I had a GREAT time, thanks to you all! *hugs* (I wish I didn't have to leave so early, sob sniff boohh)

I am looking for a few songvids I would like to have -- tried YouTube and imeem but no joy, so help is appreciated:

- Icebound (?) - Due South
- (some fast rock tune) - Charlie Jade (I know this is desperate... sorry)
- Papa don't Preach - Torchwood
- Holding Out for a Hero - Hercules


ETA: thanks for the links, folks! (the one for Icebound is not working but I'll keep trying)

Hi,

I've been back for less than a day but I'm already missing Connotations like crazy! Thank you so much to Teh Girls in Charge for doing such an amazing job. I'll definitely come back next year :-)

Now, I have a favour to ask. I fell in love with a bunch of vids on Saturday night and, though I've found a couple, some of them are still missing. Could some kinds souls maybe either upload the vid, or if it's too much hassle, link me to a place where I could download them?

Here's the little list :

Dark Angel: Logan/Alec - Girlfriend
SGA: I Could be in Love with Someone like You
SG1: IIRC Daniel centric, Rasputin

It was so wonderful to see you all, to meet new people, and to get that rush of fannish squee in such concentrated form! I very much fear rejoice that the pimping session has worked on me, and I must now rush out to find shiny new things. Squee!

And yay for the hotel not being heated to the surface temperature of the sun! (Though, was it just me, or did other people find the air in the hotel oddly dry? I pretty much had to dunk my head into my moisturiser this morning).

As some of you will remember, last year we ran a Slash Top 10 poll. We hope to do this again this year so please get a voting form (they will hopefully be available at the desk once I arrive and put them there) and return it to the desk by the closing ceremony. It was very close last year so make your vote count!


There was some discussion about having certain roundtable sessions. I just thought I would remind people... and see you in the bar :-)

We wrote of this before, but since it was a while ago, I thought I'd mention it again. A couple of people will arrive tomorrow already and might be interested in doing something together. My plane is scheduled to arrive at 17.00, so I hope to be there around sixish myself. I might be up for some food, if nothing else, or just hang out together and so on. If anyone has any medical issues that they wish to let the con committee know about can you drop a line to losthouse@gmail.com.
None of us are qualified first-aiders or can offer anything other than a common sense response should anything go wrong but if there is any guidance or emergency contact info that people want to leave with us in the (hopefully highly unlikely) event that something happens, we would be most grateful.

Mainly, i want to know if there is anything i can do to help if you try to drop dead in front of me :)

You are under no obligation to tell us anything and all information will be treated with the strictest confidence although I may ask you a few questions and/or ask for your permission to let the minions on duty to know general details if it's appropriate.

(just in case you haven't been to Connotations before:
Me -> Minion in Chief, she who fetches and carries for [info]temaris and [info]moonlettuce so they can get on with actually organizing the Con.
Minions -> Con attendees who have selflessly volunteered to fetch and carry on my behalf. There should be a minion on duty in the main room at all times)

Hello there -
as the just-appointed moderator of this panel, I'd like to invite y'all to contribute outstanding depictions of good villain(s)

- texts can be fan fiction or published fiction
- outstanding means very good but also very bad
- it helps to specify why you made your choice

Please post or send to me in advance, if you can -- otherwise, bring with you at the con.
If I have the texts by next Wed Oct 1st, and if they're not over 1 page long, I can make handouts for the panel. Otherwise we'll figure it out at the con.

Thanks for helping make this a group effort!

Thank you for voting! The tallies are in, and I've been sorting out moderators and smooshing a couple of the panels. The list of panels that will run is at the end of the post because first of all, we have three panels looking for a moderator, and a fourth one looking for either a mod or co-mod. They are:

Cliches in slash: Good, bad and plain old ugly. The most over used phrases and descriptions in slash writing. Can they ever be a good thing?

The seeping of internet culture into everyday life -- Rick-rolling and lolcats etc. Is it a good thing? Does it make it easier to come out as a fan/internet junkie when these things go mainstream?

We All Love a Bad Guy! How to write a good villain - discuss...

RPS / RPF: what *is* that about? Ngaio is willing to co mod, or step back and let someone else do it ;-)

If you want to volunteer, comment here. I'll need to know when you *can't* mod, (travelling etc), and if there are any times you'd prefer not to mod.

My roommate can't come! This is sad, and also means I could do with a roommate. Does anybody need a room? I am quite clean and quiet and can provide refences to say that I'm not an axe-murderer or anything. :)

Okay, the Park Hotel are being ... difficult. Pomkeygeekange's post was literally the first we heard about it. Claire has spoken to the hotel, who said that it is now 'company policy on Great North Run weekend to ask for payment in advance'.

Please check the terms of your booking confirmation letter. If they have said that they will take a day's payment in advance, then they can't change that on you, unless it specifically says in the letter that they can change the terms at any time -- which takes us into territory I can't comment on. I have not seen an confirmation letter, and we aren't lawyers.

If they call you, quote the terms of your confirmation letter. If they insist, then ask to talk to Ian Sinclair, the events manager, ask for him from the general phone number -- 0191 2571406.

The pressure apparently is coming from their parent company due to the Great North Run happening the same weekend as Connotations.

They seem to giving different people different messages, but they should be willing to accept either one night in advance, or your credit card number. They appear to also be willing to delay somewhat. If you *can* pay the full amount in advance, we reluctantly concede that at this short notice this may be the best thing to do.

Apologies for the crossposting, but we will be sending this to everyone that we know has signed up with the convention.

Help! I could only now wrestle time off my Evil Job to come to the Con, but of course the hotel is full!!!

A little later than planned (it's lunchtime somewhere, right?), but here's the poll on panels.

There are some very similar sounding panels -- pick whatever you think sounds good, and you can vote for everything if you really want to ::g::. There will only be 13 panel slots and the top thirteen on Saturday will go through, though we may smoosh together panels with similar themes which have a number of votes by different people.
