Dissidia Kefka, entirely Joker? Not quite...

Wassup, fellow fanatics?

Pardon me for being behind on the times, but I recently discovered a picture of all ten protagonists for Final Fantasy Dissidia:

Now... does anyone have any work of the antagonists? Specifically Kefka? I know there are screen shots released from the game of Kefka and his size -4 waist, but have there been screen shots of actual ARTWORK?

If you're in the mood to hear some voice acting, FFVI style, I recorded a bunch of voices of various characters. Download them here if you're interested! It comes with a character guide, but if you wanna cheat, here's what you can expect:

Custom Kefka...doll?

I know there's at least one person on here besides me who has a custom Kefka doll. Maybe we can send them our pictures. Although I don't know who made mine, someone got it for me.

So for fun (and because direct deposit at my job goes in a day early) I was on eBay looking up FFVI doujinshi, and I spotted something that caught my eyes. Upon clicking on the details, examples of pictures inside the doujinshi were features, including this:

I find it strange that the only part of that backstory (which has been verified elsewhere) that's actually mentioned in the GAME is that he was the first test subject.

...dammit, I like my backstory better.

ff_compilations is claiming that this is Kefka. That would be the purplish cloud, not the red figure in the foreground (even though red figure does have the Amano Kefka tendency to pull his leg up).

But frankly, if that *is* Kefka, he's the most obscured of anyone on the Dissidia poster.

I can kinda see it...if his cape is all the way around him and it's looking down from above. Those tendrils coming off the bottom right could be his feathers, and the yellow in the middle could be his hair.

But everyone else looks more or less like how we know them. Why obscure him so much?

...and why isn't Kuja on the poster when he's also confirmed for the game?

Author's addendum
Somehow in my own little confused universe, I have come to see this fic as a "companion" piece to my Final Fantasy VIII fic The Salt Flats (Seifer/Quistis). Besides the obvious physical similarities, such as the very similar writing style I used, I think that there are similar themes explored by both stories: destiny, childhood memories versus adult reality, atonement, and the consequences of amibition. The FFVIII fic does have a slightly happier conclusion; I guess you could argue that Heart Funnel is happy enough in its own right, as it deals mostly with Celes and how she overcomes her obstacles in the end, but to me, it's more of a bittersweet ending as she reflects on what she's lost, while Quistis at the end of Salt Flats reflects on what she has gained.

Kefka was a challenging character to write, not only because the FFVI canon gives him little to no backstory, but also because I was striving to portray him not as he was in the game, but as the person who Celes and Cid and the others must have known before he became that way. Obviously, he was not always stark raving mad; from the short history we are given, I infer that Kefka was a very smart, very forward-thinking man who simply got caught up in his own ambition. (Qualifier: Although of course I do very much enjoy stark raving mad Kefka, for it is refreshing to have a villain who is villainous simply for its own sake, without a terrible and angsty past. AND HE IS NOT A WAITER)

I suppose you could think of this fic as a love story, much as The Salt Flats is at its core a kind-of-love-story, but more of a love story dealing with memories and places and nostalgia and loss than the (more obvious) romantic overtones.

So by now we've all seen the Jenova's Witnesses strip. But we all know that the Cult of Kefka is vastly superior to anything that mama's boy could cobble together. So how do we prove it? And moreover, how do we get a strip about us?

If memory serves, weren't all of Sephiroth's followers clones of himself or other experiments? Kefka managed to pull in one of the HEROES to follow him! A hero with no prior experience with him no less, none of this genetic bullhocky.

And forgive me if I'm assuming too much, but Magi-Master was totally Kefka's high priest, right? Because Seph's followers were far too disorganized.


Anyone who can draw some take on this is much appreciated.

Kefka skit from 2003. That's me as Kefka and yes yes, I know the costume sucked. But I had fun, and I hope you do too!

And you can see how old this is, since there's a part about Rufus being killed by Diamond WEAPON (when we find out in AC that he survived).

People came up to me after the skit and told me that I was the only one in the whole show that they could hear in the back. If there's anything you can't hear in this, just ask.
