To get back to the tradition of voting for Convergence location in the Spring so that the successful organizers have at least 12 months lead time, this is the planned timetable for C16 bid selection. Suggestions for my Impending Death at C15 While I do appreciate the way that C15 Omaha was embraced by the Convergence voting public [1] I am kinda disturbed by the calls for my death at Long Beach. Just to remind those of you who got caught up in the hype, my execution was added to the Omaha bid when ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) the_siobhan realized that the bid was turning serious and if by some miracle it won that she would be involved in putting together a party 1000 miles away from home. That's why she promised to kill me and I, naturally, had to add it to the Omaha bid. Now that you voted for Convergence on a Ship, A Fucking Ship Mind You she know longer has a reason to kill me, so now if you want to kill me you'll have to get through her... [C15 Vote] Convergence XV vote results The Convergence XV has concluded, and the winner is Long Beach, CA with a clear majority. Thank you to everyone involved. Seattle, I hope you continue to attend Convergence and come back with an even stronger bid another year. Omaha, I hope you don't. Nothing personal. Long Beach, my congratulations AND my condolences. Voting Glitch? I just tried to vote for C15, and it gave me this error message: Vote correct, but not updated. Most likely, you've voted for this Convergence already. I hadn't already voted, so...? [Edit: fross and etcet say it's known and in work.] Also, for them what cares, I added all my past Convergence photo sites to the Wiki page. The reason I love Convergence I didn't mean to wait so long to post my thanks. As the real world, my own and the larger one, flood back in and demand attention, the things I enjoy fade to the back. Convergence was a great respite, When I'm at Convergence I am better. More ME. More open, more spontaneous, more relaxed, funnier, happier. I can't tell you how freeing that is. To open up and breathe deeply into my soul, to experience the creative, clever and varied people. One of the reasons I love Keith is that I am a better person because of him. I love Convergence, the committes, and attendees because you expand me, improve me, make me happier. Deepest thanks to Bob, Rafe, Kim, Spud and everyone on the committee. I wish you didn't have to be so busy and could enjoy more of what you created. I hope to see you again soon. C15 Long Beach Proposal update - you asked, we have answers! Since the committees have been given the opportunity to clarify portions of our proposals before voting begins, the C15 Long Beach Proposal Triad has added a FAQ to our website, which you can visit here: http://www.altgothic.com/c15longbeachOr you can just scroll down, because we're posting the FAQ here as well. :) We haven't changed a thing about our bid -- we like it the way it is and hope you do too. The FAQ clarifies points that you all brought up, either on alt.gothic or in person at C14, including hotel rooms, where to park, seasickness, the permanence of moorings, how we can get away with boozin' on the beach, and the so-called, much-discussed "cap." More Pictures, More Kudos...late, I know Hi everyone, I just wanted to add to all the comments about how great C-14 was. I've been to three other C-*s and this one definitely had the most inclusive feel to it. I commented to etcet one night that it really had a "Goth Cruise" feel to it. To me, that was a high compliment, as all 4 of the cruises were very inclusive and the people were very friendly. Thanks Rafe, Bob, et al. for putting together a great event. I hope that we can afford to go to the next one wherever that may be. Maybe I'll see some of you at DragonCon this weekend? Here are the pics. We were pretty lame with the picture taking this time around. Also, we host these from our home and we've been having connection problems lately, so if it is slow, check back at another time. I want to take a minute from the C14 EPIC (Sorry Carrie) afterglow to bitch for a second and warn you guys.
I don't know if any of you flew AirTran, to get to Tampa, but I'd like to warn everyone about their customer service. When I was checking in in Tampa I was left to stand there for 20 minutes and then got the rudest customer service I have ever received from an airline. I had to pay $99 to bring 2 extra suitcases on the plane, and got a lot of attitude from the people at the counter. My flight (like a lot of ours) was delayed from weather, and I had to change my connecting flight. My suitcases never made it home that night, and showed up the next day.
I just got off the phone with AirTran's #1 rated customer service department, who really didn't care, took 10 minutes on hold to file a complaint, and then offered me $25 off my next flight. Refused to transfer me to anyone else because I was talking to a supervisor already, refused to refund me the cost of having my bags not got on my plane, and refused to offer me anything other than that $25.
So I promised them that I would tell everyone I know to never fly them again. And here I am, doing just that. I have never received such bad customer service before, anywhere.

Convergence Thoughts... Someone @ C14 asked me what it was like to see PFM @ Convergence. I said I would post the video when I get home. So here it is! Convergence is about being somewhere "with all our friends right here beside us." It's moments like these where the cruel and brutal world disappears, leaving you surrounded by beauty, community and humanity. In these moments you don't have to justify yourself, you don't have to say *anything*. People just "get it", people just understand. [1] As I read the deluge of posts gushing about Convergence, it so wonderful to see that even after 14 years, Convergence still fulfills its purpose to bring all these wonderful, dark souls together for a weekend of merriment and camaraderie. I realized last Weekend, So long as there are people who have this urgency to meet the people whom they've conversed with though these optic fibers, this desire to meet the people behind the pixels there will always be Convergence. Hi As time goes on and memories fade, whenever I'm down or feeling crappy about myself, I'm going to come back to your posts about C14 to remind myself that for one three-day weekend, I helped make some friends happy. Pictures Like everyone else has said, I had a fabulous time at C14. Thanks so much to everyone who made it happen. Finally got pictures up, click on the pic to be taken to the flickr set. The fashion show. Unfortunately I didn't get my camera working properly until halfway through Kambriel's performance.
