SCORCH BLEACH
Yes, it's me again. I noticed the brand of bleach Trevor uses is 'Scorch'. Usually the word scorch denotes heat or burning, and I thought it was a strange name for a household cleaner. Then I ran it through an online thesaurus, and I got several alternate and interesting shades of meaning--all of which point to Trevor's feelings about himself, conscious and subconscious. I just stumbled across this comm and thought I'd join because I just saw the movie last week. There were a few things I had questions/things to point out but now I can't seem to think of all of them. So now I feel like an idiot.

But, I was wondering if anyone knew why all the bleach? I know that after a long exposure to the fumes messes with your respiratory and in some cases has caused halucination.

Bleach
Am wondering - can smelling too much bleach make you hallucinate? *g* I mean, let's face it, the man went through a LOT of bleach. I was watching this movie for the umpteenth time the other day and was watching Trevor as he's on his knees with that toothbrush, nose right to the floor, scrubbing away, and I thought, 'Can you imagine what this man's apartment smells like?' Bleach! No wonder he never brought anyone to his apartment. Smelling that constantly would make me dizzy, so I wonder if that had any effect on Trevor's brain.

bleached
Since [info]spacequeen brought up the hand-washing, I'll bring up the bleach. There's a theme throughout the film of things being bleached, made white, washed clean.
