The 2007 I Saw Three Ships stories have been posted. Interesting statistics may or may not follow tomorrow.

I've just sent an e-mail to everyone asking them to check and make sure I didn't do anything weird to their formatting. If at all possible, get back to me about it today, because stories are going live tomorrow.

Please be aware that your name and possibly the story notes won't show up, because of the anonymity.

Also, if the person for whom you wrote a story never turned in a story, the story is addressed to Keine.

Last but not least, thanks to everyone who participated, and especially to the pinch hitters and the people who searched out the template and used it.

Each comment thread is feedback for a specific story.

I'm terribly sorry not to have made this announcement earlier, I took a sleeping pill last night and I'm still feeling all sorts of screwy.

I've received stories for all but four people.

I have sent an e-mail to the people who defaulted to let them know they defaulted and are now BANNED from I Saw Three Ships.

I have sent e-mails to the people I would like to do pinch hits. If you think you signed up to pinch hit, please check your e-mail and get back to me ASAP.

I have not actually looked at a single story as of this moment, as I'm considering going to bed. However, if I open the story attachment from you and it turns out I need you to resend, you will still count as having turned your story in on time. I hope that was clear.

Stories are due today at 11:59 p.m. EST (in approximately 5.5 hours.)

If you don't have your story in on time, you count as a defaulter. No back up story will be requested for you if your santa defaulted, and you are not allowed to participate in future I Saw Three Ships. If your santa did write a story for you, it will not have your name on it (although it will have your request.)

There are no extensions.

If you mail your story in late, it will go up on the archive and the story that was written for you will have your name on it.

Please mail your story in to zvi at slashx hyphen files dot com as a text file, no Microsoft Word files please!

This is just a reminder. There's one week to go until I Saw Three Ships stories are due. Please e-mail them me as a plain text attachment to zvi at slashx hyphen files dot com.

And please, for in order not to make me cry, turn off your curly quotes, em-dashes, and ellipses.

You may want to write a Dear Santa letter. This letter is designed to give your Santa a clearer idea of what sort of story would make you happy. It is not the place to say, "Actually, I only want a story in X fandom, I only put in Y fandom because of the rules," and it is not the place to give a detailed plot summary. Think more like a personals ad "Likes: first times, food porn, mpreg; dislikes: angst, epithets, a threesome isolated from the rest of the story universe (they should interact with other people in the course of the story). Horror stories and comedy make me happy, but not when you mix them together." You can get more advice from liviapenn or the fourthvine.

You may post the Dear Santa as a comment to this post. Alternatively, post it in your own livejournal and comment here with a link for your Santa.

Please e-mail me, private message me, or reply to this journal entry if there is a problem with what you were assigned.

Problem means:

1) None of your giftee's threesome requests are in a fandom that you said you could write. (Your giftee picking three characters you don't know or don't like is a reason for you to get more source material and get creative, not to get another assignment. If you really can't do it, you can drop out and go first on the pinch hitter list.)

2) You and your giftee only match on one fandom, your giftee requested an incest threesome you don't want to do, and they didn't make a second, non-incest request.

3) Your giftee's requested threesomes were not listed in your assignment e-mail.

4) You did not get an assignment e-mail at all, or your assignment came through in a format which your e-mail reader cannot decipher.

Good luck! Don't forget I'm going to ask for confirmation that you are on-track to finish a story around December 20, and stories are due at 11:59 p.m. EST on December 29.

I am working on getting the assignments out to everyone. I have finished with the spreadsheet and the checking and the matching, and now I just have to do the actual sending.

I like that people sometimes request and receive obscure fandom threesomes. It's really cool that there's an Errol Flynn movie threesome that was written for this challenge.

However, this is not Yuletide. ( I natter on for a bit, but to sum up: ) Please consider whether it's likely that out of forty other random fans from all over LJ, one of them is going to make a request for a minor or non-existent fandom that you're offering. If the answer is probably no, please leave it off your signup unless you are pimping people you know will request that minor fandom into signing up for Three Ships.

Um, yeah. So, I was late getting the signups up. But you can now officially register for I Saw Three Ships 2007.

Signups are still closing November 15 as originally announced.

Again, I apologize for announcing an opening date and then failing to meet it. Thank you to the people who prodded me about opening. You really helped me get off my ass.

There is one clarification from last year. ALL STORIES MUST FEATURE THREESOMES. When I say threesomes, I mean A is romantically/sexually involved with B is romantically/sexually involved with C is romantically/sexually involved with A at roughly the same level of emotional intensity. Alternately (and this is not the preferred story, but it is allowed), A is romantically/sexually involved with B and A is romantically/sexually involved with C while B and C have an intense, emotional, yet non-sexual relationship (not necessarily a friendship.) What is not allowed is a couple picking up a third party for a brief period of fun and games and then returning to their coupledom without the third party making up part of their sexual ongoing relationship. <ETA>There is a rule change from last year. Incest is, once again, allowed. Please read the FAQ before requesting it. In fact, just go ahead and read the rules to refresh your memory.</eta>

P.S. If anyone has the ability convert photoshop images to gimp images (.psd to .xcf) can you please help me out? I just need two switched. Alternately, if you know how to make gimp open photoshop images, that would work nicely. My google-fu seems to indicate that gimp should be able to do this (I use linux gimp 2.2) but it won't tell me what package I need to make it work.

Heads Up! This is the timeline for 2007 participation. We will continue to organize through livejournal for the foreseeable future, but, as has been our practice since 2003, the actual stories are posted to http://sesa.slashx-files.com/.

The I Saw Three Ships 2006 stories are now up. Sorry it took so long to get up today, the feedback part took longer than I expected.

Authors will be revealed on January 15.

Everyone who received a story should thank their Santa. That is a rule of participation in the exchange. Everybody who reads a story that they like, I also encourage you to leave feedback, but it's not required.
