Howdy
Hello all, I'm mostly just posting to introduce myself. I'm not new to the Beast Wars fandom, as I was really into it (fanfics, message boards, etc.) back in it's prime (ha, get it? "prime") but have been kinda in lurkdom for the past five years. Anyways, hello. ^__^ I'm Stacey, Beast Wars enthusiast and Beast Machines $#$^%&@##$**$%@. . . Well if you can't say something nice why say anything? Back in the day I had like 40ish atrocious fics up on the net, but thankfully most were swallowed by the ravages of time aside from a few embarassing reminders of how much I used to suck at writing up on Ivyna J. Spyder's web page *shudders* But I'm working on a new fic (one that sucks significantly less) and fanart.

For now, I only have this color bar I made to offer. It's and ode to the relationship (whatever you may view it to be: love-hate, enemies, comrades, friends, lovers) between Rattrap and Dinobot. They are my favorites and basically the reason I like the show in the first place. -^^-

Oh jeeze, you're one of THOSE people...

Look, no offence, I’m sure you're nice and all. But people with crazy "lets write 10,000 poorly written fanfics about gay love between transformers using misunderstood clues that and a 2 year old can understand correctly" mind sets don't do much to advance this fandom. They hurt it. They keep the people with the money and the power away and keep this an child's line confined to the internet. Do you know how many big Hollywood names were looking at Transformers before people went off the hook and threatened to kill Skir? I do. Think the names on the new movie. Now think that as a TV show 7 years ago. And people who can't see past their own red haze kept that from happening. People like you, who hate Beast Machines for no reason other then to hate it, and to write about Rattrap/Dinobot slash for no other reason then to write it.

Welcome to the fandom. *rolleyes*

Um, wow, okay. 0_o

A. Not new to the fandom at all, 6 years in it and running (nearly 10 if you count the fact that I watched BW when it first came out, a few years before I got involved in the net fandom). Thank you. =)I wrote my straight fics, my gen fics, even crappy OC fics like everyone else.

B. Slash fiction is no more stupid than OC fiction. I don't write it "just because I can" and I don't put characters names in a hat and randomly draw two out to write gay smut for the hell of it.

I liked the idea of Rattrap and Dinobot together in a way more than friends before I even knew what slash was. Honestly.

C. I don't have anything against Bob Skir or others liking Beast Machines, but I don't like it because I felt that the plot became boring beyond reason and Rattrap's character change seemed unjustified to me, unlike Cheetors and Silverbolt's which I felt were prety well done. If other people want to watch it, more power to them.

D. As for big Hollywood and money and what not, I sincerely don't have a clue as to what the heck you are talking about. I bought the toys and the DVDs, I sat through Beast Machines without giving any death threats, I don't know what more you expect of a person.

Some people like slash. So okay, you don't. No one expects anyone to like everything, everyone has their thing. If someone enjoys slash, they are not hurting the fandom. If that were true, do you have any idea how many anime fandoms, Harry Potter, LotR, etc. wouldn't be so popular? Because compared to them, there's not very much slash in the BW fandom. Heck, there's hardly any smut when compared to other fandoms. People write slash just because they can? How is that different from hetero fanfiction? I've seen tons of DinobotxOriginalCharacter fanfiction. How is that any different? Oh right, it's not TEH GHEYZ!11

And I don't like Beast Machines either. Is there some unwritten rule stating I have to like it because I liked Beast Wars? Like I said, not everyone likes everything. People have different tastes. I don't like BM because of my own reasons. No, I didn't go around sending death threats to Bob Skir (though I probably made fun of him in one of my fics, but then again I make fun of all the BW characters in my fics as well), heck I didn't even troll his forum! Frankly I could care less about the man. And I could care less about BM. Yes, I watched it. It was okay as something stand-alone. But I'll never accept it as canon in my mind. BW stopped somewhere in the middle of season 3 for me. You liked BM? Good for you! And I don't mean that sarcastically. I'm sure there's a lot of things that I like that you don't. That's the way things are, I don't care who likes/dislikes what. I like what I like, and that's all that matters.

I'm sorry if I sound very ranty and pissy in my response. It's nothing personal, I'm just in a bad mood. However, it doesn't change the fact that you were rude to the poor girl when she didn't deserve it. Let her like what she and others like what they like, because in the end, how does it really effect you?

Personally, I doubt that any of the Cybertronians would give a crap about gay or lesbian relationships, because they aren't humans and don't necesarily have the human society stigmas about such things. I mean, they don't reproduce sexually (at least not in the way that humans do, if they do at all), so it's not a matter of "natural vs. unnatural". And with a far higher ratio of males than females, yet with the full capacity for romantic love (Tigatron and Airazor, Silverbolt and Blackarachnia) wouldn't it just make sense that some male bots would seek one another out for un-platonic relationships?

No where in the Beast Wars show did I see anything resembling any sort of homophobic actions. For Christ's sake, Rattrap kisses both Silverbolt and Rhinox on the cheek at one point or another, then later Rhinox on the mouth! (Hmm, maybe I should be an RxR shipper instead) So I really doubt that the transformers care one way or another who likes who in a romantic sense. Sure they might prefer a femmebot, but I don't think that they'd be 100% exclusive.

And Dark Glass isn't RxD evidence enough by itself? I bet they cut it for it's gay overtones! Nyahahahaaaa! Kidding. Really.

But that's just my opinion on that matter. ^^;;

And word to everything you said. Did you know that in the Japanese version of Beast Wars, there was apparently a lot of DxR hints thrown in? I want to watch it now, or at least find scripts (there used to be some existing, but the site is gone now) just to see what they said. Heh. ^^

And I would have loved to see Dark Glass done, but I guess that's never gonna happen. :(

Nono, you didn't. And I too appologize if I severly wounded anyone. I just have my opinions. The fact that there really ISN'T any smut in this fandom to speak of is a reason I'm still here. And why I don't like anime and the sequential fandoms.

However, it is still my opinion that Stuff like that only serves to bring Transformers (or anything) and keep it down. You don't see geeks getting together saying "Oh man, did you see that great gay Dinobot/Rattrap love scene? It was so cool!" Infact, it is (mostly) outright avoided. My point being that if can't be said in front of God and everybody, then it probably doesn't need to be said. That's all.

Wow, you should meet the people that I hang around with, because stuff like that is the norm.

While I understand and respect that you have your values, understand that not everyone has the same ones as you. I'm assuming homosexuality and such isn't highly accepted where you are, but it is where I'm from. It's just different mentalities I guess. Basically, just avoid it if you don't like it. That's what I do for things I don't like. That way there's no hard feelings. Let the slash and smut people have our little corner of the fandom, and we'll stay out of each other's way. :D

And I read a fanfic by a Male about Vicent and Cid from Final Fantasy 7 and it was eye poppingly graphic!

Yeah, I read a really good Weiss Kreuz yaoi fanfiction written by a guy, and it was so well done.

Also, to get more attention, you should make a new post to the comm, this post is relatively old and no one will catch your comment. I only did because I have comments emailed to me since you replied to mine.

Welcome! ^^ It's good to see another person from the good old days. I used to hang out on the Beast Wars Anonymous forum myself, and had quite a few of my old fics up on there, which I'm also pretty embarassed of. I think I've matured a lot between being 16 when I wrote them and being 21 now. Unfortunately they're still up on FF.net and I think Lady Dementia's site and probably a few others. I haven't written much in the past few years, though I'm considering getting back into writing BW fics. I've always enjoyed writing that fandom more than others. I'm still friends with a lot of the old BW authors too. Come to think of it, I think I recognize your name, or at least remember someone with the same name. Did you hang out on the BWA forum at all? (which I sadly enough still have the link to...)

Heh, DinobotxRattrap amuses me. :D While I usually prefer DinobotxOC, I can see how DxR would work. ^^ Now I'm quite curious about your fics...

Hello. ^_^ I wasn't on the BWA boards, I don't think, because the BWA archives stopped taking submissions shortly after I got into the fandom, that's when Talon's archive (which no longer exists) took over, and I posted there. *ashamed to admit this* I wrote under the name brat_bot but I often just went by my real name (Stacey) and my blatant Mary Sue for like 30 of my fanfics (which all sucked! Though I did manage to mix up the gay with the straight, even at the tender age of 13 XD) was named Stacey too, so it might sound familiar for that reason.

Naw, I ramble too. Rambling is a sign of genius! Kidding.

But I can understand prefering Dinobot x OC, but personally I'm so sick of Mary Sue's (even my own, eww. That was pathetic of me) that it's hard to weed out the good from the bad. I like Dinobot and Rattrap because I'm not straight myself and not a big fan of reading about "teh hetro" ;)

My fics, well I'm mostly done with one, halfway on another. I'll make sure to post a link here when I'm done. =)

And dude, off topic, but nice interests list. =D We share so many of the same loves, you obviously have good taste my friend.

What name did you write under, I may have read something of yours at some point or another. =)

Yes, your penname sounds very familiar. :D Can't remember if I read your fics, but I recognize the name. And don't be ashamed, my own fics were pretty Mary Sue-ish and teenybopper-ish... *shudders* The only ones I'm still proud of are my comedies. My old penname is Moon Kitty. Like I said, I still have stuff floating around out there. -_-

I guess a lot of DxOC didn't seem so bad back then. ^^;; I haven't gone back to read BW fics in a very long time. Though there's a few I would like to reread sometime. Especially Taratron's series, I remember enjoying that one a lot. Heh, I'm a fan of both hetero and slash, so it's all good. ^^
