Title: Intellectual Puzzle
Prompt: #7 - Water
Rating: G
Characters: Artemis, Juliet
Points to: The Unofficial Jade Princess Fan Club
Words: 100

Artemis lifted his fingers from the keyboard as Juliet laid the cup of tea on his desk. He looked up at her, smiling a smile that actually reached his eyes. "I've cracked it." Juliet knew this was the Artemis equivalent of jumping up and down, screaming.

"You weren't still working on that? But you know I don't like you being involved in that sort of business."

He glanced at the band of gold on her left hand. Aurum potestas est. The fire died in his eyes and he deflated a little.

"It was merely an intellectual puzzle. Don't worry yourself."

Title: Formality
Prompt: #7 - Water
Rating: G
Characters: Artemis, Timmy, Angeline, Butler, Juliet
Points to: The Unofficial Jade Princess Fan Club
Words: 100

Quite suddenly, one evening six-year-old Artemis declared, "I'm going to marry Juliet."

Fowl Senior, hidden behind the financial pages, twitched the newspaper to peer over the top. He caught his wife's gaze and vanished again.

Angeline spoke hurriedly. "She's a hired hand now, Arty dear. It wouldn't be proper for you to marry her." She glanced at Butler, reading in the corner. Her words had been cold but her expression told a story that no six-year-old, not even Artemis, could understand.

"Then I shan't marry anyone," said little Artemis. Angeline gave him a sad smile and turned away.

And if it wasn't clear from the drabbles, I used water in the sense of "pouring water on" something, i.e. extinguishing it. I actually wrote the second one first, but didn't think it made the use of the prompt clear enough, so I did another. Hurrah for random interpretations!

Sorry, my dearling, for taking so long to respond to these. I read them when you posted, but, well, examination thingies, you know. *dies of non-work* Well, at least I've realised how much I dislike having to rote learn anything, how nausiating syllabii are, and how pointless english examinations are (let us talk about two movies and two novels in a significant way in 50 minutes?).

I quite like the way you've used the concept of water in both of them. Much better than the traditional, immediate responses Tyr and I gave. Shows how different people look at the same stimulus, doesn't it?

I *really* like the first one. First time I read it I was obviously glossing over it and I didn't *get* it. Like, gold, pretty, nice, finish, why? Now, however, it is wonderful. I really like the non-nagging married nature of it all. Ah, the power! *grin* Go Juliet!

The second one was fun. Will has a crush on our neighbour, 5-yr-old Bianca. The sun rises and sets in her eyes. He was *horrified* when she farted the other week, it was an extreme case of 'but, what? She's Bianca, she doesn't fart. She's perfect. This doesn't fit into my view of the universe!' So, yes, cute as anything.

Nice drabbles, deary.

...How the heck are you meant to discuss two movies and two novels in 50 minutes? I only had to do two essays in two hours! o_O;

I did initially think of all of the physical and metaphorical ways I could use water, and I did plan to do a few based on those, but then I started on all the sayings we have which involve water and so wrote these two and forgot to do the others! ^^;

Aww, poor Will, his little world has been shattered by a fart. *pats him gently*

Thankies. :)

Oh, that was in an essay about Crime Fiction. We had to use two set texts (Big Sleep and Anil's Ghost, which are incredibly complex and influencial and completely not crime fiction) and at least two other texts of our own choosing, which for me was the Cowboy Bebop movie, and Feet of Clay. So, all of those in 50 mins. For our regular English exams, however, we have 3 essays/feature articles/speeches about King lear, Emma and Clueless, Frontline + two texts, in 2 hours.

Poor Will. He's almost recovered now. He still adores Bianca - it's the cutest ghing you've ever seen.

Haha, trust you to get PTerry in there somewhere. ;P

Even so, that's still six texts in two hours. Mine had a maximum of three texts per exam. o_O;

Is he coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories about how it was actually a whoopee cushions, etc.? *grin*

Yeap, there are some things I can be relied upon to do, aren't there?

Yeah, we've got Many Many Texts of Evilness. The English course in NSW is either exceptionally good, or stupidly difficult. My English Teacher of Intimidating Greatness once said that she's never marked a single Ext English exam which examined genre effectively/to the extent it can be done.

Nope, he's a bit young for conspiracy theories - as close as he gets is conspiring to drink coke (aka. 'yucky bubbly drinks'). He brought some for his dog (Billy, who he also took to the vet in a cat cage; he's a plushy) and now is using it for cleaning coins because Heidi won't let him drink it.

I only had to study six texts for the whole of A2. o.O;; And within the structure of the course, you can definitely examine the texts to the maximum extent expected. (Which surprises me, because I always wondered how on earth you could be given 100% for an English essay.) Your course is mad.

LOL, aww. :D What did the vet think of Billy coming to see him?

Me and my simplemindedness... I was reading both and expecting torrents of H2O, and was confuzzled when nobody drowned or died from microbe contamination. :P Your interpretations are very nice. The first drabble is particularly squeeable. An almost perfect illustration of the possible married relationship between Artemis and Juliet, IMO. :*

LOL, yeah, that's why I thought I had to explain it or people would be like, "wth? where's the water?" ^^; It was not exactly the most straightforward interpretation.

Thank you. :) What's weird is that normally I don't imagine Artemis and Juliet to be at all like that! XD;
