Saturday photos have been uploaded, through the 5 o'clock hour. (I'm still working on uploading pictures from the last six hours of the day.)

So -- if you'd like to tell me who's in the photos, or what they're wearing, or both, please do so! Post a message with the album name ("3 pm Saturday photos by Jack Krolak", for example). Let me know the photo number (the 6-digit number at the end of the picture title) and who's in it. If there's more than one photo in a row with the same people in it, just give me the first one -- I'll spot the duplication when I go to put the captions in.

Thank you all!

I've just been given the handout info from the Costume Exhibit! So if you want to post captions for photos from the exhibit, you can just give the picture number and the entry number (or for example "n/n Caveman tunic" if there's no number for the entry).

Thanks to everyone who posted captions here on LJ for pix.cc26.info. I have just now caught up with everything posted since I last asked for help... ummm, let me see.... five days ago.

If you haven't had a chance to look at the "unsorted" photos and tell me who you recognize, here are the guidelines: pick an album, post a follow-up here with the album name (such as 10 am Saturday Photos by Tom Tonthat). For each person you know, post a picture number (the six-digit number at the end of the caption) and their name. You can just write et seq. if it's the first of several photos they're in.

When I catch up on that album with your comments, I'll post a follow-up comment. So you can scan down the thread and see which albums have already been annotated (and whether I've sat down and fixed the website yet).

For those who've already looked at it, I'm working on the Saturday photos now. Mostly mid-day, and it is taking me a while, because captioning and sorting the ones we already have takes priority!

Anyhow. I just thought I'd let everyone know I'd managed to catch up again, and it's your turn to zip on ahead of me. :)

Only 254 days 'till Costume-Con 27 begins!

Have you figured out what you want to wear? Have you entered the Future Fashion Folio (deadline is October!)? How about a quilt?

There is so much to see and do around Baltimore! Gettysburg is just over an hour away, the Textile Museum is about an hour south in DC, the Walters Art Gallery is in Baltimore, and if you come out the weekend before, Fort Frederick (about an hour or less) is hosting it's 18th century Market Fair and Rendezvous- a re-enactor's shopping heaven! For fabric shopping we have G-Street Fabrics in Rockville, and Discount Fabrics in Thurmont (on the way to or from Gettysburg!).

Aug. 15th, 2008 @ 08:50 am CC26 Photo update: Friday/Saturday
Current Mood: chipper
Thank you to everyone who posted caption info yesterday! I'm caught up with all of the posts from yesterday, and I've started uploading a handful of Saturday photos. (Mine, for example.) It'll take me a while to work my way up to the F&SF Masquerade, so don't hold your breath.

Instead, go to pix.cc26.info, and pick one of the "Unsorted" albums from Friday (or Saturday). If you see anyone you recognize, or if you can tell me what the costume is (or both), post a follow-up here. Use the album name as the subject line, for example 8 o'clock photos by Rebecca Rowan, and give me the six-digit number at the end of the caption and the name. (It helps if you split messages up by album, by the way.)

Thanks again for all your help. It's going a lot faster than if I tried to do it all on my own, peering at badges in the photos that caught them...

Aug. 13th, 2008 @ 07:43 pm CC26 Photo Update: Friday
Things have been moving very slowly on the CC26 photo archive front. You may remember that I had been asking for captions here, and then I stopped. Well, I'm back in business. I have uploaded almost all of the photos from Friday.

You can find the Friday photos here. The eagle-eyed will notice that there are three photographers missing -- but all the photos from the other 21 photographers are online.

Most of them are filed under "unsorted." I'd like your help. Pick a section, such as "11 o'clock photos by Rebecca Rowan" and see how many people and/or costumes you can identify. If someone's in several consecutive photos, just tell me the first one. (Use the 6-digit photo number at the end of the caption.) Post the name of the section as the subject line in your follow-up message here. (Please, no snarky comments about how I should have recognized so-and-so, as I've just spent many hours just getting the photos in place. It's a very mind-numbing process. I'll do my own pass through shortly, but I'm going to take a little break first.)

And thank you for your help! We've got a lot of typing ahead of us...

EDIT: Keep 'em coming! And thanks for putting separate sections in different messages, that helps. When I've processed everything you list in your message, I'll post a reply to it.

Aug. 9th, 2008 @ 09:31 pm CC27 - Fashion Design Contest
If you like to design costumes on paper as well as make costumes,
please, please consider entering the Costume-Con 27 FASHION DESIGN
CONTEST.

It's less than TWO MONTHS to the October 1 deadline for this contest,
so I am trying to contact as many groups as possible to try to get the
word out.

Rules are here:

http://www.costume-con.com/cc27/future_fashion_folio.htm

You DO NOT have to be a member of the convention to submit designs.
You DO have to be a member of the convention if you have winning
designs and want to make them up for the Fashion Show at the con.

PLEASE PARTICIPATE! Designing is an art form, and we want this contest
to continue!

Make sure you check out the "special categories" for the contest this
year:

(1) Design for this year's convention theme (Vampires, Villains and
Vixens). Sponsored by Ricky Dick and Marty Gear.

(2) Design a new costume for your favorite anime character. Sponsored
by Karen Dick.

(3) Closed-Loop Costuming (designs using recycled materials).
Sponsored by Gypsy Ames.

This doesn't mean you can't design anything else you can dream up!
These are just special categories in addition to the rest of the contest!

Thanks, and hope to see your designs Real Soon Now!

Hi, all!

Thanks to more help from [info]kproche than I can enumerate here, we've FINALLY moved Costume-ConNections (http://www.Costume-Con.org/) to its new home. It may take you a day or so to see the change (just came up for me), but you'll see it shortly!

Because of Kevin's hard work, the gallery has transfered intact, with no errors we could find.

If you notice anything weird with the site now that it's been moved successfully, please let us know ASAP!

Send email to Karen Dick or me, please, or comment here.

We'll be adding the two missing CCs (25 and 26) starting around Labor Day. As always, if you notice information on a record that is incorrect, let us know and we'll fix the problem!

Enjoy!!!

The rules are up on the CC27 website <http://www.costume-con.com/cc27/INDEX.HTM>. I'll post them here also (under an Lj cut!), but the quick upshot is that they are pretty much the same as the last few years with one exception: If you are entering as Historic Interpretation, submitting documentation and going to workmanship judging ("pre-judging") are optional! However,  if you don't participate in those areas you obviously aren't eligible for an award in those areas - this may or may not be important to you, that's why it's an OPTION. Going on stage is required for all entrants and of course anyone entering as Historic Dress (aka: re-creation) must participate in all 3 aspects.

Jun. 16th, 2008 @ 08:57 am Stage info
plans for CC27 are coming along wonderfully!

For example, did you know that you can already reserve your room for next year?? <http://www.costume-con.com/cc27/Hotel.htm>

We have cool info about the stage for you.

First of all, the stage will be 16' deep, 24' wide, and 2' high  - and that's useable space - not shared with the MC podium or light trees or anything. And we expect to be able to cover it with a seamless "dance surface", so no getting a heel, wheel, claw or whatever caught between the panels! Also, no stuffy room with no air movement: Our stage will be at the far end of the lobby atrium: with the bar & restaraunt on one side and the con suite on the other side (and bathrooms right near the con suite). This atrium is 3 stories tall on one side and 5 stories tall on the other side! You can even see it looking out the windows of the atrium guest rooms (how cool is that!). So no worries about fitting tall costumes onto the stage,  and plenty of seating and airflow.

And to get you started on tech ideas, we will be using the great East Coast Technofandom folks!  We will have a "Cyc" (Cyclorama) permitting us to produce color backgrounds as well as silhouettes.  There will be spotlights, colored lighting, (all customizeable so you don't just have to have someone's idea of 'default' unless you want it) and most probably video reinforcement.  Details will follow when we get somewhat closer to the convention.

Recorded sound should be in .wav or .mp3 files.

The Single-Pattern Contest will be held on Friday night at the Social! Since the stage will likely be getting put together, entrants will walk a marked path through the audience between cafe tables, stopping at pre-determined, illuminated spots to show their designs. The Future Fashion Show will also follow this format, although it won't be on Friday night.

Hope this helps with your planning!! If you have questions, ask away.

May. 28th, 2008 @ 09:16 am more Single Pattern Contest
here is her second post, including pics of the patterns. Go forth and pattern!

CostumeCon 27 Single Pattern Contest!
Yep, it is time once again for my favorite part of any Costume Con, the single pattern contest. Woo-hoo!

This year we have two beauties that lend themselves both to innovative reconstructions and creative fabric embellishments – historic or fantasy. Take the pattern and make it into anything you can dream up. (See below for more detailed information on the patterns and links).

Personally I think I'll make an evening gown for myself and trying a new dying technique I learned for my husband's – both from the duster and shirt pattern. You can check out my progress right here in my blogs.

Hey novice sewers, this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet with constructing a costume! These are easy and forgiving patterns to sew. Aw heck, glue the thing together if you want. We love it all!

Or if you already sew, this is a super fun way to get up in front of people and show off your work.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

If you would also be so kind to let me know if you plan on entering, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Now go wild and have fun!!

May. 28th, 2008 @ 09:13 am Single Pattern Contest
Hi, I'm reposting a couple entries about next year's CC27 Single Pattern Contest. It's going to be really great - and held on FRIDAY NIGHT during the Friday Night Social! Here are a couple posts by the MD (smartpuppy).

Tell me about Single Pattern Contests
So now that we all know what CostumeCon is. What is a Single Pattern Contest?

Welp, it's when someone like Ric and I (your Single Pattern Contest Directors) pick one or more commercial patterns that he/she feels have potential to become any number of imaginative variations or lend themselves to a variety of fabric manipulation and embellishment techniques.

After that it is up to you to let your creative juices flow and morph one of these babies into your own vision.

Come CostumeCon time (May 1-4, 2009, Baltimore, MD - BTW hint, hint) then either you or someone of your choosing models your fabulous creation for all to see. At this point the judges have to make what is usually a very tough decision and pick who best displayed their vision for that particular pattern.

But in this contest it really isn't about the winning. It's about exploring, testing, creating, and just plain having fun. For novices, it's an easy way to get started creating costumes. We've done the hard part for you - picking what you want make.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Cheers, Ann

Next, the upcoming Single Pattern Contest...
