more smiles, please!
I've noticed (and a few members have commented) that the mood of this community has been shifting from positive to more negative, and that we aren't celebrating our curves so much as commiserating about them. I think it's important that we have a chance to vent or reach out for support, but I really want to keep this community a positive and uplifting experience. So we're going to try a new rule:
If your post isn't celebrating curves, please put it behind an lj-cut that explains what the post is about. For instance, if you want to talk about some of your struggles with anorexia, put it behind a cut that says "about my struggles with anorexia" -- or if you want to talk about how angry it makes you that the media doesn't portray healthy women, put that behind a cut that says "ranting about media images of women." And if it's off-topic, put the whole post under the cut. But if the post is celebrating curves, such as talking about a victory in loving yourself or something curvy-positive that you've seen, feel free to leave it un-cut. If your post is half-positive, half-negative, just put the negative part behind a cut.
And please, share any curvy-positive thing that you find. Even if it's as simple as "I saw myself in the mirror today and realized that I'm pretty" -- it's encouraging to read.
Off topic posts have to at least be related to healthy curviness OR positivity. So they can be about ED-recovery, although that is off topic, or about self-esteem, although that is off topic, but not about unrelated things like makeup or personal issues that have nothing to do with body love. That means that intro posts have to include something about positivity or healthy curviness -- even if it's just "I'm ready to start loving my body."
P.S. feel free to comment your opinions on this!
