( Read more... )

Morpheus 10x10" Acrylic on Canvas
This painting was requested by Katie. She did a version a few weeks back and wanted me to do one as well. Here is Katie's...
Now Katie isn't the only one I am taking requests from for the 99 Cats and a Bird Series. I have only completed 18 paintings (yes, I am behind on getting them posted), and I am running out of idea. In the meantime to help support me while I spend all my time working on this project you can purchase prints and gift items featuring this image.

| Edison - What a Shocker! |
[19 Jul 2008|03:14pm] |
10x10" Acrylic on Canvas By Request
This little fellow has a bad habit of chewing on wires. Due to his shocking curiosity he was named Edison. We are hoping that he is trying to invent something like a personal shock therapy device and not just trying to get himself killed or practicing for industrial espionage.
Please visit www.99CatsAndABird.com to see more of the paintings in this series. All paintings in this series are being done to raise money for the East Lake Pet Orphanage.

Emerson 10x10" Mixed Media on Canvas
You all know that scene. The kitty seems to want to sit on the book. He can't imagine why you are getting so worked up about the whole thing, and by the way since you are there, why are you petting him?
The orginal will of course be available for auction at the East Lake Pet Orphanage sometime in Febuary. Details coming soon. But in the meantime you can find gift items featuring Emerson at Cafepress.

| Cuthulhu Ink Drawing! |
[06 Jun 2008|10:43am] |
I know, after all the cuteness, this is a bit different. But I couldn't help it. The males in the household were having a marathon of Calls 4 Cuthulhu episodes and it all just kinda got stuck in my head. I actually did this shortly before my computer crashed. I was going through some things when I came accross this and realized that I had not shared this particular obsession that James has infected my darling baby boy with. But in honor of the boys in the home we have Cuthulhu.
Okay, and yes, I admit it, I like the the show too. Makes me actually considering reading the books once the Topamax stops messing with my brain enough to let me read a good book again. And of course you can find some fun gift items reaturing this drawing on cafepress.

| Kritter Girl |
[16 May 2008|05:15am] |
I have stayed up all night working on this painting. Then I made a color photocopy and put it in my daughter's lunch. Why?
Because of a bully at school and a clueless teacher. Still annoyed at the teacher for punishing my daughter for telling on the bully, but that is another story.
Katie loves reptiles. Okay, she likes bugs, amphibians, dogs and every other critter out there too, but reptiles are her favorite. Lizards of course are the best. Because of this obsession (which I admit to encouraging), one little girl has taken to making fun of Katie and calling her "critter girl" like it was a bad thing. I think Katie should be proud of being who she is. So we now have "Kritter Girl". Note the spelling with the "K" for Katie.
Kritter Girl is going to grow up to be a biologist or a zoologist or a vet. She is going to save animals in her community or world wide. She might even find a way to save some endangered species from global warming. But she can't do that if, she isn't allowed to be proud of her love and interest in critters and how they work.
So Yeah Kritter Girl! You Go Girl! You Rock and are my favorite super hero of all time, cause brains will always win out over bullies.

| Homage to Mucha |
[01 Apr 2008|12:05am] |
Well this week's illustration Friday's theme is Homage. So I did an Homage to Mucha. I love his illustrations and it fit right in with my fascination with mandalas. Not sure what to call the drawing. Although, I am thinking that it will be a painting before I am done. It is just calling out for some watercolor.

8x10" pen and ink
And of course reproductions can be found at cafepress.

| Intro |
[01 Mar 2008|04:28pm] |
1. Why did you join this community?
I enjoy seeing what other artists are creating and it keeps me thinking creatively and a for a chance to share what I am working on as well.
2. When did you start drawing, writing lyrics, doing computer graphics, designing clothing, painting, sculpting, photographing?
I have been drawing and painting all my life. My grandmother was a painter and she would keep me supplied with art stuff to keep me out of her hair while she did her own thing during the summer. I got my degree in art 10 years ago, but didn't start trying to make money at it until 7 years ago.
3. Do you plan to do anything envolving any of these things in the future? Yes 4. If so what? I currently hawk my wares at juried art festivals, my website and various Print on Demand sites and am starting to look into developing a web comic (crossing fingers) and trying the art shows at sci-fi conventions 5. How did you hear about this community? Just checking out the groups that other artists, whose work I liked, were members of. I can't remember who. 6. Post one place where you've promoted. http://www.bemusedart.com/blog 7. Post at least one drawing, lyrics, computer graphic, clothing design, painting, sculpture, photograph
Although this is still a work in progress. I have some shading to do, but stippling takes a very long time.
