Pour tous:
I met someone who didn't know how to make accents on their computer so I thought I'd help all I could :)
In LiveJournal, we can use HTML without having to use the formal tags such as <HTML> and <body>, <meta>, etc. BUT, we can use tags to do smaller things, like change the font, the color, and to make accents and symbols! When I want to make an "è," for example, I type è, and that makes an "è" in the final entry when posted. When I need reference (as I've memorized most of the symbols that I typically use), I go to a great site that has a big table with all the symbols and accents.
You can see the accent table here.
I also use a better symbol chart here.
I can also make the accents just with keystrokes on my computer but that is only for Macintosh OSX and I don't want to explain to everyone how ot make accents on their specific computer!
*cross-posted everywhere*
EDIT:
On MAC OSX, I hit "option, e" together and then hit E and it makes è... or "option, e" together and hit a and it makes à... so this is the formula:
OPTION + E = ´
OPTION + U = ¨
OPTION + I =
OPTION + ` = `
OPTION + C = ç
After you've done the option combination, just type the letter you want the accent over... for example:
to make à
type "OPTION and e" at the same time and then type "a" or "A" and you get: à or À
