kitty needs new home

Hey all...

I am looking to re-home my little cat. She's one year old and very small for a kitty. She has a very sweet disposition, is friendly with other animals, and is indoors only. I don't have recent pictures available online, just kitten photos.

Please, if you or someone you know needs a new addition to the family, please let me know. I want to avoid shelters at all costs - I'm worried she would not be considered adoptable because she's no longer a kitten.

Barking Solutions?

My dog and I have to stay with family 2 days a week, and my dog has to stay outside most of the time. So, she barks pretty constantly, which is a problem.

Does anyone know of something that will keep her from barking? collars? etc. I have never really had to use anything before, and I don't want to waste my money on something that won't work.

Vet Advice...

Ok, so today I took my Margaux to McNeil Crossing Animal Clinic for the second time. Both times, she was in need of booster shots and whatnot, and both times he took her back to the very back room to do this, leaving me in the regular check-up room. I'm just wondering if this is normal? I don't know if I'm just used to country vets, but I've never taken a dog to the vet and had to stay in another room while she was being vaccinated or something. They always did it right in front of me.

I just feel uneasy with her in another room. I mean, I don't know what they're doing to her, or if I'm even getting what I'm paying for. Should I look for another vet, or am I over-thinking this?

Our foster dog Matilda will be featured tomorrow on KVUE's "Pet of the Week" segment on Sunday AM (early, not sure of the time..). Since we had her for not quite 2 months, we're a bit biased, but I had to take the opportunity to let evertyone know- if you're looking for a sweet, well-mannered dog that's good w/other animals and kids, Matilda is your girl- she's housebroken, crate trained, and knows some basic obedience commands- sit, wait, and stay (but needs reinforcement). She is about a year old, should weigh around 50 lbs (she's a bit thin still from motherhood) and is thought to be a lab/border collie cross. She is extremely affectionate and loves to sit with her head in your lap and get loved. She also does not get on furniture, so her previous owners apparently trained her to stay off the furniture. Matilda would LOVE a forever home of her very own- her pups are all adopted (except for Gidget and Janie), and now its Mattie's turn- do you have room in your heart for this sweet girl?

Matilda was brought to the Williamson County Humane Society bone thin and burstingly pregnant. My husband and I took her home to foster her until the pups were born and weaned. Two weeks after bringing her home, Mattie had 9 apparently healthy puppies; 5 males and 4 females. At 5 weeks, one of the males did die, probably due to her poor nutrition during pregnancy. She was an excellent mommie, very protective of her pups, and they grew like weeds! They were weaned at 6 weeks, and at 8 weeks returned to the shelter. All have been adopted except for the smallest pup (Gidget) and the biggest one (Janie).

If you'd like to see the pictures taken of Matilda's pups during their foster, they are here.

Charlotte needs your help

Today at the Humane Society of Williamson County, a woman dropped off a "lost dog." Lost, but she (the woman leaving her) knew its name, that the dog was mostly indoors, housebroken, and good w/kids. Oh, and pregnant. Charlotte is a Blue Heeler with an uncut tail; if anyone knows contacts with heeler rescue, do let me know- pregnant dogs do not live very long in kill shelters, so Charlotte needs a foster home ASAP.

Help, please?

If you or anyone you know would like a puppy, have adequate space, and love to give this little guy...please contact my mother! There is no adoption fee.

My mother sent me pictures a bio. Hehe.

Please help Chako..

Chako is a 1 year old male Pit Bull mix at the Williamson County Humane Society. They need space. Chako's time is limited. He is a friendly, very loving, playful, wannabe-lapdog that does not seem to be dog aggressive. I want to take him, but we have 3 dogs and 4 cats already.

Chako is a faded grey brindle and white with beautiful grey eyes. Can you save Chako? Please?

Edit: Too late. As of this morning, Chako is "no longer available."
*Sigh*

New Rescue :)

posted by: [info]toolstriss in [info]austinpets

So we got a new miniature schnauzer from the Westie Rescue group in Round Rock. He's adjusting okay so far, but he has some sleeping issues. I'm not used to my old dog (the white one in the picture) jumping on the bed so I usually just help her up whenever we're ready to have her on the bed, but RayRay (new black one) can jump, so he gets on the bed whenever he pleases and I think he's asserting a bit too much authority. How do you keep dogs off your bed? :/ We live in a townhouse with a loft for the bedroom, so there are no doors to keep the dogs downstairs.

Anyway, here they are! Penguin (left) and RayRay (right).

Do rabbits and dogs get along?

I really want to get a rabbit, but only if my dog will get along with him/her. :)

PS - Where would one get a rabbit in Austin?

(haha.. I just posted this in the austincommunity by accident. i'd probably get my ass handed to me there for asking this kind of thing. i'm glad this community exists!)

I've been without a dog for a few years now. Lately I've really been looking. I finally found the perfect little girl! I just picked her up at the shelter today. She's a 4 month old Border Collie/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix.

I haven't named her yet.
