous obedience followed.

Though his only other option was to follow Tatsuki and the others and he wasn't really looking forward to facing the inquisition his long-time friend promised in both that statement and gaze. He sighed, resigned to his fate. He tossed a menacing glare at the orange plushie and held it at his side by the hand. This mess was all Kon's fault as far as he was concerned. Everything had been normal until he'd flown off the roof.

Sighing, and followed the girls (he included Ishida as one of the girls), back to the classroom. This was going to be so much fun! Especially since as far as he knew they had a free period as their regular history teacher had suddenly won the lottery and had taken off to locales unknown. Lucky bastard.

[Tatsuki] News From The Front

As they returned to the classroom, Tatsuki picked out an unoccupied corner and everyone sat down. Watching Ichigo carefully for an attempt to escape, she carefully considered her approach. Orihime's sad plea had changed Tatsuki's attitude considerably: It was no longer just a matter of curiosity, it was a matter of Orihime being unhappy.

Ichigo might not know everything, she knew. But she trusted him not to lie to her face - if he knew something and couldn't tell them, he would say so. ... at least, so she hoped. She and Ichigo had grown more and more distant in recent years, and perhaps she didn't know him as well as she thought she did anymore.

"Let me start with the important question." Tatsuki took a deep breath and calmed her nerves. "Things are happening to Orihime and I that we can't remember. Since about a month and a half ago. You heard about when Orihime's apartment was damaged, right? Neither of us can remember what happened that night. Every time we think we remember something, it turns out to be something ridiculously weird."

Tatsuki paused and glanced at Orihime. "There's another part last month during the day. We were commenting on you being absent and then I thought I saw you out the window or something... And then I can't remember what happened, but the classroom was trashed and all of the desks were upturned."

"And..." Tatsuki paused again. Orihime should have been present that time two days ago, but she hadn't mentioned anything about it. That might have been something different... Tatsuki decided to save it for later.

"I think you have something to do with it because of what I can remember. When Kan'onji's TV show came to down, Orihime and I both heard some kind of wailing, and then you went berserk and charged at the stage. And sometimes when I hear a sound like that during class, you excuse yourself right away and take off. Once, out the window, I saw a ghost that looks like you, but dressed in black and carrying a sword."

Tatsuki leaned over the desk to glare at Ichigo. "You know something, don't you? Spit it out. And tell us about that puppet with a soul in your bag while you're at it."

[Orihime] I DO believe in fairies! I do! I do!

Orihime remained silent during Tatsuki's spirited monologue. What her friend was saying made sense. After all, she and Tatsuki had compared notes of that one night when her apartment had had a gaping hole in the wall... and all they could remember were brief flashes of someone who looked like Rukia in pajamas... and Orihime could have SWORN she'd talked to her brother that night, although she realized that such things could only be described as hallucinations and therefore not real.

But Tatsuki remembered things, and saw things that Orihime also saw. And now she was brave enough to pipe up, glancing uneasily in Ichigo's direction.

"Kurosaki-kun... Tatsuki-chan's right. And... not too long ago, there was this big ugly squid thing that controlled everyone... and it..." She paused and had to take a deep breath before plunging in. "It tried to kill me and then it hurt Tatsuki-chan really badly, and so I... well, there were these flying MIDGETS, only Shunou said not to call them that, and they were my power and they helped me defeat the thing... I think Urahara-san called it a Hollow?" She looked pensive for a moment, then sighed. "But I don't want any of my friends to get hurt anymore, so I need to know more. Kurosaki-kun, can you tell us anything?"

[Ichigo] Answers. Oh and... Blame him!

So this was what a full scale interrogation felt like. He'd wondered exactly what Tatsuki wanted to ask him, but he really hadn't expected the barrage of inquiries. He was frankly boggled by how much they seemed to grasp and how utterly useless Rukia's memory device was. Yet, there were two things that had gotten Ichigo's attention. Tatsuki had seen him as a shinigami, and Orihime knew what a Hollow was, fought one, and knew who Uruhara was. Ok so that was closer to four things. Whatever.

Heaving a heavy sigh, Ichigo flung Kon onto the desk
and let him sit there. He also slouched deep in his
chair with his hands in his pockets. He honestly didn't
know what answers to give them. He had so many
questions himself, but he could at least hope to put
them at ease. "Okay. The memories. Rukia promised me
you two wouldnt remember anything, but that was before
I knew that you, Tatsuki, could see ghosts and you,
Inoue, Hollows." He gave each girl a glance. "As for the
Hollow you fought, blame Ishida for that!" He pointed at the Quincy with ill-disguised accusation. He sighed again and rubbed his head. "Fuck! There's just so much. I dunno where to begin and this is not something we should be talking about at school."

[Tatsuki] Just Getting Started

Tatsuki was an experienced, tough, and even a creative fighter. And she had fought Ichigo more often than anyone. With fists and with words, for practice and for real, on and off for almost a decade.

So she knew what retreating Ichigo looked like, even if it was a rare enough sight. And she knew that when he retreated this easily, it wasn't because he was scared, but because he felt guilty. So Tatsuki applied more pressure. Methodically and scientifically.

"Then why don't we take a walk. You and I can walk out of this building and you can tell your story anywhere you want. You can start at the beginning, and you can work your way all the way through to the end. And you can take your time. We don't have a history teacher for the time being, we won't even have to miss class."

[Orihime] Not Quite Getting It

"Huh?" Orihime shifted her gaze to blink quizzically at Ishida. "How is it Ishida-kun's fault that we were attacked and almost killed by the squid Hollow?" She absentmindedly poked at Kon, lying abandoned on the desk, and felt like there was so much more to know and learn about all of the mysteries that had been circling around Ichigo since she had first met him. She was pretty sure that HE wasn't a robot... after all, robots couldn't make such funny faces! A giggle escaped, but then he was abruptly serious again.

"Tatsuki-chan, I'm coming too. If Kurosaki-kun is going to explain things better than I want to be there with you both." After all, they didn't have a teacher, so no one would know they were gone, and what harm could come from an innocent walk?

[Ishida] Pleading the fifth for now.
[info]firstmidnight

Hoooo? He was bringing him into this now? After Ishida had been so kind as to enter the class room behind them a few steps and relinquish his normal seat which was close to Kuroskaki's and sit in the back until class started to give them their privacy for their all important talk?

Hearing that a Hollow attacked Inoue and nearly killed her made Ishida frown softly but the expression passed quickly enough. That had hardly been his fault. Kurosaki had been negligent in realizing that there were others than his family in this town with high spiritual powers. Kurosaki was trying to shift the blame of that onto him? Divert Arisawa's wrath and demands for answers to him?

Kurosaki had agreed to that Hollow-death match. And Ishida had hardly intended nor was he going to allow anyone to get hurt that day, intending on taking out all the drawn Hollows himself.

Though not that many should have been attracted, it hadn't been that high a level of Hollow bait...

Moot point. He still hadn't figured out that yet though.

Calmly reaching up to adjust his glasses on his nose, Ishida said simply, "You suck, Kurosaki," and then returned to the book he had open on the desk.

Tatsuki hesitated at Orihime's request.

Whatever was happening did concern Orihime, and it did seem that Ichigo would be able to answer some of her questions. About what had happened at her apartment, and at Kan'onji's show, and in the classroom that day.

But what Orihime said about the squid sounded like another false memory. Tatsuki had had them too - for a while she really thought that a sumo wrestler had destroyed Hime's apartment. And until she had thought about it really good and hard, Tatsuki wouldn't even question the possibilty of Bunny Warrior Mizuki busting into the classroom and upturning all of the desks. But Tatsuki had figured out how to tell the difference between false memories and real ones. Orihime, it seemed, had not quite.

Aside from the bizarreness of the squid and the faeries, Tatsuki herself had not been injured. She didn't have a gap of more than a few hours in her memory, and when she woke up she had been fine.

So Tatsuki allowed herself a selfish thought and considered telling Orihime to stay behind. Perhaps, if they were going to talk about Ichigo running around outside of the body, and howling monsters, it was best to leave faery fantasies behind.

But it did concern Orihime, and perhaps Ichigo would be able to put her at ease about the gaps in her memory. Tatsuki did not argue with Orihime, instead maintaining her menacing glare towards Ichigo.
