title: qualmë
rating: adult, eventually.

this is a story predominantly about glorfindel's lives, from the grinding ice onwards. it also features an original female character (of all the dastardly creations!), whose function will hopefully become clear as this story progresses. for now, i'll simply say that she is an ainu (whether morgoth-or-mandos-sent remains to be seen). [note: qualmë is quenya for death.]

dedication: [info]anuhealani, of course.

have you seen this woman, morgoth-or-mandos sent? )

title: caged
rating: adult
summary: i suck at summaries but glorfindel and ecthelion, in an effort to find maeglin, find themselves trapped in a tunnel in anghabar | 2660 words
pairing: glorfindel/ectheion

dedication: [info]anuhealani

note:
i. all snark and attention to ecthelion's voice is entirely the fault of [info]anuhealani.
ii. i have no doubt at all that i also owe a great deal to [info]mouse_rat's ecthelion and, of course, to [info]tehta's glorious glorfindel/ecthelion stories (the yardstick by which all glorfindel/ecthelion should be measured). like i said before, i'm just not that original.
iii. bit of love to [info]luinar who demanded that i tell her this story, even though we were sitting in the epicurean food centre in dublin, at the time (not quite the location to discuss the illicit sex lives of elves).

If I were perfectly normal, I wouldn’t be wondering whether this is a good moment to tell you that I love you )

title: extremes of ages
rating: pg-ish?
summary: the lives & times of glorfindel | ~3,400 words
pairing: glorfindel/ecthelion

dedication: [info]anuhealani

note:
i. i am not that original. i like recycling concepts and so i have done.
ii. there is no sex. i shall remedy that with an x-rated version sometime.
iii. i think it ends a tad abruptly but it's how it ended, damn it.
iv. this is chock-full of in-jokes. (i wasn't joking about ereinion being a self-insert).
v. this is the first longish fanfiction piece i've written for a long long long long time. be gentle. DON'T JUDGE ME.
vi. ♥ & thanks to [info]zap_rousdar. i might broaden your general title to 'fanfiction guru'. just because.
vii. also, a shout-out to [info]kayeff.

back to counsels in rivendell with hearts to [info]gnomeofsol . true fact: this multi-chapter story is what threw the two of us together, over five years ago.

so. the chapter-a-day thing didn't quite pan out. anyhoo, part ii of counsels in rivendell, with many thanks to [info]kazaera & [info]bradycardia for commenting on the previous. nostalgia is fun.

Chapter 2: Faith. i swear she's not a mary-sue. hobbit presence: low-to-medium )

i began to write counsels in rivendell in late 2002 and it was completed in january 2003. this fact is brought to you by "fuck i'm getting old". anyway, in a fit of nostalgia, i've decided to repost it, here in [info]100_indecisions, even though it rather directly contradicts my most recent fic.

things to note: the main character is an ofc, but i'm really very, very fond of her. it's set during the timeline of the lord of the rings and i'm insufferably cruel to glorfindel. one thing i often felt about this multichapter [6 chapters & an epilogue] piece is that is wrote itself, although it does seem rather stilted, upon re-reading. still, you can make up your own mind on that front.

i'm a little embarrassed reposting it but not utterly ashamed as i suspect this remains one of the better things i've written. also, it was written in the days when i swore blind that i'd never write slash.

i think i'll post a chapter a day, so as not to flood your f-lists. a shout-out must go out to [info]bradycardia who initially proof-read it, and to [info]gnomeofsol, who loved it enough to make me love it.

anyway, on with ye ancient fanfiction.

title: ad astra
summary: the death of gil-galad | 679 words
note: i think that ereinion gil-galad has been my longest-serving fanfiction muse. this has been trying to write itself for a month. i wrote the first sentence at the start of february and didn't write anything else until today. i suspect that this might be the darkest fic i've written about him but that might be because i've stripped it right down; there is no wife, no hope and no heir and what better time to dwell on this than in the moments before the last charge?

and, yes, it did go a bit 300 on me.

the shadows creep around him, and draw him in, and they are not like the ham-fisted, light-hearted, bloody-ha-ha attempts of his bodyguards to keep him safe and keep him high king and invincible )

entry for [info]picfor1000 2008. the writing of this was like pulling teeth.

title: anything i hate
summary: to quote from a rufus wainwright song: this is the day, the day of the death, the death of the matinee idol. this fic is rather more topical than i'd have liked. the characters are mine with the exception of an anonymous cameo by a certain gabriel barnes, who is mostly [info]applegnat's.

more silmarillion fanfiction, as per [info]applegnat's request: Maglor with a sibling [of your choice], and tension.

there can be no surprises that my chosen sibling is maedhros. i don't think this is that good, actually; there are too many semi-colons and it's not crisp or coherent enough for my liking yet i'm still posting it.

the premise: it is set just after the war of wrath and just before maedhros persuades maglor that they need to steal the silmarili.

i'll try harder next time. ;)

this is fanfiction, starring characters the weren't even mentioned in the silmarillion. well, maybe falathar was. inspired totally by the characters of rpg aman, and set in that 'verse, so to speak.

he supposed that must rank quite low in the grand scheme of things a mere quendë was expected to know )

i'm hoping that more ficlets will follow, from various fandoms, until i can get my mind wrapped around original writing again. so, yes, i will take requests. you know my fandoms, you know my characters.

i wrote! i wrote harry potter fanfiction, about a month after harry potter and the harrowing deaths deathly hallows came out. i think that's pretty good, for me. as promised, it's about teddy lupin and, not as promised, it's not very good and it's really pretty stream-of-consciousness.

title: teddy's lupin's first day at hogwarts.
rating: pg
summary: 's all in the title, man.

(this feels like the start of something. i don't know what.)

Byron Matthews had the triple misfortune of being beautiful, a genius and quite insane. He kept his insanity almost as carefully concealed as his genius, although the beauty was harder to disguise. Byron muddled his way through school and into art college in New York and into the lives of a hundred different people, most of whom loved him, even though he irritated them all to varying degrees. He was the sort of boy who should have been bruised and battered; his lack of guile and his naiveté bordered on dangerous and Byron’s sense of self-preservation appeared to be non-existent.

hi & welcome to my (probably ill-advised) nanowrimo effort. the star of the show is one patrick frazier, movie star. you may recognise him from ficlets here and there and passing mentions in the {whisperback} 'verse.

warnings for the coming month: our patrick indulges in some or all of the following on a regular basis: swearing. homosexuality. immoral behaviour. excessive alcohol and drug use. that's why i love him.

with love to [info]applegnat, without whom, patrick would be a shadow of himself.
