    MUSIC VIDEO PITCH COMPETITION
I entered a pitch in a contest for a music video. The winner gets to direct a video with RSA Films which is Ridley Scott and Tony Scott's production company. For those interested in films and/or music videos and making connections with industry professionals, you should go check it out and maybe submit a pitch of your own:

Which movie am I thinking of?
There was an obscure comedy that I saw on HBO or Showtime a few years ago. I don't know the director's name, any of the actors' names or even the characters' names. Does this sound familiar to any of you?

A girl (looks kind of like Natalie Portman) grows up in a small New England town where most girls end up getting married at a young age. Her parents are strict Catholics. She's very smart and wants to go to college in New York, but no one supports her except for her male teacher, with whom she has a slight flirtation. She's kind of skinny and awkward and doesn't fit in with her peers, but she befriends the new girl in town. I remember one scene where these girl bullies approached her while drinking chocolate milk. I also recall her wearing a red and black lumber jacket.

    EDIT:

in case anyone is interested, the movie is called "new waterford girl". it doesn't take place in new england, but in canada. and it's amazing. go see it!

    Hey guys
I apologize for the cross-posting. I'd love it if some of you guys wouldn't mind checking out the early trailer to my feature, "Hold The Mayo". It's of the drama/comedy type.

    Starring Anthony Pinggera
    Written/Directed by Hunter Altman

(PS theres a chance that I posted a trailer to my first feature, DRIHY, here, a few years back. That film has been finished and I'm working on self-distributing it in the near future.)

Attn New Jersey Classic Film Fans!
The West Orange Classic Film Festival is starting up again at the AMC Theater in West Orange this month. I went yesterday to see "Spartacus" on the big screen, and they have a lot more coming up. This year, they've even added a couple of foreign films to the list, which I'm looking forward to. Here's the schedule:

    Attention New Jersey Movie Geeks
There are a few cool things coming to local Bergen County theaters.

Last week I saw that Cedar Lane Cinema in Teaneck is presenting a special event on Monday, October 29th at 8:00pm. They are showing the original 1925 silent version of The Phantom of the Opera, complete with a live organist. It's a cool opportunity to see a silent classic the way it was meant to be seen. I only saw this on their marquee outside the theater, so if you plan on going, I would call to confirm the date and time first: 201-836-3210 (during theater hours).

And they are currently showing the 1977 film, Killer of Sheep.

Then, from November 2 - 4, they will be hosting The 2007 Teaneck International Film Festival. It includes screenings of Deepa Mehta's Water, Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries, and a number of other films from around the world. The series kicks off on Friday, November 2nd with a Q&A with writer/director John Sayles followed by a screening of his latest film Honeydripper.

Also, beginning Friday, October 19th, The Rialto Theater in Ridgefield Park will be showing the new Ang Lee film, Lust, Caution.

    movie recommendation
Saturday night we saw a preview screening of Arranged which I strongly recommend.

There's a good synopsis of it on IMDB.

It's scheduled to be screened for two weeks starting December 6 at the Quad Cinema on 13th St and 6th Ave in Manhattan. I'm guessing that in about a year it will be on either IFC or the Sundance Channel.
