My Server is Down [Sep. 20th, 2008|11:00 am]

persis
Hence NO e-mail for me for the past week and a half. If there is anything important that I should know about, please post it here.

I have a slight conflict with the con comm meeting (Arisia Corporate Meeting at 2 pm at MIT) so I'd like to ask that the publications discussion happen as early in the agenda as possible. The plan is for me to be there at 1.

Shore Leave [Jul. 8th, 2008|08:49 pm]

madfilkentist
According to my calendar, Shore Leave is this weekend. Is anyone going there who would like to bring ConCertino flyers there? You can download the current flyer here. Please reply so that we don't get duplicate efforts. If you want to be reimbursed for copying costs, let me know.

(Also posted to my own LJ.)

Update: [info]stevemb has said he'll take care of it.

Just wanted to let people know that we have a usable registration form up on the ConCertino website. It's located on both the Homepage and the Membership page. The prices are accurate, if not all of the guest titles are. :)

ConCertino travel options [Jun. 24th, 2008|12:01 pm]

madfilkentist
At the gripe session at Contata, I responded to the question "How do you get to ConCertino by public transportation?" by saying that must be a Zen riddle. Fortunately, the situation isn't really that bad. Here are a few possibilities.

The commuter rail line isn't as sparse in its schedules as I thought it was. Several trains run even on Sunday.

The Amtrak Lake Shore Express runs once a day in each direction between Chicago and Boston, with stops in Albany and Worcester.

Greyhound runs buses to Worcester.

All of these routes run to Union Station in Worcester, which is about a mile from the hotel.

Kickoff at Conata [Jun. 14th, 2008|04:23 pm]

madfilkentist
Contata is less than a week away, and we'll be there to tell you all about ConCertino 2009. We've got a great lineup of guests, and we'll be back at the filk-friendly Crowne Plaza Hotel in Worcester, Mass. We'll have a special registration rate ($45) only Contata, so your best bet is to talk to one of the con committee members (we'll make ourselves known) and register.

If you're feeling generous, you can get a premier membership for $80. Transportation costs are a bit scary right now, so your extra support will keep us from having to dig into MASSFILC's pockets. We'll give you special acknowledgment and some goodies at the con.

Concom meeting at Boskone [Feb. 9th, 2008|08:34 am]

madfilkentist
The first meeting of the ConCertino '09 committee will be at Boskone, in the Dragonslair space (thanks, [info]persis!), on Saturday, February 16, at 5 PM. Anyone who'd like to get involved with running the con is welcome to come.

We're having problems with the concom mailing list right now. If you haven't been getting any concom-related email and think you should have been, or if you've been trying to tell me something and I seem to be ignoring you, drop me a note.

Anyone else have pictures to share?

I vaguely remember someone taking my picture during the interfilk action auction. I am curious how those pictures came out. :)

My belated, not-a-con-report is here.

Thanks again to Interfilk for sponsoring me, and to Persis and Robin for ground support!

Post con expedition [Jul. 3rd, 2006|07:57 pm]

[Current Mood |sweltering]

So, after the con, chatting with people who were lingering before going home, one of the departing guests happened to regale several of us with Seanan's expedition to see Turtle Boy, Worcester landmark and, er, objet d'art. This aroused the curiosity of our listener guests, who had never viewed the ..statuary.. as well as Joel Polowin who took the photographs I've linked to above. So we ventured forth in company to examine the piece. Comments were largely along the lines of, "Oh. My."

It has been proposed by certain individuals with sick senses of humor that if we hold Concertino in Worcester again, Turtle Boy should be our mascot. Opinions?

We only made it to the dead dog, and most of my pictures were blurry, but here's the two worth sharing. :)

Dave Clement, looking as good as his music. (That's Ed Stauff's MIDI Dragon in the way.)

[Current Music |"Hollywood's Ending" by Ookla the Mok]

Hey guys, I had a blast!  I want to thank Interfilk for bringing me out there, and also the concom & folks who kept things running smoothly, in particular: [info]filkerdave, for heroic impromptu guitar at the drum workshop; [info]quadrivium, for loan of her keyboard and playing along; Dick Eney, for loan of the dumbek; Victor & co. for a wonderful consuite; Robin and Holly for various good things; the members of the Academy... oops, wrong speach.

To everyone who requested lyrics, it may be a couple weeks - my apologies.  Work has decided that I can too cram in another business trip between now and my trip out to the Bohnhoffs' to record.

Thanks to a generous donation from [info]tigerbright, [info]concertino09 will be a paid community until August 11, 2006. Among other things, it means that people can post pictures to the community.

I just wanted to add my own thanks to everyone who came and made this an enjoyable Con.

[Current Location |Worcester Crowne Plaza]
[Current Mood | and a bit sorry it's over]
[Current Music |hotel AC (and maid wants to know if I'm ever going!)]

And thus ends Concertino 2006.

The gear is loaded, the function space returned to boring business groups, the rooms paid for and the guests and members on their various ways home.

Mike, Mary, Nancy, Bob and Mabel were all fabulous guests (and kept pitching in to work, bless them!) and we immensely enjoyed having them with us- both on and off the stage!

The convention committee worked very hard and pulled together to make this a success.

And we were graced with a number of people who jumped in to volunteer at critical points and made everything run like clockwork. Anyone would think we'd planned it that way!

Thank you all, safe travel, and see you at the next con-

Hugs,
Robin Holly
