    Scarlett's Corset
    Hi all,

I'm at San Diego Comic Con for the weekend. After reading this community for awhile, I think I am FINALLY going to buy a corset! Scarlett's Corset is at the con and they fitted me today and I took a look at some of their corsets. I liked what I saw, but I've never bought a corset before, so I was curious if any of any of you had any opinion about them.

    Thanks!

    Hullo.
I've made myself quite a few corsets, having sucessfully drafted my own patterns, but corsetry is expensive, and I would like to challenge myself by making a corset for a different body type, so I was wondering if anyone was interesting in comissioning an affordable, semi-custom corset?

I'm experienced with neo-victorian underbusts and overbusts, not for waist-training, but very sturdy three layer corset, using a full set of your measurements.

My rough price would be around $120 USD, depending on the amount of boning, cost of fabrics, and bearing in mind that I live in New Zealand, and I'm not sure how the currency conversion works via electronic transfers. This covers the cost of hardware and fabric, and the approximate time it takes to make the corset.

I usually take roughly two weeks to finish, depending on outside interference.

A comment on here is fine as initial contact. You can also email me at peoplecomeandgo (AT) hotmail (DOT) com.

26" Amy Butler print cincher, $75
Hello everyone.. After recently moving and expecting two corsets in the mail in the next few months, I decided it's time to clean out my closet a bit to make room.

I only have the one picture of this corset on my computer right now, but if anyone is interested I can take some more in the morning. I am asking $75, which includes shipping in the US. I can ship outside of the US, but I will have to find out how much it would cost.

One reason I am asking so little for this cute little cincher is that when I opened the box it came to me in, I accidently put a little tear in the binding.

Few more pics here : http://flickr.com/photos/jillscorsets/page2/

The corset itself is made with Amy Butler print cotton fabric, double boning. The binding and laces are made with pink satin. There are also four garter loops.

The waist closes at 26", there is a modesty panel.
    underbust ~ 28-29"
    hip ~ 34-35"
    busk lenght ~ 10"

New Corsetier Looking to Expand Client Base
    (Cross-posted to Corset_Shoppe.)

Hi all! I've been meaning to post for a while. I recently graduated with a BFA in fashion design and started freelancing. I love corsets and have made several (about 8). As you are about to read, I am very much up to exploring less common or traditional means of corsetry, so if that sounds like fun, please contact me!

Here's a picture of my last commission.

Since I'm just starting out, I'm looking both to expand my client base and my skill set. For these same reasons, I'm also not charging very much (compared to more experienced corsetiers). Price (time + materials + shipping) obviously varies by client, but a 2-layer underbust could likely be around $120 and a 3-layer overbust maybe more like $220. I'm also open to doing a corset-dress or something (perhaps pants with a built-in cincher?)

I guess my work would fall under the umbrella of "semi-custom." I'll ask for several measurements (not just bust/waist/hips) after we decide on a style, and do a muslin mock-up with rigilene bones (you may have to mail this back, depending on the necessary adjustments) before making and sending you the final garment.
Since I just started freelancing I don't have a "typical" turnaround time, but because the post office will be involved more than once, 4 weeks doesn't sound unreasonable.

I use a fabric that if it isn't official "coutil" is very coutil-like (a tight, heavy herringbone). I can set in a busk but would also love to play more with alternative closures (alternative lacing placements, zippers, what have you). The way I make corsets now is suitable for waist training but not tightlacing. I usually bone along every seam, using spiral steel and framing the grommets with flat steel.

For fashion fabric I have a fairly large stock; cottons, silks, etc... I'd like to try covering a corset with knit (t-shirt) fabric, perhaps. And of course I can also go to the fabric store and find something.

I live in Salinas, CA. I don't drive but I could probably bum transportation for somewhere within a two-hour radius (probably about 100 miles) or so. If by some stroke of luck you live in the Monterey Peninsula or San Jose, a meet-up would be fairly easy to arrange.

You can see my website here. It has more pictures and illustrations.

If you're interested, leave a comment or e-mail me ( marianne at popantique dot com ) with your name and an idea of what you have in mind.

    Paging melantha71
I bought a "baby pink" corset set from you in early June, the original post is here:
    http://community.livejournal.com/corsetry/1594354.html

If you'd recall I paid using two echecks which both cleared on the 12th of June. It's been over a month now and I haven't recieved anything.

EDIT: She got back to me :) Results pending!

    Corset Search
I'm looking to mimic a corset for a Dragon*Con costume, which is coming up at the end of August. I know... short time frame. I had a couple of people who said they wanted to do it but then lacked communication, so....

    See pic here )

I'm not wanting to spend a small fortune to do this and I can do an OTR fairly well around a 26 or so. I did find pretty much what I wanted at Versatile Fashions (170CM LaLonde Corset since it didn't link properly) but seriously, for a costume corset I'm not looking to spend quite that much. Not really wanting to go over $200 to be honest.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    lovely new corset
I bought this lovely new corset and unfortunately its not the size that was stated, so im selling it on

its size medium, id say it would fit a size 12/14 nicely

its red and black and made of a lovely silky material, it has bones in it but they are not rigged steel bones nor are they flimsy high street basque like bones.

Ive got it up on ebay f(i think thats a real bargain at buy it now price £30 but you can also put a bid on the item)

My latest corset comission=extremely shaped underbust
Here is a pic of the latest custom corset I finished. It was made for a local burlesque dancer, Calla Doll, and has a very extreme shape. Finished measurements are 27 underbust, 18 waist, 36 hip. It's made of dark pink satin with lighter pink satin outer casings and has flase hip gussets (pieces cut shaped like the dome of the hips, but are not true gussets). It has two sets of loose straps (lined with the same fabric) she is going to tuck the back straps into the front of the corset to eliminate back fattage and tie the front ones around her neck halter style, weird request I know, but when she tried it on it looked just fine. She can also criss cross them and tie the fronts and back together. It's backed with thin batiste and lined with medium weight cotton trigger and of course has waist tape and bi-directional back lacing. Boned with 1/4 flat steels on all the seams. Outer Casings are decorative only, bones are actually sewn on the inside of the corset lining.

Corset has a few pulls/wrinkles in the photo this is due to the following factors:

    A) It doesn't fit the pillow and is being pulled funny, and also it's extreme waist to hip ratio was a beeyotch to fit together nice and totally smoothly.
    B) Is SATIN (Satan)
C)It was made for a burlesque dancer who wanted a lot of movement and a very lightweight corset so it is not heavily backed/lined
    and
    D) Did I mention It's hellish satin?? Good. :)

I like how it came out overall but I still loath sewing satin.

Also I would love to have an 18/36 corseted waist to hip ratio but alas I live in the land of 28/44 :)

    latex corsets
so usually i'm just a lurker in here
and i do comment once in a while
but i guess there's eventually going to be first post

i'm just sitting here at the HWdesign office and they finally updated their shop site with the corset i had them make me a few weeks ago. ;-)

They usually make heavy rubber corsets and they end up being quite costly.
Here's a way to simply get the more out of the piece (and save some money) by designing one with an interchangeable panel :-)

i'm posting it in here because i really do love this thing and i'm quite excited about it :D

    Support advice?
I have been wearing corsets for several years, but have so far only purchased underbusts due to my er...challenging bust size. I wear a 32 DD bra (I measure roughly 36 inches around the bust) and have a naturally smallish waist (I usually aim for 26 or 24 inch corseted waist size). I am shopping for a corset to wear at my wedding in October. I love the look of the Mechantes Diva design, but I fear it won't offer the support my "girls" need.

Any suggestions, or experiences with similar situations?

(Also, off subject a little...if anyone has any suggestions for where I can find a good floor length bustle skirt and/or bolero jacket to wear with said corset, it would make my day!)

I'm very open to other corsetmakers and designs, I just really like the look of the Diva. Good bust coverage, a defined hourglass, and a nice slope over the hips.
