It all began when I lost Oscar, My black lab...my baby:( I was at the animal shelter looking for him when a man came in with a box full of kittens. The workers said that they were going to euthenize them because they were too young to eat on there own. I heard this and begged to be able to take them and nurse them myself. The jerks wouldn't let me have them. I even went to the head honcho and asked. He said that since they were already in the system there was nothing he could do. Lucky for me and the kitties one of the animal control officers was standing behind him and gave me a wave as if to say, "It's taken care of..." So he snuck out the eight kittens and I plonked them into my backpack and took them home. They were between two and three weeks old and were SERIOUSLY cute! So after a trip to the pet store for formula and bottles I was prepared to be a new mommy. Bottle feeding eight kittens is not an easy thing...seeing that I had to feed them every two hours it felt like all I was doing day and night was mixing formula, feeding kitties, and whiping little kitten butts. Good fun:)... Speaking of whiping little kitten butts...this is where Rusty comes in. Turns out he is really good at this. So I would feed the babies and then pass 'em over to Russ to clean their bottems -it was actually a huge help. haha. The kittens started bonding with Rusty and day and night you could always find him in there "mothering" the kitties. They would even try to nurse off if him...haha. He learned how to carry them and would pick them up and move them around the house, moving from room to room...anyways. Here are some other photos of Rusty and the babies...
Sophie..My Lhasa..Just liked poking at them. haha.
I love this one cause it looks like the baby is laughing..haha
Checking up on things...
Sorry there are so many pics....Hope they were worth the upload time!
Oh my gawd. Rusty is such a sweet heart! You should take video if you have it too... OR! Maybe call the local media for a public interest story? Rusty is amazing!
AWWWW *crying out loud* you warned us and I pick a look anyway *CRY* This is the most beautiful LJ story and pictures I ever see. Having a pretty hard time lately, I can say that your post help me out.
Thanks to you and little family for saving them =*^)
Oh my gosh! This pictures made my day! How super of you to save these kitties and how special that Rusty has stepped in as "mom". Gettin' a little misty-eyed here! :)
that was sooooo cute! When I rescued my Guenny, she was a lil starving kitten who's mum abandoned her. Flash, my Doxie did much the same thing, (after he tried humping her a bit) and so now Guenny thinks Flash is her mama...I bet these kittens will feel the same about Rusty :)
Okay... THAT is adorable! My Rowdy might do the same thing, but he's just so darn curious about cats and they won't hold still long enough for him to figure them out.
My.
God.
Yes. Well worth the time.
Species, gender ... all irrelevant when it comes to love. Keep snapping the pictures.
