Thanks everyone for their words of support.

I'm fine, the driver and passengers of the other car are fine - which is fortunate, because I managed to hit the silver-haired army. The four people in the other car were 88, 88, 90, and 92.

My car is pretty beat up in places, as is his.

The accident occurred when I approached an intersection with a stop sign and a through street. IU stopped at the sign, looked, didn't see anyone, and went. I saw them about a third of the way through the intersection. My front passenger's side corner is pretty smashed, and I have a huge bash in the passenger's side rear door, and his car has the corresponding driver's side injuries.

The adjuster is coming tomorrow, the extent of the damage remains to be determined.
Fortunately, my parents were still carrying collision coverage on the car, which includes $40/day for a rental car while mine is in the shop.
There's a possibility mine might be totaled, it remains to be seen what effect that means if it happens, as the car is still drivable.

I've been ridiculously productive over the past week (with the exception of Monday night).

Saturday: Drove back from Indy. Started Hand-and-Arm guards at Charles the Brown's place - patterned them, got main pieces cut out, some holes punched), sewed 12 cored cloth buttons, sewed 6 of them onto my gambeson.
Sunday: Sewed other 5 buttons onto gambeson, got rest of pieces cut out for Hand-and-Arm guards and most holes punched, dyed them.
Monday: Nuffin'
Tuesday: Practice
Wednesday: Padded new fencing burgeonet (this consisted of figuring out padding method, cutting out padding, taping it together until it all fit, then sewing the padding together (with artifical sinew, an idea I got from Charles the Brown). Patterned chin cup for strapping.
Thursday: Skipped gym to do stuff: Went to Play it Again Sports to try and find more substantial elbow protection. Found it, didn't buy it 'cause I'm not sure if I need it, bought socks that hopefully won't suck too bad as garb instead. Bought leather for chin cup, new #3 punch to replace one I blunted. Cut out wood block to punch holes onto. Polished and oiled swords (except for the complicated hilt, I'll do it next week), retaped tips, polished nasty rusting peen block, strapped helm, final dye on Hand-and-Arm guards.

Movies watched doing projects over those four days of productivity:

The Fifth Element (part of it, while at Charles' place)
Independence Day
Transformers
Batman Begins
Men in Black
The 13th Warrior
Die Hard
Shakespeare in Love
Elizabeth
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Hellboy (twice, on TV)

And there's more to do tomorrow: assemble hand-and-arm guards for this weekend, get another shirt sewn.

Projects in the works, in planning or desired:
At least 3 more shirts, one handsewn for possible A&S entry (in the works)
Doublet (at least one desired)
Another pair venetians (desired)
Pluderhosen (desired)
Pouch (in planning)
Fencing Doublet of Sexy Awesome (in planning)
Gamboised cuisses to point my new knee cops to (in planning)
Braies to point them to (desired)
Pad elbow and and knee cops (spring steel!, in planning)
Figure out a way to keep elbow cops on while fighting (desired, feel free to suggest ideas)
Redo shoulder straps on leather torso armour (desired)
Stain/seal/treat awesome box I got at Rose Tournament.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more.
And that's just the SCA projects.
To make matters worse, I have no money, and will have to get a job at school next year. If I get the one I want, though, I'll have time to do handsewn projects while doing it.

I have so many projects it's ridiculous.

AND I need to lose weight 'cause I'm fat (overweight, same thing).

This weekend's plans are:
Friday night - Sewing at Brighid's, including assembling hand-and-arm guards
Saturday - Event, hopefully to include C&T time with Marco
Sunday - Planned trip to Conal's to make a Glastonbury chair

Beat Turkey 3-2 in the semis today.

Philipp Lahm scored the game winning goal with 30 seconds left in regular time, 3 minutes after having been burned BAD on Turkey's tying goal in the 86th minute.

A good friend of mine once said that any food could be improved by the appropriate addition of one of the following four ingredients:
1. Cheese
2. Garlic
3. Chocolate
4. Wine

I'm tempted to add a fifth: Peanut butter.

Saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last night with Jen and Dustin.

I really liked it. It was strange in places, but overall it was great fun.

What I liked best was that it was an Indiana Jones movie without trying to be THE Indiana Jones movie. It didn't outshine any of the others (especially not Last Crusade, which is still my favorite), but was thoroughly entertaining in its own right.

Shia LaBeouf was better than I thought he was going to be, Karen Allen was a great foil for Indy, and Harrison Ford was, well, Indiana Jones.

The movie started kind of slow, but it got better pretty quickly.
The score was great - Indiana Jonesish, but with cool variations.

Also in recent movie news: saw Ironman last week.
Maybe it's just because I had too-high expectations, but I was somewhat dissapointed. It was good - entertaining, mostly well acted (Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow were great, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges somewhat less so), and the sound track was good, but I felt it had too much plot exposition and too little action.

By the way, Gwyneth Paltrow still smokin' hot.

Bonus question of the day: In what movie did the song I'm listening to (see Music) appear?

So, what with me being a senior, a bunch of my friends are graduating, or getting ready for it.

And, along with that, there's a slew of engagements, and people planning weddings.

Two weekends ago, several of my friends were discussing another of our friends' impending engagement (everyone knows it's coming, we just don't know when -- and yes, you know who you are).

As part of this discussion, we got to talking about bridesmaids and groomsmen, and who'd they would ask to be theirs.

This got me thinking about my friends, and who my closest ones were. I'm not getting married anytime soon (I'm still, as my friends point out, pathetically single), but it was still an interesting thought. Who ARE my best friends? Who WOULD I want to be in the wedding?

So here it is.
If I were to get engaged now, this'd be my selections, 1 best man and 4 groomsmen:

Best Man:
Either Eric Backus or Jason Buckles. Right now, they're my best male friends, and it's a tossup between the two.

Groomsmen (and one woman):
Whichever of Backus or Buckles I didn't chose for Best Man.
Beth Phillips. Yes, I know - a woman. But Beth is probably my best friend, and has been for at least two years. She gets to hear all of my angst, and I get to hear all of hers. Plus we argue like we're married.
Stephen Gicale, my best friend from High School.
Brendon Mizener, my brother.

I also have friends who I'd want to be in the wedding, to do a reading or something.
I'd probably ask Jenn Bahrs and Colleen Naughton to do something or otherwise be a part of it.

I don't know what purpose this serves, but I felt like typing it anyway.

So, I don't like the band I'm in.
I've been in Pam Band every year, and loved it - Pam's funny, she picks good music, and we get out early a lot 'cause she knows exactly what she wants to get done every rehearsal, and we get to leave when we've done it.

This year I'm in Jessica Band (the new grad assistant), and it sucks. I don't like the music, I don't like how she runs practice, I don't like a lot of things about it.

At the beginning of the semester, she said that if anyone played French Horn or Bassoon and wanted to switch, she'd like that.

Well, I'm having no fun as a trumpet, so in a week and a half, I'll be playing a new instrument.

Horay!

Bassoon would be easier to get an instrument, but harder to learn and play (I've never played a woodwind instrument before).

French Horn would be easier to learn (I already know how to play a brass instrument), but there aren't any in Supply, so I'd have to share one with someone else and wouldn't get to take it home.

Should be interesting.
