I'd like to explain my answers, and answer the last two in this comment.

I am currently an undergrad majoring in Asian Studies, with a possible minor or double minor in history/music/art/or whatever I decide to focus on with Asian Studies.

At this point in time I have taken Japanese levels 101-202 (I am not sure how that transfers over to Japanese schooling, but I assume it is equivalent to grade school levels), and will take 301 and 302 next year if my university offers it. I also plan to study in Japan my senior year. We have not learned any specific dialects, and I am unaware of my proficiency because I have not taken any of the JLPTs. Despite this, I would rank myself as intermediate. I'm not really sure how to explain the way my school teaches Japanese, but I do know that each semester is more content-heavy than that of most other schools.

If you noted "Others", feel free to comment and let us know what was left out!

Also, "Southeat Asia" should obviously read "Southeast Asia". Woops.

How about adding a question asking where we are all currently located? I'm curious to see how many of us are in Asia right now.

Hey, fancy running into you here.

Comment on the poll -- shouldn't the "area of interest" choices be more like

Japan
China
Taiwan Province, PRC
Korea
Indonesia
India / Subcontinent
Southeat Asia
Central Asia
Other

No, I'm just being a troll.

Anyway, I answered "other" in cases where the options I picked were basically true, but left a lot out of the story; that is, I'll be graduating this summer with only about 2 years of college under my belt, having spent 2 years abroad in China.
I picked "other" for major because "Asian Studies" is actually kind of a default major, since my university doesn't offer a major in Chinese. I'm studying China, and don't actually give much of a crap about the field of Asian Studies. Then again, I may just be bitter about my courseload this semester.

My college is similar; the only major we have pertaining to anything Asian is Asian Studies. It's surprising since 99% of the people in the program are in it just for interest in Japanese or Chinese something-or-other. We don't have any classes about Korea or India, much less any other Asian countries.
