THE ashes of legendary grunge musician Kurt Cobain have been stolen, according to his distraught widow Courtney Love.
The Nirvana frontman's ashes were taken from Love's Los Angeles residence.
Cobain's ashes had reportedly been stored in a pink bear-shaped bag, along with a lock of his trademark blonde hair.
Clothes and jewellery were also taken from the rock-star widow's home.
Love was horrified by the theft and has told the media she is "suicidal".
"They were all I had left of my husband," said Love.
"I can't believe anyone would take Kurt's ashes from me. I find it disgusting and right now I'm suicidal. If I don't get them back I don't know what I'll do." | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| i've been listening to Nirvana since i was 8 or 9 (i'm 26 now). when i was 10, i got the Incesticde album for Christmas. my two favourite songs on it were (and still are) Son of a Gun and Molly's Lips.
being 10, i thought that when Kurt sang, "she said she'd take me anywhere as long as i stayed clean", he meant as long as he stayed clean, literally. with soap.
i was listening to Incesticide yesterday for the first time in ages and when i listened to Molly's Lips, it struck me that he didn't mean clean with soap, that he meant clean without drugs.
or so i thought. because i finally got around to listening to the Vaseline's original versions of Son of a Gun, Jesus Don't Want Me For a Sunbeam, and Molly's Lips yesterday. and Frances sings, "She'll take me anywhere, As long as I'm good and clean".
and now i don't know how to interpret it - not dirty, or drug free? anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this? | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

"...artwork and scribbles borrowed from Cobain's personal notebooks" will appear on the sneakers.. they'll have wear and fray detailing and Kurt Cobain's signature subtly embroidered on the shoe's outer..The shoes provide a rarely seen glimpse into the head of this musical and lyrical genius with sketches that display his hopes, dreams and lyrics from amazing songs such as 'Come As You Are.' | Tony Wilson was the music mogul behind some of Manchester's most successful bands. He was the founder and manager of The Haçienda nightclub, and was one of the five co-founders of Factory records. Wilson was also known as Mr Manchester, dubbed as such for his work in promoting the greater cultural status of Manchester throughout his career.
Wilson's involvement in popular music stemmed from hosting Granada's culture and music program So It Goes. Wilson saw the Sex Pistols at the Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall, in June 1976, an experience which he described as "nothing short of an epiphany". He booked them for the last episode of the first series, probably the first television showing of the then-revolutionary British strand of punk rock.
He founded the 'Factory' night at the Russel Club in Hulme. He later founded the record label Factory Records and the Haçienda nightclub in Manchester.
He was the manager of many bands, including A Certain Ratio and The Durutti Column, and was part owner and manager of Factory Records, home of the Happy Mondays and Joy Division (later New Order) - the band managed by friend and business partner Rob Gretton. He also founded and managed The Haçienda (FAC51) nightclub and Dry (FAC201) bar, together forming a central part of the music and cultural scene of Manchester. The scene was termed "Madchester".

| Director Gus Van Sant's fictionalized take on Kurt Cobain's suicide is similar in tone and execution (pun unintended) to Elephant, his fictionalized take on Columbine; which is to say, the film is virtually devoid of dramatic narrative, offers little if any understanding of its characters or their motives, and, though its art-film pretensions insist otherwise, ultimately exploits the hell out of its subject matter. Which would be okay if either film were at least entertaining, but, given their source materials, they're not because that would be, well, exploitative. Both movies are basically punchlines we already know to jokes that were unfunny to begin with.
Anybody can point a camera at someone pulling a trigger; making us understand why and allowing us to experience the sense of loss that comes from pulling the trigger, that's a different matter. There's more I'd like to say about Last Days, but, honestly, the movie already robbed 97 minutes of my life. I'll be damned if I'm going to surrender any more to it.

| | February 20th would've been Kurt's 40th birthday. What are your thoughts at this time of year, about the band, about their success, about the music, their grassroots, Kurt's life and family? Everything.. | comments: Leave a comment |

| As a new member I thought I should at least post something, she here's one of my favorite Kurt quotes. I got it out of the book "Journals", the culmination of his old journals and notebooks.
Uncertainty, like opening your eyes wide in the dark then closing them hard, then open and blinded by the sparkling silver dots created from preassure on the corneas, squint, roll, focus, then your blind again but at least you saw light somehow" KurtCobain | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
