Batch 2006 Yearbook Update (release date!)

DATE : August 4, 2008
TO : The Ateneo Class of 2006
FROM : The 2006 Ateneo Aegis Editorial Board
RE : Release of the Aegis 2006 Yearbook

This is to update all regarding the status of the 2006 Ateneo Aegis Yearbook
production.

The final soft copy of the yearbook has been handed over to the printers (Cover &
Pages) earlier this year. The final proofing stage has been completed last July, and
the printers are currently in the process of setting the plates for final printing.
With this, we are pleased to announce that the expected date of release of the Aegis
2006 Yearbook is on 17 November 2008. The exact date, venue, and procedures for
claiming the 2006 Ateneo Aegis Yearbook will be communicated closer to the
release date.

Thank you for your support and understanding of the delay in the yearbook
production and release. This is also to extend our sincerest apologies to those
whose requirements were misplaced in the process.
Rest assured that the group remains committed to the effort of releasing the
yearbook at the earliest possible date, without compromising its quality and
completeness.

Best regards,
The 2006 Ateneo Aegis

please adopt my kitty! :(

Hi! My boyfriend and I picked up an adorable 2-month-old kitten two weeks ago by the side of a road in the UP Diliman campus.  I thought I could keep him at the condo, but my brother's allergic so I have to find another home for him (the kitten, not my brother :).

The kitten is white all over except for beige ears and tail.  Sorry I don't have any pics of him; I don't have a digicam.  But I promise he's very cute and healthy, with clear gray-green eyes.  We've taken him to the vet and he's fine. :)  He's also very sociable and doesn't have any problems with humans (he might be a little shy around strangers the first time, though, naturally).  He's already learned to use the litterbox.

He's also very quiet and only meows when he's really hungry, so he'll be fine even if, for example, his owners leave him home alone all day, as long as there's enough food left out for him and his litterbox is kept free of poop.  (He only goes about once a day.)

So if anyone would like to adopt a very friendly, clean, and frisky kitten, please do comment on this post or e-mail me at la(underscore)puente at yahoo dot com.  Adoption will include litterbox and whatever cat food I might still have at the time. :D  Thanks so much!

What do you need to bring with you to a voting station?  Yourself and a mental list of the candidates you want to vote for, after you've taken the time to get to know them and their platforms.  You should bring a pen and your Ateneo ID!  An official list of candidates will be provided at every voting station, but do come to the station already knowing for whom you will vote.

Isang Milyong Aklat, Isang Milyong Pangarap

Do you know that more than 2 Million Filipino Students can't Read?

* Yes, it's true that more than 20% of our public high school students cannot understand what they are reading.

* Yes, it's also true that in the High School Readiness Test (HRET) given by DepEd to 1st year high school students all over the Philippines, less than 2% was able to get a score of 75% or higher.

* And Yes it's true that many public schools all over the Philippines don't have adequate public school libraries and enough books for students to read.

But It's also True that we can do something about this Growing Problem....

The Acts of Hope for the Nation (AHON) Foundation (the corporate social arm of
Filway Marketing, Inc.) and K.I.D.S. Foundation (the foundation established by actor Diether Ocampo) together with Campaigns and Grey and Pizza Hut have joined forces to launch.....

Isang Milyong Aklat, Isang Milyong Pangarap

Isang Milyong Aklat, Isang Milyong Pangarap is a campaign to raise 1 million
books for our public schools all over the country. Through this campaign, we
hope to be able to help put more books into 300 public school libraries that
will benefit over 1 million students. We need YOU to make this happen!

If you would like to donate books (preferably reference materials, dictionaries,
storybooks, novels and science books) or Volunteer your time and skills to make
this happen, please send us an email at isangmilyongaklat@ gmail.com or call

For the freshmen :)

SEC A
CTC-SOM WALKWAY
CAFETERIA ATRIUM
COVERED COURTS
FAURA DRIVEWAY
MATTEO RICCI
RIZAL LIBRARY
KOSTKA EXTENSION

Also, watch out for the Running Mate, which is everyone's favorite election primer!  (Haha.)  Ateneo COMELEC officers will be dropping by your English and Lit classes during the week of the elections to distribute copies of the Running Mate and to speak for a few minutes on the importance of voting and the electoral process as well.  :)

What do you need to bring with you to a voting station?  Yourself and a mental list of the candidates you want to vote for, after you've taken the time to get to know them and their platforms.  You should bring a pen, maybe.  Oh, and your ID!  An official list of candidates will be provided at every voting station, so there's no need to bring the Running Mate with you when you vote--in fact, by the time you get to the voting station, you should already know for whom to vote.
