  • [info]regann - Question! If I wanted to claim Yuna/Tidus (the pairing) would I have to restrict my writing for things that happen in either FFX or FFX-2 or would it be more like FFX/FFX-2?

The listing for FFX-2 is only meant for character's unique to FFX-2. Your moderator does not know the difference, however, because she has not played the games. So, please, only request FFX-2 characters if they do not appear in FFX.

That's a tricky one as it's the only FF with a sequel and one of the few FFs I haven't played, so I don't know how it works exactly. *laughs* However, my intention in including an FFX-2 section is that only characters unique to FFX-2 would be included. Characters in both games should be listed under FFX. I just have to trust my claimers to know the difference, because I don't.

So, in short, if you claim Yuna/Tidus, that would be good for both games.

Thank you. I now run off to claim them as my second claim. XD

Okay... I try to preview before I post, the title bits are fine but where the live journal cut is I get:
[Error BML block `XML` has no close]
(painfully new!)
Help... x_x

Ah, well. I'm not sure. I've never gotten that error. If your html is correct (It should be <lj-cut> or <lj-cut text="[whatever]">), then I'd try putting </lj-cut> at the end of your post.

If that doesn't work, tell me, and I'll do a little more looking into it.

I'm back again with more questions! Okay -- what do I have to do to get the correct tag for my entries? I believe that the maintainer might have to make them? Anyway, I'd like a final fantasy viii: quistis trepe for the fic I've posted AND final fantasy x: tidus/yuna tag when I post one for them. ;) Please? Pretty please?

Of course. ^_^ I go about making the tags when the first story of a claim is posted. (Except for a few, which were on the claims list when I created the tags.) I just hadn't gotten around to doing it for Quistis yet. Doing that now.

Hi! I have two questions, if it's alright.

1) When posting, do we have to write and post each piece in order by theme (In other words, theme 1, then 2, then 3, etc)? Or can we jump around, as long as we cover all 30?

2) Can we mix media? If I claim Irvine and do my first post as a piece of fiction, can a subsequent post be an icon or fanart?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]babel
2006-01-11 11:28 pm UTC (link)
1) Nope, it doesn't have to be in order at all.

2) Yes, you can mix media. But this comm is for fanfiction and fanart, not icons or other graphics.

Hope that helps. ^_^

i've questions, i do.

1. if a character is prior chosen, may i choose a paring with the same character and another characer? (as in, now Sephiroth is taken, but may i do sephiroth\Kadaj? etc etc)

2. like [info]jeannette, it's about mixing media. may one post be fanfiction, another fanart, and etc? also, would it make sense or be allowed to put fanart with fanfiction? as in, writing a story and drawing images with it? i suspect not, as it's a learning type of community, and the story may get changed, hm? but yeah i thought i'd ask anyway.

3. may we write poetry?

4. may we write in unfamiliar formats? when i say unfamiliar, also, i mean not necessarily in paragraph form, or flowing form, or 3rd person limited, or maybe sectional form or switching from 3rd to 1st, and back again, etc etc?

5. how long is one allowed to stay on a topic? how long do people usually take? i'd certainly like some of those topics, as well...

sorry of the typing. when chatting, its not too important to me. however, should you like a proper typist, i shall shape up the typing, eh wot?

edit
eh.. 2 more

6. what is the purpose of a disclaimer when submitting works if we (should) all know who owns what in accordance with we, the fans, and they, the creators?

7. may we incorporate original characters?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]babel
2006-01-12 05:57 pm UTC (link)
1. Of course.

2. If I'm understanding you correctly... You mean, you'd like to illustrate your stories? I don't have a problem with that as long as you put a reasonable amount of effort into each theme.

3. Sure. Just make sure it is fandom specific. I want to be able to tell it's a Final Fantasy piece.

4. As someone who often enjoys writing in 2nd person with shifting chronology, you may write in whatever format you like. ;)

5. People are allowed to take as long as they like. I am just going to institute a rule where I check in if they haven't posted for two months to see if their still going to participate. (Though, you may be getting your wish in the near future, and it'll just have to stay that mysterious for the moment.)

6. Because we know it, but anyone can stumble in and see the story. When I was a young little thing, I thought doujinshi meant all the Final Fantasy characters were secretly gay in the Japanese version of the game, so... Yes. Disclaimers have a purpose.

7. Yes, but the focus should be on the fandom characters. In fact, if you want an example of what I mean, check the first story I wrote for 30_F; Bastiff is an OC. The OC could even be a viewpoint character, but the story should be about the fandom characters. (Otherwise, the OC really belongs in original fiction.)

Phew! I hope that helps.

thank you very, very much! that helps quite a bit. but i did think of one more question just earlier, and i promise (truly, i do) this will be the last.

the question is, is au (alternate universe, i'm sure you're fmailiar?) permitted?

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]babel
2006-01-12 09:48 pm UTC (link)
AU is great, as long as it's still recognizable as Final Fantasy in some way, and it doesn't read like an original story with Final Fantasy names. ^_^

by the way, maybe i'm kissing butt here, but i popped on over to your (fandom) lj, as i was curious, and i think you write very well, especially for star wars, since it seems to be a promised favourite of yours.

but yes. thank you!

you know, i'm rather enjoying your community. i'm so sorry if i post too much. yeah there should really be a limit, do you not agree? i had a question, though.

if you choose one topic in a theme (e.g. jump from #3), then is it allowed to pick the other one in the theme (e.g. picking #3 again, but for dragoon)? i can see why not, of course, but i just thought i'd ask anyway

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]babel
2006-01-13 07:00 am UTC (link)
I'm a question asker when I join a community too, so I certainly don't mind. ^_^

You can do both parts of a theme, but you still have to do all thirty themes. So, if you incorperate jump and dragoon into two different stories, it only counts as one theme. That make sense?

Another question from me: is it permissible to post our stories elsewhere (personal ff page, ff.net, et al.) once we've posted them here or do we need to wait a certain length of time, etc.?

You may post your stories wherever you like. I actually encourage crossposting on LJ as because more people find out about the comm. ^_^ But, off-LJ places are fine as well -- They're your stories.

When claiming a certain character, can we write from another character's perspective as long as they are addressing our claimed character, or it heavily involves our claimed character?

I want to claim one character, and not a pairing, because I want to write about possible pairings between different characters and her.

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]babel

Yes. :) The only requirement is that the character you claim is involved in each story.

You may interpret the character's relationship however you like. That's why I put an "and" between names instead of a "/" :)

If I claimed a single character as a subject, would I be able to pair that character up in some of my fics or not? I think you've more or less answered that question above, but I thought I'd use the exact wording I mean and make sure. ^^;

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]babel
2006-03-12 11:11 pm UTC (link)
Yes. :) By claiming a single character, it only means that all of the stories have to include that character. At the same time, claiming two characters only means that they have to both be in the stories; they don't have to be paired.

If someone were to claim [Insert Random Character Who Only Appears In FFX]/[Insert Random Character Who Only Appears In FFX-2] would it go into the X or X-2 listing? Also can you claim from Final Fantasy: Unlimited? (The anime.)

Ah. Hm. I'd say that the listing is up to you. I'm not familiar with X and X-2, so I wouldn't be able to judge which listing would make most sense in that case.

Anything with "Final Fantasy" in the title is allowed. So, yes. :)

Hello. There doesn't seem to be a place to drop claims. I am stepping up and taking responsibility for my lack of posting because my claim should have been freed up awhile ago. Thank you so much for creating such a lovely community and I will certainly still watch it because it's an awesome place to find good stories.
