Tidus unlocked the door to his house. His dad wasn't home, but his mother was. He directed Sora away from the room where his mother stayed when she waited for Jecht to come home. The woman didn't do anything unless he was there with her. Jecht. Tidus felt a sting of hatred boil but it was erased when Sora tugged on his hand. He blushed and headed upstairs, where he kept all of his belongings. There was his PS2 sitting like a black doorway into nowhere next to the TV-screen, which almost always had some kind of screensaver on it. His clothes were on the walls, and posters of girls and Wakka and Tidus's photographs, and other group photos, pinned up on a corkboard.
Sora looked around. "Wow... you're room is so much more grown-up than mine... you have a fold-out couch and a futon..." He sat down on the futon and grinned up at him. "Comfy! I could stay in here all day."
"Well, you can't. It's my room, remember." Tidus grinned, and crouched near his TV, rummaging around his game cases. "What do you feel like, high speed chases? Grueling battles? Oh, I know! Strategy and skill!"
He was really just bailing out of doing anything such as talking. He didn't want to be with Tidus... when he was going to tear off his clothes. The thought made his skin crawl, even if it sounded fun. But he wanted him to break up with Riku. There was no way he was going to risk a good solid ass-whooping from Riku if this happened to go in a directon he didn't like.
But... was it possible that Riku already knew? Would Sora have blabbed to him about Tidus? Was Sora even interested? Or was he just way too friendly?
"Well?" he looked over his shoulder with a nervous chuckle. Only to see that Sora had tears coming out of his eyes, and he looked miserable. "Sora! What's the matter?" He climbed over his piles of stuff to reach him, and patted his arm. "Hey, why you crying?"
Sora's sobs came out in earnest now. He wiped at his face harshly, jerking his arm away when Tidus began to pull on it to give him a comforting, platonic hug. But Tidus refused to be put off, and finally managed to get Sora to hug him awkwardly. Tidus nuzzled him, crooning in a comforting way that he didn't do with just anyone. It just sounded right. Even thought he didn't get his answer, he just knew that Sora needed some kind of comfort.
The heady, island aroma of Sora was overwhelming at this close of a range. He folded his legs Indian style, pulling him closer. He felt the gentle pluck of the other's fingers as he held on tightly. His dark touch was gratifying only a little. Then Tidus detangled himself from him when Sora's sobs began to fade into faint hiccups and soft gasps.
"You okay now?" he asked, patting his back and rubbing it. He didn't want to know what brought on such a fit. Maybe it was something between him and Riku. Which made him suddenly *really* want to know if things were okay. "Riku didn't--"
"I didn't have a fight," he said, sniffling, taking Tidus's hands. He pulled on them, forcing Tidus to come close to him again, his cheekbones crimson. "I was just thinking... how unfair it is."
Tidus couldn't find anything to say.
Sora brushed his hair from his face and smiled shyly. He felt like Riku all over again... with the exception that he had a feeling Tidus wouldn't say anything, maybe hit him and tell him what a slut he was. He took a deep breath, shy smile melting away and leaving his face feeling tired, like the rest of him.
Then Tidus leaned closer to him and kissed him on the mouth. He wasn't about to let Sora get away with all his flirting without recieving his due payment, having worked so hard to get it. The little brunette's body melted underneath his hands and fell closer to him, their tongues working their way into each other's mouths. Tidus felt time stop for awhile; Sora's breathing was not calm, but the rest of him spoke volumes of experience. They didn't do anything yet, oh no, but spent the remainder of the hour kissing each other and touching their clothes and wishing they could do more. Then it was time for Sora to leave.
Tidus watched him walk down the street in the darkness with an itching, burning desire to call out to him, 'Don't go!'. He was rooted to the spot in his doorway, until he was suddenly shoved aside as his mother hurried out and embraced Jecht as he came up the steps. He staggered backwards into the kitchen, cursed at them under his breath before wandering back upstairs to his bed, where he laid down, alone.
Was Riku waiting for him in his bedroom or Sora's? What did they look like, sleeping next to each other? These thoughts tormented Tidus into a troubled sleep. He tossed and turned, thought he felt Sora climbing into his bed through his window, but it was just his dream. His body ached. His eyes burned. He wondered for awhile if he was in some sort of love with Sora.
Love like... like how he imagined it would be - crisp and perfect, like a chilly morning and mist on the sea.
He deeply craved that these dreams would end and he could sleep again at night.

I think I did that right. Ugh. I'm never writing this fanfic in Notepad again. Bastard.
